Worthing has plenty of bars, mostly chain type ones or of similar vibe, but this fairly new micropub truly is amazing. Opened and run by a true gent named Nigel, what is delivered when you visit is a warm welcome accompanied by a perfectly poured pint. A complete free house, Anchored supports the local breweries mainly around Sussex to bring you the freshest real ales and ciders. A lovely little bar hidden away in Preston Street. Not obviously a bar from the outside and so only really attracts people who are in the know ! The crowd is always really mixed and the age range is varied. The actual bar is tiny, however, manages to pack every single drink you could possibly want in the few shelves behind it. Lots of options which you would never get anywhere else. Staff are really friendly and laid back. Has quite a few seats for such a small bar. Sometimes gets too busy to get a table - but you usually can. Often has a DJ spinning great uplifting vinyls on a deck.

It has a surprisingly modern decor with yellow walls, sofas and low tables. Because of its location it attracts locals and city visitors alike, but it can get a bit chavvy. It's a great stop off for some traditional pub grub after a hard days shopping. They have live music nights every Tuesday which is usually local acoustic acts, but there's also heavier cover bands including a regular Jimi Hendrix impersonator.

Slightly grotty looking outside, it's nicer inside, and a lot more slick than you'd expect. There's a decent choice of beers and a lunchtime food menu.

Explore futher though, and you find smaller rooms, the size of a small living room with a few sofas and tables. It does really feel in these parts of the pub as if you are in someone's house. Upstairs, there is a large function room, which also provides extra seating on busy nights. It's often used for band nights and big screen football. The place is stuffed full of interesting nooks and crannies and things to look at, without being too self-consciously cool. The toilet graffiti is also a constant source of amusement.

The layout of the pub is great. There aren't many big pubs which still manage to feel cosy, but the individual rooms/areas of The Prince Albert mean that even at its emptiest times (which isn't often) the place still feels homely and warm. Each room is decorated uniquely and there's cool music posters, most signed by famous bands and DJs, hanging throughout the pub. They make for good snooping material whilst you're mulling over a pint. Upstairs there's a decent sized live music venue where bands from Brighton and beyond grace the stage. The sound system is good, but the room does get a little hot in the summer months. The staff are part of the furniture in this place, and they're all super friendly, whilst still managing to look uber cool. The prices are very reasonable considering the pubs location and clientèle, and they serve a good range of ciders, beers, wines and spirits. The foods not bad either, and they serve meals much later than any other Brighton establishments. The only downside to the place is the lack of a garden. There is a small patio at the back of the pub, but it's usually very busy, and the seating outside the front of the pub (which there is a lot of) is right on the roadside. But all in all this is a great place and worth visiting just to see the Banksy if nothing else.

It is quite expensive, but so wonderfully worth it: classy cocktails in a gorgeous environment. Don't miss it! Valentinos has been a hidden favourite of many a late night drinker in Brighton for years, and deservedly so. Everything about this bar is excellent: the cocktail menu, the classy set-up, the knowledgeable mixologists... I have spent many an evening enjoying cocktails out on the balcony, smoking a cigarette, swanning like Oscar Wilde: I can only recommend it ;) I don't feel there is much I can say to describe Valentinos: it is indescribably excellent, they can make any cocktail you want, regular guests get treated well, the decor is beautiful... You'll have to just see it for yourself. And you must, everyone, you really, really must.

Floor to ceiling windows lead to a little balcony, great for smokers or for summer people watching. There is an excellent cocktail menu, and staff definitely understand the art of mixology. Careful with the long islalnd iced tea though - it's lovely, but very strong!

Loads of live gigs and fun nights as the pictures suggest. Always busy, especially on a big sporitng event TV showing. Good, inexpensive lunches can be had, which is very much family orientated. They seem to have the day/night balance right. My nephews use this place and always come to see"the old boy" when he's on his way to the Italian nosh- shop!! In another way, if felt a bit more like one of those various chain pubs that you see all over the place, and as such really didn't impress me all that much. In a sense there are a lot of other decent pubs, and as well as having a classy feel about it, it was also reasonably crowded, which meant that my experience here wasn't all that fantastic. While it wasn't one of the best, it wasn't hugely bad.

The inside is so cosy that on a really busy night - when there's clusters of people standing - you usually end up with someone's elbow or handbag in your face. Luckily, the atmosphere is so friendly and laidback nobody seems to notice or care! There's a cluster of seats outside and a ramshackle assortment of wooden tables and chairs inside. Gig posters decorate the hallways and toilets and there's live jazz and acoustic bands most weeks. The rest of the time, the music depends on which bar staff are working. Most of the time they seem to rotate classic rock, indie and hip hop but I was once subjected to an hour of speed metal. I would have left but it was torrential rain outside. If they'd played The Supremes or Amy Winehouse instead, they'd probably have an extra star. :-)

Entering, there is a small bar, with a little bar seating for those who drink fast. The best feature though, is the strangely lit main seating area, a drinker's fairy cavern. A mass of blue fairy lights cover the stark white ceiling, and the effect this creates (especially after a few vodkas!) can be slightly disorienting, in a good way. Outside, like its neighbours, the place has some outside seating, which in summer is a great people watching spot. Its proximity to the Dome and to the Theatre Royal means that this is also a great choice for a pre-show drink.
