    Country Special

TL: DR exceptional service, and good food, a great place for a quick bite to eat when you're near the Kingston waterfront, but as always good location comes with a higher price. I walked around Kingston on a Friday afternoon with some friends looking to get some Asian Food, we walked down until we hit Cambodian Village. When we walked in and the aroma of chilies, lemongrass and garlic immediately hit me. There were so many tasty sounding items on the menu, and the waitress was kind enough to offer me some suggestions. She was extremely helpful and nice, and the service was definitely a highpoint. I ended up ordering the Cambodian spring rolls as an appetizer ($6.95) and the country special ($13.95). The spring rolls came (3) first (pictured below) with a peanut, fish sauce, and carrot dipping sauce. The spring rolls were crispy and delicious, and it was nice that they were cut in half. The issue was that they were a little over priced for what I was getting and wish I got a little bit more. Next came the country special, pictured below that came with rice. The country special was like a traditional Indian curry but with a Cambodian twist, it included chicken and tomatoes. This dish was delicious, and I enjoyed it a lot. I just wish that there was a little bit more curry to come with the sauce as well as other competitors serve their dishes with more food. In conclusion the service was a high point the food was good, and the atmosphere was cookie cutter Cambodian/Thai restaurant. Thought it was good there are few Cambodian/Thai restaurants in Kingston that you can get cheaper and larger portions. Food 4/5 Atmosphere 3/5 Service 4.5/5

I'm so worried about small family restaurants like Cambodian Village during COVID. This restaurant's food is simply incredible, it's that good. Unfortunately right now we can't dine in, but takeout is available, therefore each weekend our family drive to Kingston for Brockville for our Favouite Numbers, 21, 39, 15, and 22 with shrimp. It's so good and we must know it's going on 21 years tradition. Best restaurant in Kingston for sure! Sorry in Ontario

    awesome spicy sauce!

What a surprise to find such great authentic Asian cuisine in little ol Kingston! I have eaten Asian all around the world and I have to say that this place does great flavours. They do their own spice mixes and are pretty good at it. I ate here twice during my 4 day stay downtown and would be a regular haunt if I lived here. A small dining area but the family run kitchen churns out dishes very quickly and are very accomodating and are happy to cater to menu changes to suit individual tastes.

Amazing flavours not found elsewhere! #1 is an all time favourite of our family. Usually the first meal we get when coming to Kingston.

Amazingly good Cambodian food, especially on a budget! A small hole-in-the-wall place for quick, but excellent, Cambodian cuisine.

We came here for a late lunch, seeking some warm soup amidst the drizzling weather outside…read more Cambodiana has been open for many years now, but my boyfriend (a Queens grad) has never been... but no time like the present! The place takes only debit or cash, so don't forget to bring more than just your credit card! We shared a pad thai, a Cambodiana (green curry based) soup, and then got an iced coffee to go. All were soooo good!! The Cambodiana had a slight kick, but was quite milky rich with coconut milk. It was loaded with chicken strips and bamboo shoots. It basically tastes like a flavourful, watered down green curry... but I'm not complaining! The pad thai was not greasy nor too soft / soggy. There were a few pieces of plump shrimp and the portion sizes were very generous! We were stuffed upon finishing the two mains, and even had to leave some rice behind. I had a coffee craving, so we got a coffee before leaving. At first, I was shocked by the price tag (almost $6 for a one size / small), but the iced coffee was so smooth and rich. It basically tasted like a Vietnamese iced coffee, but much less stringent and not as sweet. A lot of effort was also put into it, with small crushed up bits of ice that quickly cooled down the drink. Delicious! Would love to come back again for Cambodian food.

Excellent food with great, hearty portions! I had the tofu pad thai with Thai style stir-fried…read morenoodles with fried tofu, green onion, bean sprouts, and roasted peanuts which was delicious! I liked that there was a good amount of peanuts sprinkled on the pad thai, giving it texture, and the tofu was soft, tasty, and altogether fantastic. I also tried some of the panang curry tofu which, served with a base of coconut milk, tasted fresh and yummy. One of my favourite parts of this restaurant was its ambience -- it's a homey and cozy place and it was fairly quiet when I went on a Wednesday evening. Their hours are pretty limited though (until 8pm on all nights and they're closed on Sundays) so I would keep an eye out for that. Our server was excellent and the location of the restaurant is pretty sweet too -- right in front of the hospital with all the downtown bus stops. I will definitely be back!
