This use to be my favorite, but as usual pubs change hands and the new owner is way to corp, this place is ruined, the soul is gone along with anyone with taste. Fantastic Sunday lunch. We had the roast pork and roast chicken. Definitely order the cauliflower and cheese!!

Went here for dinner by myself. The waitress was super helpful as I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to eat or drink. I decided on a beef stew which was out of this world and the most delicious and exciting comfort stew I have had in a while. This was paired with a great pour of a temparinillo which was appreciated but not my favorite red. This place is as you would expect. A cozy gasteopub, stylish, and nestled just slightly off the main drag so it doesn't attract too many crazy tourists like myself. read more

I had high hopes for the Builders Arms based on how it looked from the outside - big windows, relaxed and cozy atmosphere. It was busy but we were still able to get a table for dinner without a wait. The waiting began once we sat down. Unfortunately, it looked as though there was only one waitress managing all of the tables, and while she was very nice, she was clearly run off her feet. The food was so-so, nothing particularly special despite promising descriptions on the menu. My "sea bass accompanied by fresh beet salad and horseradish mash" (or something like that) was actually just a fillet laid on top of scoop of shredded beets and what tasted like cold lumpy half-mashed potatoes. Side note: my biggest disappointment is when something doesn't taste like I think it ought to based on how it looks. If it looks like mashed potatoes, it should taste like mashed potatoes unless the chef has something truly magical up his / her sleeve. We shared the apple and blackberry crumble for dessert which was another failure. Despite it being pink, I didn't see any blackberries. The crumble part was more like crushed graham crackers than a crust, and it was served with a small side dish of something akin to the white sauce that you get with Christmas pudding. Blech. Also weird: there were several dogs inside the pub, include one under the table beside us that kept licking my shoes. I like dogs a lot, just usually not at the dinner table and especially not in a restaurant. read more

I had high hopes for this pub. Aesthetically this place looks great and has a fun vibe. Unfortunately the food and service were pretty disappointing. All of our dishes were lacklustre drinks on the other side were good. In the future I will come back for a drink but not to eat. read more

The Builders Arms is a great pub in Chelsea... if you're looking for a Chelsea pub! The interior looks old and traditional but in a very vintage way, in that it's possible (but maybe not probable?) that all the furniture and decor is worth an incredible amount. It's definitely a bit quirky though, and very original. It's also a relatively large pub, albeit slightly narrow at the front, but the back area and dining area are large enough that on anything other than the busiest nights you should be able to find something. You'll also find some pretty impressive pub snacks behind the bar. I've had my share of small bites at pubs, and what you get at Builders is definitely up there. Their sausage rolls are huge - you could almost confuse one with a burrito! There isn't much of an outdoor area, but out front there are a few tables and some standing area if it's a nice day outside. read more

Located in Chelsea behind London's famous Kings Road, the Builder's Arm looks pleasant enough from the outside with outdoor seating area. Obviously this is an added bonus for smokers who do not want to be shunted onto the pavement to enjoy a cigarette with their drink. Inside the pub was very packed for a Sunday afternoon with a mix of couples, friends and families. The atmosphere was cosy- teh ideal place to be on a bitter Winter afternoon. However, the food was definately overpriced for an OK meal - £12 for bangers and mash was just ridiculous considering it wasn't particularly tasty. If you like your mash potato drowning in bland gravy then you will probably disagree. Their deserts were much better- the apple and blackcurrant crumble with custard was very good. The juicy fruit was covered by HUGE pieces of crunchy crumble although there could have been a few more spoonfuls of custard. Still not sure if it reflected the £5 but it was one of the best crumbles I have tasted. So if you fancy a drink in a cosy pub or have a sweet tooth head to The Builder's Arms but if you're after fab pub grub- STAY AWAY! read more

I have been coming to this place for years and I truly luv it. I am an American and I come here for work often. This pub is like a NYC watering hole For me while I'm away. Unfortunately, the outside hiring of a very nasty American woman to work the trivia night was not pleasant. Not only was she rude but she had the audacity to talk SH%# to us as we were leaving the pub and not to our faces. I've never experienced his type of attitude or behavior from anyone at any pub in the UK. She was a sloppy, maybe drunk, sad excuse of a person. Hopefully the pub no longer allows her to come within 50 feet of said establishment. I hate to rate the pub on the current events but unfortunately there was no where for me to rate the trivia group. read more

This pub is nicely renovated, with friendly staff and a great ambience. We had a couple of pints and some bar snacks (truffle parmasen fries and chorizo croquettes), both were delicious! We couldn't get a table because it was Sunday and we hadn't booked so we sat in the bar area. read more

My office mates and I often come here for after-work drinks. It's generally filled with local Chelsea dwellers, so lots of suits. The place is very comfortable. I find that the service is very good even when it gets busy. I never have to wait too long to be served. One thing that I love is that they sell single sausages. It's great to get a plate of these with a round. I've never had a meal here, so no comment on that. Overall, a very nice pub. read more

I came here on a Friday night and after enjoying a few beers decided to order the English pub standard, fish and chips. To me surprise, they had run out. Bloody sack the chef or the person who orders and can't factor a basic fish and chips at 8pm on a summer Friday night into their ordering regime. Bloody shambles. Drink selection- excellent. Pub wise, no complaints, standard price for a youngs pub. Food- starter; crab and avocado on toast- good, fresh crab meat, served with a tasty sauce. Good quality, fresh. Portion stayed firmly on the small side- defiantly no effort to make a filling affair, in terms of the starter, not necessarily a faux pas in the restaurant business, though the effect possibly erred on the stingey side. Main- rump steak- fairly disastrous. The oyster fitter ordered to accompany the steak came with the starter, and tasted mostly of batter. The premature appearance wasn't a huge catastrophe, considering the kitchen couldn't cook the steak correctly. Firstly, they mixed up my steak with another member of my table, and gave me his sirlon instead of my rump- having rectified this situation, the huge mistake of the kitchen made itself clear- my 'rare' steak was little short of medium. Whilst the charming staff whisked the incorrectly cooled meet away with expedient politeness, my vegetables on the side went cold, and I was left wondering how a chef can actually cook a steak so far from the mark. Steaks are basic cooking, and it is an insult to the paying customer to not manage to cook the meat how is has been requested. The ever kind staff offered us a complimentary pudding, to make up for their meat-making mess-up. However, the bread and butter pudding which I ordered was also very much sub par. It was a dense mass of layers of stodgy bread, unlike any other bread and butter pudding I've ever seen. No battery egg, instead dense sheet, after dense sheet, creating a cloying mass of unfinishable bready carpet. The pana cotta ordered was one of the most rubbery and thick I've ever seen. Taste wise excellent, the consistency was unforgivably thick and incorrect. Overall. 1) starter- good, portion poor, taste excellent. 2) Main- when it came, nice, but a major red flag is a restaurant which can't cook a steak correctly. 3) Pudding- very poor- consistency very poor, taste not superb, other puddings illustrating a poor understanding of cooking. 4) Staff- charming, helpful, polite. 5) drinks- good range, enjoyable. 6) aesthetic/ design- homely feel, somewhat dated colouring, but comfortable, good ambiance. read more

The steaks were very good and the service was okay. The rib-eye barely touched the sides and the big steak was perfectly cooked and succulent, washed down with a bonus (although not sure I needed it) glass of wine on the house in a indulgent display of pure gluttony. My only regret was that, forgetting about her penchant for tomatoes and tomato-based products, I fell victim to her blatant thievery as she stole my only vegetable, a wonderfully sliced tomato salad, whilst I dutifully refilled her wine glass! read more
