Each that they have a reputation to uphold for actual buissness. If you want to see change report the castles to the groups you best believe fits your practice concerns. Do not let your local TCG Owner bully literally anyone and make hostile environments if corporate could fire you for it, anyone can sure sue the castle for this harassment level of treatment due to how the owner views "professionalism". "To report a business for fraud on Google Maps, use the "Suggest an edit" feature on the listing to report it as "Offensive, harmful, or misleading," or fill out the Business Redressal Complaint Form for complex cases. Also, report fraudulent business practices to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov. " -Per google reviews policy "This business may be offering something in exchange for reviews, or pressuring people to leave reviews The Maps fake engagement policy prohibits businesses from: Offering incentives --..." (see photo word count limit) -(August 18th 2023)- initial review I had gone looking though their bulk cards and I came across a card that lacked authenticity. It wasn't an expensive card, however, when I brought it up to the owner, they seamed to take it as a personal attack that I had the gull to inform them of a fake card in their collection. I honestly wouldn't have as much as a problem if the associate next to the owner hadn't mentioned that they haven't looked through these cards yet and the owner herself mentioning that they had just bought these bulk cards off of someone. The owner acted towards me as if I chose to come in and said, " I think this black lotus here is fake, can I get a discount " but no, I was trying to inform the store of a card that isn't legitimate to sell if it is fake. So I was trying help. It isn't uncommon to come across fakes, the owner, herself, kept referring to a stack of cards that also were fakes, so I am understanding that this shouldn't be a one off deal. My concern here is that this is my first and probably last time in the castle. On top of that I wasn't even in there for more than 5 mins. Everything was great, the other staff was great, however the owner ruined everything by escorting me out because I told her the way she was talking to me was rude, which she proceeded to put her hands on me as I was trying to leave to "enforce" my exit. This was due to me attempting to apologize to the other staff for "causing" this accidental interaction. If you choose to come here in search for a welcoming environment, don't. This place is not bad, just the owner. -(August 19, 2023) -Update after response 1 If I could give any more negative you would win the worst possible rating. Man, you state that I should try my luck for "disrespecting" cards by having a stack and setting a card aside just as anyone would if they were shuffling through cards or decks for a card? Your threats of unwarranted toxicity can stay at the castle. I've already been to the other places in Tyler and I have been gladly welcomed. Your ego isn't one that should be running a community driven business. All of your negative review responses on your behalf are unprofessional and disgusting. Nothing is professional, you send your personal feelings in the response because you were personally hurt over the smallest of customer service issues or concerns. You kick out and ban people for the very same ego. All of your good reviews are your friends that only you allow in your "special castle club". Honestly, I see no issue with not every having to come across you and you alone. Your sons were nice and helpful, they don't deserve the toxic work environment of your ego. read more

My fiancé and I came here from February 2025-2026 for weekly Magic the Gathering events and prereleases. I thought the owner was strict and treated people so harshly to protect players, but she just lacks any emotional regulation. For the smallest reasons, she'll start raising her voice and be aggressive, demeaning, and insulting. Those on the receiving end have to sit through a temper tantrum or snide remarks as they're effectively called stupid or accused of being malicious over misunderstandings. Everyone else has to awkwardly wait it out and be uncomfortable the rest of the event. This has happened every time, and kids are often playing Pokémon in the background so are subjected to her rants. She refuses to sell new or limited product to anyone but her regulars. We came here for a year and weren't close enough to buy the Lorwyn Eclipsed decks. Nobody asked her to hold them back, she was just in case they wanted them. She mentioned Wizards of the Coast has pride events leading up to pride month in 2025, but with a stink face said, "We don't do that kind of thing here." Combined with a Yelp reviewer saying she confronted them for asking about gay romance manga and a Google reviewer claiming trans discrimination, it seems likely that she just hates the LGBT community. She encourages players to not be nice and target the threat at the table. Being part of the game, it happens to everyone. It sucks, but most recognize why they were targeted. Yet when it happens to her, she becomes hostile. Being the owner, everyone has to back off or risk being kicked out. She's won before by pulling rank like this because we didn't want to be screamed at again and just stopped attacking her. It's incredibly hypocritical, and abusive to verbally attack people over a casual card game. It's not acceptable in any way. Also problematic is her playing in the first place. She's the owner. She's running the events, entering results, doing pairings for prereleases, acting as a judge, forcing everyone to wait if she needs to help a customer up front, knocking paying customers out of prizing and keeping any prize she 'wins' to herself. This is predatory and a clear conflict of interest. She refused to own up to any of this when I brought it up. I was calm and clear in my wording being that I didn't like being mistreated or seeing others mistreated, and wanted the store to have a more fun, welcoming environment. She responded to that constructive feedback by blocking me on Facebook and banning us both. This is why I've never seen anyone defend themselves in the store. She makes a big show of being Christian, yet discriminates against the LGBT community and treats people in general terribly. Then her response to someone pointing it out and asking her to improve is to block and ban them. No accountability, just hate. It's a shame, because they have plenty of product at fair prices. She just makes the store unbearable to be in. read more

