Dined in the peacock room last night. Really high quality meal as always. Well worth a trip to experience the sophisticated ambiance, excellent quality food with a very reasonable price tag.
Celeriac velouté with crispy tarragon and black truffle to start, creamy, tasty, well seasoned with a lovely punch of truffle flavour.
Cannon of beef with oxtail fritters, foie gras, salsify, spinach and potato fondant, finished with a red wine jus. Beef was meltingly tender, complemented by some really well flavoured fritters and nice textures.
Passion fruit soufflé with fromage frais trifle. High even rise on the soufflé, light, airy texture, subtle flavour. Little trifle on the side, gave the dish different texture and another layer of flavour. Touch of acidity to cut through the rich soufflé.
Tried a Australian Shiraz new to their wine list. Really complemented the main course. Unusually peppery for a Shiraz with a big, burst of fruit flavour. Very quaffable.
