This place caught our attention when we first got into town so we decided to try it out for lunch. I had the fish and chips, the wife had the sampler and our friends all had hamburgers. The fish and chips were good and I would have it again even though it's not British style with a beer batter I enjoyed it. The wife enjoyed the sampler and the friends did enjoy the various burgers they had ordered. They had a small selection of beers and we each enjoyed the ones we ordered. The four stars is due to the waitress not really being very attentive to the guests. Several times I had to get up and go get her to forward our meal onto the next step. It wasn't incredibly busy so we were able to relax and chat with our friends which was nice so glad we tried it. read more

US tourist here, was excited to go check out the famous Bulldog. Went in and ordered a pure joint. Guy behind the counter said they are out of pure joints and only have mixed weed/tobacco joints....and they only sell them in packs of 4. Excited we smoked the joint and never got past the tobacco headaches. Something was up. We went down the street to another coffeeshop we regulared and opened one of the joints up for an employee and she agreed there was zero weed in these. It being our luck, every single one of the joints had 100% tobacco in them. Not a hair of weed in all 4 joints. You be the judge, picture is attached. So what's going on here? The first thought is they are trying to pull a fast one on tourists. I don't know, all I know is I paid 12,00 for four tobacco cigarettes. read more

They have a wonderful selection of flowers to choose from if you know what I mean. The staff are friendly and plenty of room to kick back and have a smoke, a coffee and smile! When planning my trip to Amsterdam I had a handful of people tell me that I should visit this spot. They said it be relaxing, fun, and most importantly, a place were I'd be able to enjoy some of the best things Amsterdam has to offer (cough, cough). My friend and I made the effort and visited on my first night in the city. In short, this place exceeded every expectation I had! When you first walk to the space from the outside you realize how big it is. Located inside a former police station, the spot has an outdoor area, massive first floor, and a large seating area in the back. Patrons are encouraged to light up, buy a drink, and enjoy live music from performers situated in the middle of the space. My friend and I grabbed a drink at the bar and were able to relax comfortably while enjoying a show. This is definitely a place on a fun night out. Party like atmosphere with loud music playing and guests smoking throughout. Prices are decent and the staff is nice. One of many places to check out this place has a lot to offer.. u got a bar, food & coffee shop slash mini club lounge in one. We came & sat right by the window once comfy we got some drinks to begin with I had a Rum & coke not bad later on switched to beer tried the Duvel good beer but it was a bit warm had to get a glass with ice big difference! My friend had a Jameson & ginger ale not bad as well. Food I had the Mozzarella & Pesto Panini this was delicious simple yet very tasty. We also tried those popular fried balls, they are like croquettes can't recall the name!! But they were good creamy center nice taste small issue with these some one the balls were empty it was just the fried shell that kinda sucked but most were full. After hanging for a bit we decided to visit the coffee shop u can buy outside & bring in to smoke so that's cool, this place is interesting the fact that it once upon a time used to be a policy station is just too ironic for all that goes on inside. Service is pretty decent & so are the prices, they have a DJ on board playing some pretty good music most of the time people watching here should be a sport so entertaining it's addicting we had a fun time, good place to check out. read more

Great fun place to relax and people watch on Leidseplein. The Door Man Miguel is super cool and very fun. I recommend you chat with him for a bit. They have a remodeled bar area upstairs where Karaoke was going on each night. I didn't spend a lot of time in their, but I could hear some pretty good acts going on inside. read more

I prefer this location over the original location - however I will say that it wasn't as busy as the original location because we went mid-day. With that being said, our service was 10/10. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars, is because there was blood on the men's toilet stall and I threw up in my mouth looking at it. Fml. But other then that, great joint! read more

Went to this place last month. The DJ played music mixes of American renowned artists. They sell reefer based on your desired outcome. Drinks were reasonably priced, good food and excellent DJ. Paying to use the bathroom is an insult. read more

