OPA ! Ok, was down…read morein da cape for a long weekend and we came across St George's GREEK FESTIVAL, well hell ya is what I thought cause it's gyro time.. Parking lot was interesting but we located a spot. I surveil the food booths and spotted the gyro stand and like the Terminator I make a beeline for one. I waited in line and stepped up and placed my order. A grilled pita pocket served with spiced grilled lamb flesh along with red onions & Tzatziki sauce placed over the top. Upon biting into my gyro I had a food orgasm. My Tzatziki flowed like a geyser gushing for my meat pocket if you must know.... After a tour of the church I headed for some Pastitsio which is a beloved Greek baked pasta dish, often called "Greek lasagna" ! Who ever made this made an exceptional one cause it tasted amazing.. After some Greek dancing and a beer I go for the ultimate Greek desert the Loukoumades stand. You're wondering what these are so Frank is gonna share. Small fried dough balls drizzled with honey, cinnamon, and walnuts for your well my pleasure... YUMMMM What a Greek experience of food & dancing I enjoyed. I highly recommend you add to your social summer calendar.

An older man told me to "go sit on the floor," which was degrading, humiliating, and completely unacceptable. Then an older woman looked at me and asked, "Do you speak English?" in a way that was insulting and deeply offensive. I couldn't believe that members of the church would treat a guest this way. A festival that's supposed to celebrate community and hospitality instead left me feeling embarrassed, unwelcome, and disrespected. There was no excuse for the rude, condescending behavior I experienced. If this is how visitors are treated, people deserve to know before they spend their time and money here. Respect costs nothing, yet it was completely absent during my visit. I will never return, and I cannot recommend this festival to anyone who expects to be treated with basic dignity.

Went to volunteer with the strawberry festival, ended up getting attacked over my faith. A young…read moreman in seminary joined in, vey inclusive unless you aren't one of them. I found this very disgusting, and the congregation should be ashamed of themselves. I had nothing to say, yet kept getting attacked. The Episcopalians say they teach inclusion, maybe they do, but not this church. Sorry I volunteered to help with the community, maybe this church should catch up on Christ teachings.

Located in the center of the historical town of Plymouth, Congregation Beth Jacob has the…read moredistinction of being the oldest continually operating synagogue in Massachusetts. The synagogue building was erected in 1913 and was originally an Orthodox schul with a balcony for the women congregants. CBJ became a Reform synagogue in the 1960's, and Rabbi Lawrence Silverman became its rabbi in 1975. As the congregation grew, there was a need for a larger space to accommodate high attendance at High Holy Days services, community Bingo nights, community Passover seders, and large social gatherings, and CBJ purchased a former Methodist church on Court Street to serve as its community center. This building served for many years until it was eventually sold to the Town of Plymouth and is now operating as The Spire Center for the Performing Arts. CBJ is a small congregation, presently about 80 families located in the Greater Plymouth area. We pride ourselves on our "haimishe," friendly atmosphere, welcoming new residents to the area, as well as tourists who are visiting Plymouth. Our members include families with lifelong affiliations with CBJ, many being descendants of its Founders. While the majority are retirees and empty-nesters, we also have a growing number of young families with children who are enrolled in CBJ's outstanding Beit Sefer (Hebrew School) program. After Rabbi Silverman retired at the end of July, 2021, after 44 years of devoted service to CBJ, Rabbi Estelle Mills became our rabbi. Although the synagogue building was closed to in-person services because of the Covid pandemic in March of 2020, CBJ has continued to conduct weekly Friday evening Shabbat services by Zoom, and Rabbi Mills has proven to be a technical wizard, creating PowerPoint slides for inspiring readings and prayers and sharing them with our minyan-goers. She incorporates beautiful music videos into our services, introducing us to new melodies that keep our services fresh and exciting. Her D'var Torah for the week is always relevant to current events while reinforcing the message and substance of the parashah. Significantly, Rabbi Mills has introduced us to the Reform practice of reading from the Torah at our Friday evening services - something that we had never done before. She includes congregants in the service, inviting selected people to light the Shabbat candles, do readings, share special blessings that we have enjoyed over the past week, and to actively engage and participate in the service. Wonderful pumpkin patch. We traveled all over looking for a pumpkin and this place has the best…read moreselection, hundreds. The thrift shop is also awesome and they have lobster rolls too. The pumpkin patch is just amazing and so cheap. Large ones, small ones, gourds, decorations. I can't wait. Friendly volunteers and a wonderful church.
