I get it can cause issue, but to move American graffiti to where it's such an odd time of year, it really deters from tourism and showing off the best of what we can be. I think bringing downtown to life is a good idea, as well as free things and graceada Park, and other events around town. I was born and raised here, I fondly remember the 4th of July parade, free fireworks at multiple places around town, concerts at graceada park, and events all the time. I get we've been going through covid, and there's a financial crisis going on in this country.. but some of the best of what Modesto can be doesn't really cost much. It's just getting people to come out, show off their cars, and everybody just get along like we used to. I think we should take advantage of beautiful places like McHenry village, the downtown plaza, the shopping center at briggsmore and sisk, and other areas that could provide places for people to just be do and see. Maybe have two types of American graffiti? One with the classic cars and then one with cars that have been completely tricked out like lowriders, the racers, and maybe even people getting froggy with electric cars? Our city is a car town, and I don't think we should shy away from that... Modesto has always had its problems, but there's a lot good about this town. I genuinely Believe in us. When you come in, you must go to the check-in window and provide your name and phone number. They inform you that you will be notified via text and announcement over the PA system when it is your turn with which window to go to. Depending on the time of day you come, there may be no wait or a wait time up to an hour. At peak times, there is extremely limited seating so you'll have to stand around as you wait for your turn. After I was called up the recorder's window, I was greeted with rudeness. The lady working there quite literally tossed the papers at me. There was no sense of politeness at all. Despite the attitude, I would say she was very efficient and seemed knowledgeable of what I needed to have done there. The service itself was relatively quick. If you need to come here, note that the entrance is the door facing I street and there is a small parking lot with entrances on I and Tenth Streets.

I ended up having to go into the office only for them to call me while I was IN THE LOBBY to take my information for my card to be mailed out! I've also tried uploading files and updating information through their website and nothing happens until you call to tell them that the information was sent in, but most of the time you have to physically show up just to tell them something has changed or else your case goes unattended. And the fact that they make you go through such an extensive automated system just so that, at the end, they can hang up on you is so extremely frustrating. One of the people assigned to me also didn't fill out my application correctly even though I tried explaining my situation to her several times. Her mistakes gave me so many problems later on when I tried applying to other services.

I needed the re-print of my Naturalization Certificate, so of course, I would go. We arrived early for fear that traffic would delay us and I wouldn't get my paperwork, if I arrived late. It was 1:35 P.M. A woman opened the door partway and asked if I had some document for them. I showed her and she told me to wait in the line. I was the only one at the time. I talked to the people who gave me the ride and told them that I would just wait and when it was finished, I would message them. As they were leaving, the woman told me to enter. She directed me to the first person behind the glass and she processed my paperwork and directed me to someone else. That person took a photo of me and had me leave a signature--two things that they needed to confirm from starting the process online. I was so relieved to find that they weren't going to make me wait and that they were all friendly and caring. It was like they didn't work for the government. Thank goodness for a good experience!

But when challenges like them shows up, your duty is to say: "Challenge Accepted, we'll get you through this!" The process is not long. And everyone does their job well.
