It makes for a good night out with friends, even in the middle of the week. I went one Tuesday night for a drink after work with colleagues, on our way out of the pub, we passed Reflex and it just seemed like fun so we went in for just one drink and ended up staying till the wee hours of the morning. There wasn't any trouble (on any of the nights I've been there), met lots of nice people, danced and partied and now go back on a regular basis. I've been to a few other 80's themed places as well and they're all usually fun, but I particularly enjoy Reflex more because I like the atmosphere.

If you want to large it, have a boogie, make friends with strangers and wake up with a saucepan next to your head, coming here is totally the right way to start your night. This place is part of the same group as The White Hart and The Antelope, which is just a few doors down. It's loved by the cool kids of the south and treated like their mecca. It's a strange mix with funny hair cuts, skinny jeans, plaid shirts who also mingle with white bootcut jeans and tops from Jane Norman. Nothing wrong with it, I'm just saying its a weird mix. Drinks are reasonable and there is loads of sitting space. It's just a bit of an arse when you get there that they have all been reserved for the rest of the night. The place is just back from Mitcham road and there will be big men on the door. They won't let you in if you come too late though as it gets full quick and becomes one in one out.

It is dark and dingy in there so it really is not the best place to hang out in the day, unless you want to sit on one of the big sofas and have one of their special big sarnies. They are good. Drinks too are pretty cheap and of a good variety. I have been to a good few gigs here, once as part of the new cross festival. Their sound system is far, far too loud for the size of the place, I always come out with my ears ringing. However, the crowd is always up for a laugh and the bar men always join in the heckling if someone truly appalling performs. The owner is a great guy and encourages nights to be held there. Entering the bar, I first was asked if I was over 21, any lady takes that as a compliment. Inside mystic atmosphere welcomed me: candles, chill out music and chandeliers hanging from the sealing. You know what - despite my entire preconception I liked it. It is not a place were locals go out as it is so central in London, but lots of people start their night there for some after work drinks. This is also more the clientele - people in suits and skirts. I ordered a red wine and some olives - but I guess this is more of a cocktail bar. I also did the toilet test - very clean and styled, another factor, which seemed exceptional. If you walk around the corner there will be a different area waiting for you which has even more the glamorous and oriental look - jewels all over!

The Tapestry night last Friday had a very retro feel to it - the audience would have been around in the 70's and loved being taken back to this era. The Social Club is split into a bar area and a hall with seating, dance floor and stage. The decor appears to be original, so does the carpet in the ladies toilet allegedly the gents urinals are very cosy. Choice of drinks is basic (more than one beer on draft, mind), no ice in your G&T, etc, but also cheap-ish. The DJ was excellent - no idea what half of the stuff was, but great to hear Deep Purple at the disco. Next time I'll make sure I go with people who are into dancing. I could have carried on for hours, shame it closes so early (1 am or thereabouts). Towards the end a food trolley is pushed into the bar, overflowing with sausages and other greasy treats. They are sold in aid of a good cause and certainly soak up any access alcohol. I was in two minds whether I should write about this at all, or keep it a secret. Well, I hope it appeals to people like myself who are always on the lookout for a real experience. At the moment, this is still a very unpretentious place - long may it continue.

There is a very good mix of people and no judgement. The place stinks like an old dirty pub, sometimes they make you pay £10 to enter which is a total rip off, Saturday nights are quite cheesy, the guy at the coat check is more than useless and must be on valium, which creates crazy lines to get you coat back, staff is just unfriendly and still needs to learn how to make G&Ts but hey maybe one should only drink beer there, no need to tip, I left £1 for each drink but never get a thank you or a better service for the 10 other drinks I bought. Weirdly enough, Lo Profile isn't stationed underneath sister bar Profile on Frith Street, instead it's tucked away on Wardour Street although the queue peppers the late night streets on occasion. Formerly Camouflage, the club has been refurbished, currently owned by Vince Power and is a part of the Gaydar portfolio of W1 clubs. Each night is themed, the music ranging from classic, funky dance and electro-house to more progressive house. Good space, male dominated and fairly priced, but in a different league to G.A.Y Late or Candy Bar.
