Since the closure of But'n Ben Scottish bakery in Pickering, there hasn't been another bakery to get good meat pies from. This bakery replaced a Wimpy's diner and I was curious to see how they would manage such a large space for a bakery. The store is well laid out with fridges and freezers that line the store, jam packed with delicious oven ready meals and hard to find eats. There are also isles stocked with jams, coffee, tea, pot noodles, biscuits and snacks from the old country. And in-store baked breads are spread out on tables near the display cases. I picked up 6 assorted meat pies and some Queen Victoria's during this visit and shared them with my family. I don't often make meat pies anymore as the kid still has yet to develop the taste for it, but for the adults in the family, this was a lovely treat to pick up several different flavours to sample (chicken pot pie, steak and gravy, steak and mushroom). We enjoyed our selection of pies and the dessert and look forward to returning to try out more delicious eats!

I had their Pork Belly with Preserved Vegetable. It was only $5.99 for a decent portion, and tasted pretty good. A Pineapple Soda completed this meal. It was actually such a good deal, I decided to pick up something for dinner. A combo with BBQ Duck, Soya Chicken, Vegetables, and Rice, also for only $5.99, seemed like a great choice. If I could get deals like this, closer to home, I may not have to cook!

I double checked and when confronted they took the geoduck out and placed near the freshly dead stock and tried to stuff a dead one into the bag. I said you did not need to take out. Just place correct price and not try this switch a roo for items they claim to be on sale. Either honour the price or don't sell it. Never going to set foot inside again and bring my business to more honest establishments

What really does it for me is: how yellow are the bananas? When I buy bananas I want to eat them right away, I don't want to wait. This place never! NEVER! Has yellow bananas. Over all it's no different than any other grocer, although it is a little cheaper here.
