It was the best service we received during our entire visit to Europe. Really made us think about the difference that one person can make to your entire experience of a place. First things, it's really hard to find, it's…read morein an obvious location but due to the hedge all the way round it, it's really easy to drive past, so if driving make sure you're extremely certain as to where it is! The first time I visited, we ended up driving round Norwich an extra hour looking for it. The parking is right outside the hotel doors and is free, it's a fairly safe car park as well as it's monitered by CCTV. There are also ladies only and disabled spots right outside the door. Inside the hotel is probably in need of a decoration update but in terms of what it offers and the comfort I found that the decor didn't really bother me. The main entrance has a huge fountain with a reception on the left. There is also a bar, a seated area and a resturant in this area too. The rooms are all to the back right. Some of the rooms are situated on the ground floor and some on the first. In general the beds are really comfortable, TVs are in every room and there is a large desk with a mirror that can act as a dressing table or work bench depending on your choice. The bathroom includes a bath, toilet and sink with a shower fixed in the bath. Water tends to heat up quick and on the times I've stayed there's been no problems with the water suddenly going cold! I've never had a dinner or lunch there as we've only stayed bed and breakfast, but the breakfast is absolutely delicious. You get shown to a table and offered toast and tea and then you're left to collect the rest of it from a self service buffet. There's cooked breakfast on offer which is gorgeous and then loads of cereals, fruits and yoghurts. It's hard to stop yourself going back for more! The hotel price isn't bad for what you're getting and generally it's worth every penny.

The classic combination of warm colours and traditional Georgian features create an intimate, restful environment for a pre dinner drink in the library or other other equaly impressivly decorated rooms. The chef has created an extensive choice of exquisite dishes to be enjoyed in the restaurant which overlooks private gardens and woodland providing an elegant backdrop as you dine. They stock many wines from around the globe and the experienced staff can guide with the ideal bottle to accompany your meal. Although the quality and surroundings reflect in the price, it is well worth a visit for that special occasion.

The rooms are comfortable, spotlessly clean and thoughtfully furnished and equipped. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel. The owners, Tim and Elizabeth, are very friendly and accommodating. Sherbourne House has a small restaurant and bar and the food is really very good although there are also several excellent restaurants within walking distance if you fancy a change. I can't recommend it highly enough, a real gem.

The air conditioning from the Sports Centre or perhaps Ice Skating ring both of which are part of the complex does a hum all night, but not too loud.

I would have preferred a stand alone shower rather than a shower in the bath as I have a bad back making access stressful and scary. although the water pressure was fantastic, best ever experienced! Amy in the restaurant and bar was great. Even though the restaurant was really busy, we were served really quickly she was also very helpful and friendly. Also, Gordon in the bar made an excellent Passion Martini cocktail. The breakfast was great, really good selection, we've never had crumpets for breakfast at a hotel before. Our evening meals were excellent, tasty and the plates were hot, so no food cooling rapidly... all good value for money. All in all a good experience, when staying in the UK, we will only use Premiere Inn In future.

The service at dinner time was incredibly slow, with what seemed to be one waiter serving every table who would disappear sporadically with no indication of when anyone's meals would arrive. The food was slow to arrive, and for the price, not particularly good quality. We attempted to purchase some wine, only to be brought the wrong bottle, and our attempts to order water were either forgotten or ignored. Other guests, including young children, were very dissatisfied with the service. Breakfast was a similar affair, although the buffet meant you were less reliant on the staff per se, we were kept waiting at the entrance to the restaurant for a table, despite the dining room being virtually empty, and then brought through the entire dining hall to be made to stand while the waiter cleared our table (we had assumed that was the original purpose of making us wait outside), primarily by brushing crumbs off of the table and onto the floor. A number of breakfast items such as marmalade and white bread were often missing and not restocked throughout our time there, similarly with the hot food. The service for drinks was also poor. All in all, if you want to stay at a Holiday Inn in Norwich, it is probably best you don't pick this one. Although the hotel itself is more or less what you expect, it would be safer to eat out every night/morning, which is yet more expense.

You get your breakfast here which is first rate and the restaurant in the evening serves incredible local, seasonal food. Location is perfect, you can see the cathedral from your window. Everything worth seeing in Norwich is very nearby. Rooms are fine, we only stayed in a basic room because it's all that was available over a busy Easter weekend but had zero complaints. Beds are comfy, rooms are clean, no crappy minibar which is a huge plus in my eyes.

We had opted for their Historic Norwich package which for £150 per night had included free Thornton's chocolates and a bottle of prosecco on arrival in one of their feature rooms, two free passes to Norwich castle, a £25 allowance per person towards dinner in their beautiful WinePress@Wensum restaurant, and breakfast for two also in the WinePress@Wensum restaurant the next morning. Well I must say, even though I am a right mean bugger I thought the package was good value for such a nice room and such excellent food. Every part of the hotel oozed class, from its pleasant comfortable sitting areas, to its beautiful spacious restaurant, and I would go so far as to say it was the finest hotel I had stayed in for year. The location was excellent, just a stone's throw away from the Cathedral, and a five minute stroll from the city centre with its market and many shops. I honestly could not find a single fault with any aspect of our stay apart from, next time we stay with you, could you do something about cold wintery weather? Free Wi-Fi and parking, excellent staff, superior hotel and restaurant with exceptional food, means the Maids Head Hotel deserves your consideration next time you stay in Norwich. I have checked into this hotel over 40 times since my Norwich project started and I think it might…read morebe time to update my review. That number of "check-ins" above accurately reflect the number of days I've stayed. I have stayed in several different rooms and depending on how busy they are will depend on whether or not I get upgraded or just get a regular room. It is a conference center and it's the nicest hotel in Norwich, so it can fill up when there is a special event. (A movie was recently filmed in town so most of the cast and crew stayed here for two weeks.) While the upgraded rooms are nice (I had the honeymoon suite a couple of times) even the standard rooms are clean and comfortable and plenty roomy. Flat screen TVs, a work desk with UK power sockets, a trouser press, bathrobe and slippers, plus wifi that works everywhere in the hotel (not free unless you are Gold or Platinum elite) though it does get VERY slow between 21:30 and 23:00. The staff are very friendly and most welcoming. Once a month is a meet-and-greet with the management, which has allowed me to provide them with some feedback and opportunities for improvement. The 1559 Restaurant serves a continental and English breakfast buffet in the morning and a decent (if spendy) dinner. The Zest Bar is more like a golf club with less expensive entrees and the same selection of drinks and beers. Room service is expensive but good if you have to spend the night in your room on conference calls. Most of the time, the rooms are very quiet and very peaceful. I'd recommend avoiding the '01 rooms as inconsiderate guests who shout in the hallway can be heard in your room. I've also had to deal with the noise from the marquee once or twice, but closing the windows usually solves that problem. As part of a proper golf resort, there is a full 18 hole course which I have not played. There is a nice driving range that has allowed me to burn off a little frustration by smacking little white golf balls off into the distance (or not so far into the distance because I suck!) and the Pro Shop does have "house clubs" you can borrow. There is plentiful parking and it's free. The speedbumps on the drive are awful, so go slow! There are only two things that keep this property from getting that fifth star: - It is a couple of miles from the Norwich city center which means cellular coverage is poor. A taxi from the rail station will run about £10. - The hotel is not air-conditioned. Rooms are outfitted with radiators (that work well) and a three-speed rotating fan (that is great for pushing the warm air around).
