Downstairs there's comfy leather arm chairs and sofas whilst upstairs is a mix of sofas and wooden tables and chairs. I've never been on a Sunday but I believe the Sunday Roast here is pretty tasty and there's a good choice of different meat and veggie dishes to choose from. The bar also stocks a great range of spirits, bottled beers and ales - which makes it a great place to pop in for a Guiness after a long, windy walk on the sea-front.

It's a world in miniature, a microcosm if you will, and aptly, this pub is somewhere that has universal appeal. As a result you'll find all walks of life in here, from work suits to artists, blue collars to writers. I'm pleased to see all the Yelp love for my first Brighton pub experience. I suppose I'll always look at it with rose-tinted glasses - it was the day I got my nose pierced, the day I left my office job, the day I discovered Yelp, the evening I dined al fresco in October (thank you, weird and wonderful Brighton weather), the evening the BF wowed the crowd with his kerazee guitar skills and all in all my Brighton debut. The sales advisor Chloe confirmed we could either move to an evening show or have a full refund as we couldn't attend the later show. We requested a refund and now we find they are uncontactable, no response from anyone still awaiting a full refund or any information. In a sense there are a lot of other decent pubs, and as well as having a classy feel about it, it was also reasonably crowded, which meant that my experience here wasn't all that fantastic. We'd bought a voucher through Wriggle - hot dog & free flowing prosecco for £9.95 (1-4pm) & I must admit we weren't sure how it would live up to our expectation but we were both really pleased - our hot dogs were really tasty, although a little small to be classed as a meal, but the free flowing prosecco was exactly that! After being given a wrist band to show that we were in the prosecco club, we never had an empty glass, staff wandered around all afternoon topping up our glasses, we never had to go to the bar or ask for a top up. It was great - I will definitely go back, it was such great value!

For students they offer cheaper pints on Stella Artois 4% and a couple of other beers which helps to keep this place half youthful in terms of clients. Otherwise most pints are under £2.50 which is good for the Brighton area so it is worth checking out. They do food on a Sunday and I have heard from reliable sources that the roasts are nice if you get in just after midday.
