The Butchery offers up exceptional meat cuts for it's customers. Staff are friendly and attentive. Glass show cases are always clean and well organized. Prices tend to be on the expensive side especially when buying a prime cut of steak but the meat is top quality, so give them a try. I'm sure you'll be pleased. Also inside is Vera's Burgers. One of the best hamburgers in Ottawa. My buddy Brian and I go there several times a year and enjoy the great food. I'm upset that they stopped selling Coke in the glass bottles. I just discovered The Butchery. What a revelation! The shop is clean and attractive, with a very long display of many dozens of cuts of meat, many marinated. I bought a marinated flank steak that was amazing on the BBQ tonight. They also carry some great sauces, including my favourite Rufus and Teague Blazing Hot sauce. You can buy frozen pies from The Big Apple, which are the best pies around. They have a burger shack inside....sadly I was too early. Some other time. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the boss a really good man. This was a great discovery and I will happily drive the 25 km to get there. Very highly recommended. read more

Don't come here hungry! Wow! This popped up when I plugged in 'butcher' near me. 15 min away. My first visit was a Sat. So busy! And for good reason. I was blown away by all the meat, the prepared goods. Burger counter. Some seating. Freezer choices. Some dried goods, bread. I got away with Chorizo, some lean ground beef and some beautiful olive oil. Is this place cheap? No! But, I pay for quality without batting an eye. Especially foodie stuff. Next round was a Tuesday aft. Ahhh. Better. I could see everything, not so packed. It was just after a long weekend so some things were sold out but I grabbed more lean beef, a chicken parm portion, a beef Jamaican patty and a stuffed potato. All were good! The chicken portion from the fresh cabinet was $11.50! More than my lb of ground beef! But it was a filling piece and fed me x 2. I love this place. read more

The is typically always good, but as of lately it has fallen off, especially at the hot food counter with the weekend staff. Portion size has definitely changed over the last year or two. I want to thank Fred and the entire staff for helping me pull off a wonderful surprise Christmas meal for my elderly parents. I placed the order online and set a delivery time. Easy peasy. Everything arrived in two boxes nicely packed. Christmas eve snacks (sausage rolls, eggs rolls) to a full Christmas Day spread. Awesome! The meats are gorgeous!! They also offer ready to eat foods that are ready to go. Why oh why have I never been here before? We went in for this visit partly out of curiosity and partly as a treat, and I got an eye full!! First off, The Butchery shares this space with Vera's Burger Shack, butcher on the right, burgers on the left. And you just KNOW where they're getting their beef! We went in expecting to try the burgers out, but could not resist looking at what the butchery has to offer. Well done! Can't wait to try them out!! Beware, though, the Butchery is not cheap!! Definitely, THE nicest butcher shop I've ever been to. If I lived in the area I'd be there all the time. They have a wall to wall glass counter displaying all their goodies. Just their selection of sausages had me impressed. I have no doubt they'll have whatever your heart desires. They also have frozen specialty foods and ready made foods behind the counter. The egg rolls look amazing! They also have a wall of jarred sauces and condiments. It's nice place, very clean looking and last but not least, they've got Vera's burgers located within. read more

I came to check out the quality of their meats, as I had a craving for a freshly BBQ'd rib steak. I called beforehand to ask about pricing, and the price was almost the same as Farmboy ($1-2 more)! Farmboy did not have any sales on their rib steak, so I purchased one at the Butchery. I also got one of their shrimp springrolls (which looked very large) for $3, a pickle (from Moishes!), and tried the Vera burger, a hotdog, and the fries. They make the food fresh, and you choose the toppings you want on the small white sheet of paper for each item. Burger: I got basically all of the toppings and sauces for my burger, and it was ginormous! The patty was tender, moist, and flavorful with all the toppings. I REALLY enjoyed it, and think paying $7 for it was much more worth it than say, a $15 burger from the Works! The dog was pretty normal, and I would not get it again. The fries were cut thick and you can add gravy on it for no extra charge, which is what I did! Service: The workers are really friendly and seem to enjoy working there. This place is amazing. Just recently discovered this great market and casual dining. I have purchased Vera's burgers and the Butchery sausages that are made in house. SO GOOD! We return a few weeks later to dine in and shared the 24oz Texan rib steak that was cooked to a perfect medium. The quality of beef and the care they took to cook up our dinner was better than most steak houses. The service was asking and the atmosphere was fun! Staff brought out our meal with hot plates. They checked on us once to be sure our steak was cooked as we order. Another staff member checked on us when our serving platter was cleaned off ask for any feedback. The best in quality meats and attentive service. The bacon wrapped filet mignon is fantastic - they wrap the bacon around the meat for you, so pesky toothpicks - just butcher string. They are very knowledgeable and only use the finest meats - far above AAA standard. Chicken, pork - all meats are great. The deli is super and the prepared foods are always well done. read more
