We were setup with a very large space that had pool tables and table tennis and were given the ability to bring our own decorations to add a theme to the event. We were allowed to setup in advance and were given assistance in both the setup and takedown. The food was great, we were given a buffet style selection which consisted of items such as sandwiches, pizza, meatballs, chicken wings, samosas, and mozzarella sticks. The food all tasted great and there was more than enough for everyone to eat. They have a decent selection of drinks, the only negative that I would say is that I would like to see a greater selection of local microbrew beers but that's ok. The service was what made the event that much more enjoyable. You never needed to chase down a server to get drinks and they always made sure that the glasses and dishes were picked up promptly so the place didn't look messy. I don't think there was a single time that I waited more than 2-3 minutes for a drink. If you are looking to just go and play pool or have an event here, I would definitely recommend dropping in.

He brushed it with a wet cloth and told me that it was gone. After he left and when it dried out (an hour later) the white spot reappeared. I called him right away (3 hours after he left) and he basically told me that it would not affect the play and that there is no way he would change the cloth. But it is bothering us, a new cloth with a big withe spot in the middle of the table? Not acceptable. No matter the deal for the table, the cloth is supposed to be new. Also the table is dirty and the cloth is not installed properly. Of course I have paid UTT (well...the price was given to me "Taxes included" but later I was asked to pay cash...so there is nothing I can do, except writing it here of course. Not happy...

The establishment itself has a very basic bar that serves dome tic beer and from what I could tell, very little else. The staff is small, with one person noticeably working in the front and a kitchen staff (I assume) in the back. They serve food, and it is pretty much what you would expect: chicken wings, nachos etc. It's not bad food, but nothing special. for a pool hall it gets a passing grade. The Mercury Lounge mainly specializes in variations of jazz music, but it also includes some of the other stuff as well. The atmosphere is very relaxing with warm reds and yellows. The stage is a perfect focal point as it's framed by two twelve foot high (at least) windows that look out into the market from this heritage building. Unfortunately, there's not a lot of space, especially if you arrive with a large group and want to stick together. You may have to resolve yourselves to separate a bit for the night if you want to sit down to enjoy the music. Unlike many bars in Ottawa, this place is open until 3AM.
