A knowledgeable staff is more than willing to give you guidance with your selection... and there is plenty of great looking cuts to choose from. Walking in the door you know you are in the right place if you like a good cut of meat. Take a number and peruse the selections, pay attention though as the staff is on top of things and takes care of the customer quickly, you would hate to miss your number. I was recommended by people in church to go The Butcher Shop. They said qualities of the products were good. The shop was pretty clean and had variety of products like all kinds of meats, fish, lasagna, cheese, eggs, and etc. I bought flavoured chicken and eggplant lasagna. They were very good. I want to try different kinds of foods from here. Many people say they are a little bit expensive, but by considering their qualities, I don't think they are very expensive. I think Longos or Loblaw charge more for less. read more

After receiving a Yelp email advertising nearby butcher shops, I figured I would give the well-reviewed The Butcher Shop a try the next time I was in the neighbourhood, which was about a week ago. Having now tried some of each item that I bought, I will say that it was a very satisfactory trial. I do not normally shop at a butcher, mainly due to convenience, but am willing to pay a little extra for good cuts of meat. I was greeted by two different clerks when I arrived, but took some time to look around first. The store was quite clean and organized and bright. There are a few freezers along one wall with frozen prepared foods like lasagne, and some racks in the middle with bottled sauces and condiments. My first thought with the meat was that the beef was more expensive than I expected, but that was probably because they did not have any of the cheaper cuts (sold out or do not carry?). In addition to individual cuts, they also had a variety of sausages and prepared skewers. I wasn't in need of any fish so didn't really look at that section. I settled on three items: Spicy Thai BBQ pork chops ($5.99/lb) which were very thick and well-seasoned, prime rib sausages ($7.99/lb) which were long and not oily when cooked and excellent tasting, and a piece of breaded chicken cutlet ($8.99/lb) which was okay but nothing special. My total bill was $27, from which I will get meat for 5 meals plus some leftovers. While I may not go regularly, I would definitely return to try some other things (and get more prime rib sausage). read more

This is an absolutely FANTASTIC butcher shop. The selection and meat quality is top-notch. However, I've been EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE STAFF'S COVID-19 SAFETY PROTOCOLS. 1) None of the staff are wearing masks 2) None of the staff are respecting physical distancing among themselves. I saw one staff member come within inches of another staff member while restocking a chicken tray. 3) No hand sanitizer clearly displayed and used by staff between serving customers. They do limit 5 customers within the store at a time and have markers on the floor to help customers do proper physical distancing, which is excellent, but the staff need to take proper COVID-19 safety measures as well. I used to love shopping at The Butcher Shop, but I will now BOYCOTT AND NO LONGER SUPPORT this store during the COVID-19 Pandemic UNTIL THEIR STAFF ADOPT PROPER COVID-19 SAFE MEASURES. Most excellent butcher shop. I have been shopping weekly for many years. Beef and chicken Shish Kabobs are wonderful. Gluten free sausages are also regulars on our menu. Marinated salmon is wonderful...keep it up! read more

They recently renovated and their prices have gone crazy. Their meats are fine quality but the staff are very rough...never a thank you...it's almost like they're doing you a favour. Will try not to shop there...but unfortunately pretty much the only butcher in the area. read more

This is the only shop I know of in the East End that carries USDA Prime. They were able to cut my prime rib too any size I wished. I called ahead and the made sure they set it aside for me. Brisk, but friendly staff. In a previous visit they totally bailed me out with their impressive stock when another butcher messed up my whole Packers Brisket order. I went the The Butcher Shop in the eleventh hour and they had what I needed. Dependable? Yes. Selection? Staff are not wearing face masks which are currently mandated in Toronto. Customers are very respectful of masks/social distancing but behind the counter is another story. My family has been coming here for years but I do not feel safe going back until serious changes are made. read more

My very favourite place to shop is the butcher shop. The staff are amazingly friendly and helpful. I ordered two steaks USDA and they were quite expensive but worth every morsel. I took these up north for a family gathering. Even if the steak is 44 dollars or more, be creative slice it against the grain, as if you were serving Chateaubriand. It goes a long way so to $45 steaks fed six people. Also they're cold cuts are to die for all done in house, there is a plentiful choice of stir fry Meats, many types of sausages, fresh eggs fresh chicken, many frozen dinners. FINALLY a butcher that isn't closed at 4:30 or 5 every day. Went here for the first time about a week ago to get some burger meat and sausages. I grabbed some beef short ribs, ground chuck, and brisket with no problem. They had stock of everything. Sausages - I got the hot italian (they aren't joking, these have some kick), and an AMAZING honey garlic chicken sausage. Seriously, order these sausages. The seasoning is perfectly balanced and the honey/garlic combo isn't overpowering. Will be stocking up on these for sure. Beef Short Ribs - They come both plain, and marinated. I grind some of the meat up for the burgers so I got the plain. Brisket - They actually make corned beef in house, so a lot of the brisket gets convereted into that. I managed to get a small piece which is all I needed of some new stuff that came in. If you need a brisket or any other cut of meat that is not ordered very often give them a call and they will order it in for you. The staff are amazing, and they know what they are talking about. Friendly, fast and efficient. Prices are like what you would find at any butcher, a bit elevated for some cuts but well worth it. This is my new go-to butcher in Scarborough...seriously, get the honey garlic chicken sausage, you won't be disappointed. read more

