The address posted for this took us to a dead end at a residential street. Can't very well review the place as for us it didn't exist and we were getting pretty hangry by this point. read more

During our stay, Monday - Thursday they are only open for a small window between 5-8:30pm. We decided not to go the brewery tour, so I can't comment on if it is worthwhile, but I think I would try doing it next time if we ever were to go back to Derry. The brewery has a full restaurant which has fantastic reviews and was also recommended by our friend who has gone before. We weren't hungry yet for dinner, so we opted to just visit the Taproom. The Taproom is also very cool and has a great vibe with interesting artwork. What we really liked about this brewery was it felt like a craft brewery and offered a lot of variety in their beers. It was the first place that we found that offered a sour beer, they had a wit beer, and they even had a hard seltzer (which honestly wasn't very good unless you like gin drinks). We enjoyed a few drinks and the music for a hour or so before deciding on dinner.
4.5 stars for lunch w/ brew…read more I got the Cauliflower Steak at 12€ and a taster set of 3 brews (the Boom, Punt Purse, and the IPA 2.3%). The Cauliflower Steak was absolutely delicious with some fantastic flavors to it, and thankfully it was NOT greasy (unlike some other places I ordered cauliflower in the UK). I would highly recommend this dish. As for my taster set, the Punt Purse and 2.3% IPA were both fine, but it was "the Boom" that stole the show in my opinion....I should've just gotten a pint of that. The only negative was our server, who didn't seem into his job at all. The attention he gave us was all quite perfunctory....maybe he was just having an off day because he had something serious on his mind that day, but if not, he might consider looking for a position other than a server (since he clearly didn't seem to be into it).
Full bar and loads of beer on tap.

Our lunch in Browns in Town was a feast that probably could have tied us over until the next day…read more The meal was so filling that I felt I would need a wheelbarrow to be led away. But the food we ordered was worth feeling so full because it was wicked good. Located on Strand Road in downtown Derry, outside the City Walls, Browns in Town has a modern interior with brown wood walls in the primary dining area and a little postmodern-styled lounge in the front entrance. The vibes are fairly relaxed where you don't feel you have to dress up outside of jeans and a shirt to enjoy a meal. The food per our experience is certainly that of comfort and quality. One aspect my wife and I loved about Browns in Town, and many of the restaurants we visited in Northern Ireland and the Republic, is that on the menu we know which dishes are celiac friendly or have a celiac option, and note all the allergens present -- e.g., gluten, shellfish, dairy, eggs, nuts, etc. My wife is celiac, so this allowed us to choose this restaurant since it offers many gluten-free options -- and not just salad. Both of us ordered the local seafood chowder (I had the gluten version, while she had the celiac option), which was creamy, buttery, and delicious, loaded with a variety of seafood caught in the area and served with homemade bread. The Mushroom & Black Garlic Risotto was out of this world, with the pine nuts and parmesan providing a nice balance with primary ingredients -- also luscious and rich. The chefs cooked the risotto to perfection. I probably was fine just ordering that, as the black garlic chips (fries to us Americans) were overkill, but I couldn't help myself being at a restaurant for the first time in a city I have never visited before. My wife had the beer-battered cod in the gluten-free option and incredibly tasty, especially when combined with the mushy peas and tartar sauce. We didn't even attempt to order dessert because we were full to the point of being in a food coma. Fortunately, we had a lot of walking around ahead of us, which helped work off our meal a little. But I would absolutely return to enjoy some of the other fares they have on the menu.

Garlic bread is incredible though the "aioli" tasted like it was just mayo but the bread didn't need it at all. Goujons were good but the bbq sauce didn't taste bbq at all. The pepper sauce was nice though. Star here was the rotisserie chicken: fall off the bone and cooked perfectly. Again though, sauce was mid. Nothing on this menu needs a sauce (except Goujons) but they all come with them! Dishes def stand alone. All that said, the device made the meal!

We ordered drinks and had an easy wait in the entry "bar" area. We're vegetarian so we ordered the black bean and chickpea patty, which you can have topped with any of their traditional beef burgers styles and it was great! The patty was moist but not crumbly - a hard combo to pull off but the Flip Side did it. So I ordered mine "Scorcher" style and it was perfect. Great sriracha mayo, nice jalapeño relish, and the bun was super fresh. The lettuce was super weak but it's iceberg and it's winter so what can you really expect. My hubs and I also split the butter garlic fries and they were okay. A bit greasy when we got to the bottom but of course it was the butter poured on them --not like a spritz. Our friends ordered the cheese fries and said they were the best "chips" they'd ever had. I'm sure it didn't hurt that they also come covered in bacon. Our friends also had the beef version of the smoked stack and the American burgers and loved them. We also had the onion rings and a sundae. Our Irish friends thought the breading in the onion rings was too thin but I'd say they were pretty standard for rings in the states. So if you love burgers and chips for about €15 you leave here full and happy. Oh and our server Zach was amazing! So top marks all around!!!
