I'm reluctant to go to restaurants that have long queues outside mainly because I hate waiting, but on a positive side it must mean that the cuisine inside is fabulously delicious. My advise is always make a booking for this place as it is very popular, especially at the weekends. I like this restaurant because of its consistent high standard of food, its taste and the friendly wait staff that will always make your dining experience a pleasure. While this place isn't at the top of the 'high end' Indian restaurants in Sydney, it certainly makes up for it by the quality and quantity of the food portions and most importantly the price. no wonder it can pride itself on being awarded the DIMMI People's Choice Award for 2016! The menu is full of vegetarian and non vegetarian choices. I have been slowly making my way through the menu and for this review I will list my favourite dishes/ menu items. On arrival you are offered water and a complimentary serve of Pappadums and yogurt mint sauce and another darker sauce that is tasty. A drink from the well stocked bar is also available however we brought our own bottles of wine. Corkage is $2.50 per person. For entree you cannot beat the Maya Da Dhaba Entree Platter for two ($22.90) consisting of Adraki Lamb Chops, Chicken Malai Tikka, Fish Tikka and Vegetable Samosa. If you need to make it for more people, this can be easily arranged through the wait staff. The Adraki Lamb Chops are my favourite,as they are marinated overnight with Kashmiri spices, garlic and ginger-skewered and then grilled in tandoor oven. Another favourite is the very tender Chicken Malai Tikka fillets marinated with cardamom, mace, cream, cheese, white pepper, garlic, black salt and then char-grilled in the tandoor. There are two main dishes that I can highly recommend from the specialities menu. They are: * Kadai Chicken which is cooked with capsicum, onions and tomatoes and finished with fresh coriander. ($16.90) * Chicken Jalfrezi - succulent chicken pieces cooked with tomatoes, onion and mixed vegetables and finished with lemon juice. A mild fragrant dish not to be missed! ($16.90) * Chicken Chettinad - boneless chicken fillets cooked in south Indian style with a touch of coconut cream, mustard seeds and curry leaves. ($16.90) Also everyone's favourite Butter Chicken is very popular choice. The chicken is cooked in a rich creamy, tomato based sauce with fragrant spices and finished with a drizzle of cream. ($16.90) Meat dishes - I love the Lamb Saagwala - the most tender lamb pieces cooked with fresh English spinach, fenugreek, onion and garlic. ($17.90) The restaurant offers a variety of Biryani Rice choices. I often go for the Kashmiri Pulao ($8.90) or the plain Pulao ($2.90) Add some tasty Naan breads or Roti to your meal and you have an Indian banquet that will have you satisfied and talking about its goodness until you visit again. I was treated by Navjit (the restaurant manager) to a taste of the Gulab Jamun. It was freshly made and so irresistibly sweet! This syrupy dessert is a must have if you have room for more! Their curries are delicious and their Naan bread is soft. I like to order their thali as you can taste a huge range of veggies. It is sort of like a buffet for an individual. Not exactly in a food court, but on the same floor, it is located outside Coles near the fresh food and vegetable market.

The naan was amazing, better than most places i've tried, and the various vegetarian curries in my thali were all pretty decent too, again light years ahead of most Indian places i've tried. Since they cater more to Indian palates than Australian ones the curries are spicier and more flavoursome, which is a good or a bad thing depending on your tastebuds, I personally think it's a good thing. As has been said before they also stock a selection of Indian groceries, can't really comment on these though as I didn't buy any. Next were the garlic naans, which were soft and chewy in all the right proportions. The waiter was adorable. He seemed shy and nervous, while being very attentive and helpful at the same time. He noticed that my date had not ordered any raita with his rice (for he is unschooled in the ways of Indian dining), and offered him some mint chutney for free. Which my date greedily downed, of course, extolling its virtues the whole way through. The chicken was excellent, it was moist, and yielding, and scrumptious. The naans were delicious, and the service was good. The only downside; the rice was a little clumpy. That was a bit of a disappointment, but it wasn't overly unpleasant. It does not finish a vat of oil per dish - there is no glistening layer of fat on top of your dishes, yet at the same time, they are generally not dry so that the spices get stuck in your throat. A perfect balance actually. 2. They have the options of spicy vs mild, and their dishes actually mean it. More often than not, even mild will be ridiculously spicy in Indian restaurants, but at Ginger, mild (for me at least) was so definitely mild. Not flavourless, but certainly not flavourful from the hit of chilli! But at least they cater to all palates. 3. They don't mess up your order. And this is after not using notepads. That is just SO boss. 4. There is no overdose of gaudy Bollywood music or overdone Indian decor. It is subtle, comfortable and smells of delicious Indian cooking scent everyone.
