I even asked am I looking in the right place... There was a place on the shelf but it was not in stock. I've been back once or twice and it was still not there. I was super frustrated because I don't have a car to get to another town and Walmart has been out of it too.... So then I saw there was a sale on hair brushes the last time I was there and I desperately needed one for my cat. I was strapped for cash, so I asked the lady who seemed to be the manager if the cheaper one would do the job. The cheaper one had bristles with a tiny plastic ball on the tip of each bristle. I was worried that the one with the metal bristles with the sharp tips would hurt Little Kitty's skin. She said that with the cheaper one, the balls don't catch the hairs in the undercoat, the metal bristles are the way to go. I took her word for it, I've never bought a cat hair brush before. She was right. Metal bristles catch the hairs, especially the undercoat (that shorter, fluffier hair), like a MAGNET and I was pulling 5 or 6 brush fulls of hair out in the first 5 to 10 minutes. The guy who rang me up was eager to answer my questions about flea powder and such when I first got there. He rang the brush up full price, I paid for it with cash and then said "Oh yeah!" So I handed him back all my change from the $20 bill I gave him so he could re-ring the brush at the sale price and give me back the right change. He re-rings it up and hands me the exact change he handed me the first time. And I was like "That's what you gave me the first time." And he was like "Oh yeah!" So we had a pretty good laugh about that. Well, dang it. They let me park my bike inside that one time, AND they make me laugh. I gotta change my review from a 3 to a 4.

When we arrived we looked at the birds first and then I went to find the pet specialist to help us. When she came over she Greeted us with "what's up" like we were bothering her. Annoying and unprofessional but we ignored that and inquired about the birds available. We then asked if we could hold the bird we were interested in and she said No it's against policy because of Covid... Really how dumb. I'm not going to pay over $800 for a bird if I can't hold it. She assumed we were just lookie lou's and really was just flat out roud. When we told her we want to buy a bird today but we're not gonna do that if we can't see if we have a connection and how we feel about it by holding it, she fired back with why didn't you start with that. Needless to say we did not buy a bird from the store. As we were walking out my husband said that he wanted to talk to the manager and inform her how rude the employees was. Unfortunately the manager really wasn't any better.

They have an array of pet foods, livestock foods, bird foods, they even have chinchilla feed. Apart from feed, there is also a great selection of pet toys, bird houses, and agricultural products. However, do yourself a favor and stop in on any spring day and check out the "seed buffet". This is an old fashioned counter of over 30 fresh seed types. You can hand pick and measure your own seeds to put in little envelopes or just explain to any Brekke that you'd like to grow any vegetable and they will step you though the options and measure out exactly how many seeds you need. Don't buy generic packs of too many or too few seeds, get the exact plants in the right numbers and enjoy a great chat with a Brekke. A great place to feel good about Iowa.

The service from the staff was great, and they were all very friendly. They do have quite a decent selection of fish as well as other supplies and animals. The store is kept clean and organized. All of the animals look like they're in great condition and like they are very well cared for. The prices aren't too steep either. Overall, this is a nice location, and we will definitely be shopping here more often.