Tried walking in earlier today for a meeting and an aggressive bouncer held out his arm and shoved me claiming that I needed to wait as people were exiting. There is a better way to handle this such as "sir, would you mind waiting a moment?" When he did this I looked at him and told him his behavior has cost his boss a customer. I went elsewhere. Anyhow, be warned of aggressive tourist-trap style bouncers who make you feel like you are in the worst parts of Times Square. Great view. Nice place to grab a beer while people watching. Outdoor seating. Common in Europe, people smoke cigarettes everywhere so you can be sitting next to someone smoking in your face. I can't imagine why anyone would choose to visit this place over all the other options available to them... unless they were more interested in meeting other Americans than getting a feel for the local scene. Where tourists come to fist pump in Amsterdam! During the day, The Bulldog is just your typical bar and coffee shop (downstairs), but at night it transforms into a dark and seedy little dance club. Picture a red and blue tinted room with loud dance music blaring. My friend and I eventually migrated upstairs when I refused to dance with him and make a fool of myself. We sat at the bar and proceeded to get quite tipsy and had a bit of fun. If you're looking for something a little more lively in Amsterdam to pick up your mood a bit, this could be the ticket. This is by far the best Touristy Coffeeshop you can visit. The Number# 1 reason. They serve beer. Good beer! The type you actually want to enjoy with all the other wonderful cannabis they offer. Besides having outstanding cannabis, you can get some very good food here. And unlike so many it's actually food, not snacks or little bottles of juice or coffee. So roll a nice fatty, drink a De Koninck and when the munchies set in, have a good meal as the day passes by and you enjoy life. Coffee shops are all over the place, but this is like the Hard Rock of coffee houses there. So we went. To, um, partake in the local culture just pop up to the man in the corner in the booth. You can either get your refreshment with or without tobacco. (tobacco, gross). You can roll yourself or have it already prepared. If you do, then it comes 4 to a pack for 12 euro. Walked downstairs in a cavernous coffee shop to purchase the local product, then popped into the bar upstairs for drinks. The energy and music was upbeat and my bartender was actually pretty awesome. Quite an interesting place... Especially for this Californian who is used to the culture. I found this place to be quite interesting, because it is a huge "complex" made up of at least two separate areas that I saw. We first went into a side cafe, to the right of the main club entrance. They sold the good stuff there, along with a bar featuring sodas, juices, smoothies, chips, the regular munchie selection. It seemed a bit overpriced but I figure that comes with the experience. There was a room inside to enjoy your purchase, as well as outside patio enjoyment areas. There also seemed to be a hallway leading to a gift shop. The second room was the most impressive to me. We walked up to the main club area, which resembled any given night club here in the states. There was a dance floor in the middle, with two bars located at either side. There were couches and chairs randomly places, and stairs leading up to a second VIP level. However, in the back and below the VIP area, was 12 foot tall glass panels with all glass doors. There was an impressively sized "smoking room" back there, that seated maybe 50 people, with music playing and sports on several TVs. There was also slot machines, and we were very much inside the nightclub. We were there on a Friday night around 10, and although there was quite a few people sitting outside smoking and drinking, there was very few people in the actual club part. read more

One of our favorite places to hangout each night after a full day of walking! We became regulars and found ourselves here from 5-7 each night! We got front seats outside under the heating lamps and watched commuters coming and going while we soaked in all the sites and sounds of central Amsterdam! We met some fun folks each night and enjoyed drinking and smoking with the locals. It's the only establishment that offers herbal smoking While drinking alcohol. You have to go to their "coffee shop" which you enter thru a different door to purchase herbal mix. I bought a pack of pre rolled joints (4-5 per box ) which cost about 16euro. Then sat outside while my hubby drank some beers. We ordered food one night but just drinks the others. Ended up with the same server and she was very nice to us. I sure wish we had places like this in California! Give it another year! Outside is the best place to sit if you're lucky enough to find tables! read more

The Bulldog chain Palace location is a rather odd and uninteresting place to buy your products. However it is an ideal and center location to roll one up, eat and drink something while smoking. Gets easily crowded, but it was good enough to the point that we ended up here at least 3 times over NYE weekend. Their coffee shop serves a variety of different strains, and their edibles are definitely of good quality (although one person said that they didn't feel anything). They also serve a solid bar and coffee drinks as well. Their smoking area is very relaxed, can get crowded easily, but everyone is pretty friendly for the most part and accommodating. The upstairs room gives off a bar/dance area vibe with a DJ setup and numerous tables with people either smoking, drinking, or just having a good time in general. If there's one place to go to as a tourist in Amsterdam, it would most certainly be the Bulldog coffee shops. read more

It's a popular tourist destination so you can expect the somewhat stereotypical loud and sometimes cringe-ful tourist situations/groups. I've come here a number of times with my husband or other friends. I always like going to a place that's close to my hotel when I partake. It's always a fun place to go. The laws have changed over the years. The first year we went, you could only drink water or soda. Next, you had to go to the building next door to have a beer with your stuff. Now, you can have whatever together. I like sitting upstairs and watching what's going on in the square. They have entertainment there quite often. Amsterdam is always a blast. read more