More an old English style butcher, they carry a good selection of very high quality meats that are expertly cut to your specifications. Where else in Scarborough can you get Wagyu beef or USDA Prime steaks? Fresh Ontario rack of lamb? The meat is cut by a professional butcher so it cooks properly, not hacked apart and stuffed into cellophane to hide the poor quality work. There is a freezer section and some dry goods with a selection of prepared foods and ingredients to help in preparing meals worthy of these quality meats. This is a real butcher shop for people who seriously want top quality meat and are prepared to spend appropriately to get it. Forest Hill quality in Scarlem (I mean Scarborough).....priceless.

This is my favorite butcher shop at the moment. The first impression is that the shop is extremely clean which is important to me for meat shopping. The selection is very wide in beef, poultry, chicken, lamb and they also have a seafood section in the back of the shop and a big selection of different types of sausages. My most purchase included chicken souvlaki, texas bourbon skewers and honey and apple chicken sausages. All the other cuts of meat look really fantastic and the presentation of all the stock was fabolous. Their freezer is stocked with different savory pies and they also have other prepared foods. The Butcher Shop is my new go-to for meaty needs. I will likely go back this week for a piece of roasting beef. read more

We have been going to this butcher shop since it was in The Elaine Plaza and it has maintained their high level of meats all these years. It is more expensive then grocery stores but the flavour and quality is amazing. Try the in house cooked roast beef sliced for sandwiches and you will never buy it anywhere else again. Also a great pairing is a corn farmer sells fresh corn in the parking lot next to the plaza which is GMO free and delicious. read more

My sister-in-law from Barrie always includes a stop at The Butcher Shop on every visit to Toronto -- cooler in the back for the trip home. Found this place about 6 months ago. Some of the best Dry Aged Canadian and USDA Prime I have had. Also have a vast selection marinated chicken and also sausages. Hands down the best Souvlaki and Tzitziki I have had...ANYWHERE. Had a party for about 40 people and they prepped and packaged it ahead of time and even made Lamb souvlaki at my request. The best in Scarborough. the Hot Italian sausages are definitely hot..but delicious. the Sweet Italian are perfect. The tzatziki sauce is killer. Bacon and hot dogs are tops...service is fast friendly knowledgeable and friendly. Tried a tray of lasagne...and this is the only disappointment I have experienced here. It tastes like any frozen mass produced lasagna.....heavy on noodles and some sauce and not much else. If there was cheese..it was the tiny bit sprinkled on top. Looks like I will continue to make my own. Everything else...is great. Would love to see some Scottish Bread here...and kudos for selling the bread from Cliffside Bakery. Very happy to have this Butcher Shop in a neighbourhood sadly lacking in quality food stores and shops. read more

Went to the butcher shop this weekend, my boyfriend called ahead to place a small order of meat. When we arrived we were told we had to wait in line which was approx 20 minutes even though he had called ahead. As we got closer to the head of the line which was over 30 minutes of waiting because the line was extremely long, there was one person in front of us, a middle age white man got out of his car and cut to the front of line. He went inside because he had called ahead for a refund. He was not told to wait in line, he was allowed to bump everyone, get his order replaced and carry on with his whiteness. It is important to note that my boyfriend is black and was denied the same privilege as the white man multiple times when he tried to call the store. We confronted the cashier and she defended her stance by reassuring us that he was allowed in because they had given him bad meat a couple days ago. Not only did this butcher shop serve bad meat to a customer but they allowed unfair treatment. We will never be shopping here again. read more

I have been shopping at the Butcher Shop for almost 15 years and I always look forward to my weekly visits. Great staff, fabulous selection of freshly prepared meat and side dishes. Love the farm fresh eggs, farmers bacon and local butter and cheeses. I recently bought some Alberta prime new york steaks and as always they were superb. It's hard to eat steak in restaurants when I know the Butcher Shop steaks taste better! A jewel in Scarborough. read more