First off, I just want to say how appreciative I am of the owner, Ms Trish. She answered questions over the Facebook page, updated me as times changed, etc, and I want even a customer yet...very few shops have spent the extra time like that for a potential but non guaranteed customer, let alone to this extent. Once I was in-store, I quickly realized why I was treated so professionally and with such a humble attitude - within minutes, I picked up that she knew her current customers very well (I heard her ask how a customer's child or family member were doing at least 2 times before it was my turn). The fact that she builds up such a relationship with her customers shows that she has a deep commitment to her regulars. That right there makes this shop amazing, but she didn't stop there. It took a little while for her to get to me, but in the end, I didn't mind - her customer service was well worth the wait. She weekend with me to find the products I was looking for and was very conversational. She also gave me some good advice on how I could go about getting the community, where I live, involved in a particular game I look forward to enjoying. She worked out a deal with me for some products I was hoping to purchase, hunted them down in the back, and even explained to me some useful details on a game I was looking to get started in. She was very humble and an all-around, sweet individual - she even talked with my wife and gave us some advice for our kiddo. I can't relate to any if the negative comments because even with me as an outsider, she treated me like a regular. For her attitude and helpfulness alone, I'd be willing to go out of my way to pay a visit when I come back to town. Because she went out of her way several times to help me out, and because the environment at the shop indicated this was a place where you come to hang out comfortably and are treated with both respect and like extended family, I feel I will also share this place with family and friends alike. This was an all around wonderful experience that started with a Facebook message, continued thru the in-store visit, and continues after the visit. I'm grateful for the experience, the wonderful attitude, and all the help and advice she shared with me. You've made yourself a long term customer, and as I come back to town to visit, I'll make an effort to at least come by and say hello - and I don't do that for just anyone, because while I'm easy going, it takes quite a bit to impress me to this extent. Don't let the negative reviews turn you away. Here's why I say that: The owner Trish is old-school, and that's guaranteed why 99.9% percent of reviews for this business are bad. I have personally visited all of the stores in Tyler, and I'm on good terms with all four CCG stores in town. There's your hyper-competitive stores in town that focus on the competition aspect above all else; and there's The Castle. The business focuses primarily on a family-friendly atmosphere that caters towards younger children, which you will not find at the other CCG shops in town. There are a couple of rules to her store which have been mentioned ad nauseaum in previous reviews (especially when it comes to trading cards), but Trish has these rules in place to make sure that no one is shafted or scammed, which is easy to do when you're playing stuff like Magic: The Gathering, Yugioh, and Pokemon. I've heard the stories that have been said about this store, but I've not heard of any adults being banned from the store to my knowledge. After all, there is a sign at the front door that expresses the right for them to refuse service to anyone for any reason whatsoever. Trish or her son Cody (I think I got that right) will also teach you the basics of any CCG game in the store too! (I may look at learning Yugioh in the near future). read more

Best store in Tyler! has all of the newest anime merchandise, Card games, everything. The owner's super nice and welcoming and treats everyone like family. The store has rules, but only to mind your language, not wear saggy pants, and other things of that nature. Basically if you have any amount of public decency you'll be fine. However, if you like to take advantage of people, spout bad words and lie and cheat people for a living like Josue D. then you belong somewhere else. If you win their tournaments they don't ban you, they take a picture of you to put on facebook, to commemorate your victory. Their are no real play rules except that you have to be playing the game correctly. As in, no cheating, bribery, coersion. Most family-friendly place in Tyler, I absolutely reccomend it to anyone! Plus, the owner always works with customers to make you a deal. She even made me a great deal on some used video games I wanted to trade in! Whether your from Tyler, or just passing by, you should absolutely give it a try! read more

Unfortunately, Yelp allows reviews from folks who haven't even been in our store to stay up here....guess that's why Yelp is under investigation, being sued and is predicted to be out of business in the next year or so! Most businesses are boycotting Yelp and as a small business owner, I can understand why. Most of the time, the reviews posted do not fully represent the whole picture and some folks use this site to post hate. The Castle is so much more than a store, its an awesome experience! They have quality merchandise at great prices. There are tournaments, movie nights, card games, video gaming and the list goes on and on. This is my son's favorite place to go in Tyler. We just love owner Mrs. Trish she has the biggest heart and the sweetest spirit! She is always so helpful and is hands on, always helping and teaching everyone the new games and encouraging everyone to be their best and treat others they way they want to be treated. We have been going to the Castle for over 6 years now and are so thankful that Tyler has such a wonderful place for people of all ages to go and not only shop and play the various types of games, but build great friendships and bond with others who have a love for anime, fun and fellowship! read more

I've been going to The Castle for about five years and they have been very good to me, prices are pretty good, people are nice and welcoming, as for rules you must remember this is her store so you must abide by them, they aren't crazy either don't look like a slut when you walk, in no cursing because younger children are there, and don't cheat are probably just the main biggest. The location may be a little far but it's worth it for their Movie Nights once a month I believe I'm on a 13 constant streak without missing, I reccommend The Castle for your Anime and MagicTG needs! The rumors are true! The owner is horrible! I now know why this place is called the castle. Its because there's a little tyrant of a woman that runs the place. She is rude and awful. Also she chooses who she wants to sell to and if she feels like selling to you. Do yourself a favor and run far away!!!! The tournament scene here is horrible. The owner rigs the tournaments and pairings to give her sons advantages. She bans people on a daily basis over menial things. There are absurd rules like no trading without her booking and approving said trade. No conceding in any match, causal or competitive. You can't even say Crap or shut up without offending her. Always has hard to find items at fair, market price. Gracious to treat my wife and I to bottled drinks while she looked up prices. She recently took the time to teach me Magic: The Gathering and accommodates my dietary restrictions when she has events, such as tournaments and movie nights. Overall, it's an East Texas gem. She refuses to sell merchandise to anybody who isn't a regular customer, and bans anyone who isn't a regular customer. I never worry about my kids when they are at The Castle because I know that it is a safe place to be. The Castle also has a great range of products.
