I went for testing and the person who tested me was nice. It took about a month for testing, and they said I would get results by the end of Oct 2025. Mind you this was a referral from another doctor who wanted me tested, so they are calling asking if I got my results. So, I call Oct 30th and the phone is disconnected. The building is closed, and they have a number you can text. They said threw text they moved and they are waiting on the Supervisor Deborah Koricke to sign off to send it to me. I call about a week later and no answer, I text message again and they say all you can do is keep emailing her and hopefully she will get it done. They give me her email and I message. Now its Dec 3 and nothing. I talked to my doctor because he was asking about it again and he advised me to file a report with the Board of Psychology and to seek legal counsel. Please think twice before using this place. The original person I seen Rachel Fuller seems nice, but the Management is the worst I have ever delt with and I have bad anxiety and it's just making it worse. read more

I been going to Center for Effective Living for 6 years nows since 2019. That's how I met my current counselor Kendra Shoup. She's an excellent counselor and I also counseled by Doug who heads the Anger Management Group and Counseling. I had two psychiatrists Melissa and Stephanie and now I'm working with Traci Renzulli as my new psychiatrist now Kendra,Traci and Doug are very excellent counselor and psychiatrist there at CFEL. Their quality of care is excellent and the office environment is very peaceful I don't watch TV over there. I'm a very happy client of CFEL for 6 years now read more

I was not too excited to start services here, as I read the reviews and it scared me. I had no choice, no other place did autism testing on children over the age of 12. I was surprised that we got an appointment and it didn't get cancelled on us as the reviews said would happen. The first guy we saw we very nice, attentive, answered questions, and helpful. He was the intake guy. After that my daughter saw Andy, which was her worst nightmare. He was hard to understand, and made her feel very uncomfortable. It took a long time to be able to switch to someone new for the remainder of the testing. Finally we got associated with Teisha who my daughter loved. We had our appointments, they went on without a hitch. I was hopeful in the process. That is, until we showed up for the final appointment, the day we were to get the results. Show up ON TIME and the doors are locked. A note was on the door from the landlord that if the company wants access to their office they needed to call the landlord (essentially they didn't pay their rent). The phones didn't work. Just rang and rang and rang. Couldn't leave a voicemail because the mailbox was full. I had ZERO communication from them for three weeks. No answers, nothing. No phone call that the appointment would be cancelled and they were closed. That appointment was beginning of July, and it's not mid-August and they are still not answering their phones. I drove to the Beechwood location as well just to try to get the results or speak with someone, and same thing. Closed. All locked up. Their website is active, their phone rings, but no one is apparently working. FINALLY after threatening a lawsuit, I got a response from the president of the company by email, who after multiple requests, I did get the results emailed to me. (I'm happy I got the results, and I'm happy that part is done, but it is concerning that they just emailed results without verifying who I was in an email. Apparently this company hasn't heard of HIPAA). For a company that is in the business of "effective living" they certainly are not helping people very well by just shutting down with no communication or plan to move forward. read more

This is the worst medical facility I have ever worked with. They double and TRIPLE book appointments so they can rake in extra cash, meanwhile, patients are sometimes waiting for over an hour to be seen, packed in the waiting room like sardines during a pandemic. No one ever wears a mask. They do not value our time; they only value the money they can make off of our illnesses. I don't have any huge complaints about my doctor, but it doesn't matter whether the doctor is competent when the office management makes the experience of being a patient so consistently terrible. Who cares how good the doctors are if you can't even see them because the office overbooked their schedule? I would've left years ago, but my doctor's only other location (not associated with CFEL) is nearly an hour away from my house. This is not based on one or two bad experiences, but rather a pattern continuously repeated for YEARS. This is undeniably deliberate. The ADMINISTRATION does not respect patients. You are a dollar sign in their eyes and nothing more. They have wasted countless hours of my life in that godforsaken waiting room. Calling them the worst medical facility is not an exaggeration. They are literally the very worst medical facility I have worked with in my decades of adult life. They don't even carry out testing correctly but are happy to send the bill for thousands of dollars to insurance. You read that right. They don't even carry out testing correctly. I didn't know that they did it wrong until I mentioned it to another behavioral health professional and a look of horror came over their face. Yeah. Apparently the test results aren't valid when you break it into a bunch of tiny sessions. Not sure how I'll ever get that money back. I strongly encourage anyone with similar issues to report them to your insurance provider. Notice any HIPAA violations? report that too. Avoid Center for Effective Living as much as possible. Don't believe me? Check out what their own employees say about them. Right now, they have a 2/5 score with 0% of employees recommending them on Glassdoor and a score of 2.6/5 on Indeed--most the indeed ratings are actually 1/5. There's a suspicious 5.0 score there that is throwing off the average. read more

Began going to this center in march for treatment for adhd which I had already been diagnosed with many years ago. This place had me going through treatment for almost 10 months without a "diagnosis". I was being tested multiple times per month which involved playing with blocks, putting patterns together and answering questions like "do you have frequent diahrreah" in order to determine my health needs from this center. I'm a 34 year old adult who is developed intellectually and found that this program and it's ability to assist in my treatment was entirely ineffective. I was forced to visit this center sometimes 3 times a month over the course of the last 10 months only to be told that I was testing above average for adhd based on how I answered repeat questions worded differently regarding whether or not "I abuse animals" or "does my soul leave my body" in order to determine whether I had adhd or not. It was completely ridiculous and humiliating and unacceptable. The problem with this center stems from a lot of core issues but the way in which they test is uncalled for and not effective in proper and swift diagnosis. Their methods are ancient and inappropriate. The process in which treatment is provided is long, drawn out and quite honestly, ridiculous. Testing for each category would get spread out throughout multiple 30 minute analyzations that started in march and were drawn out up to the date of this posting. I spoke with my primary care physician about continued assistance and he instructed me to cancel all ongoing appointments and to discontinue my attendance to this center. Based on the reviews, I am reassured that I made the right choice to alleviate myself from the inaccuracies of this treatment and hope this review resonates with anybody whom may deem this center as a possibility for their treatment. Angela, my initial contact person at this center was a delight. They also prescribed me medications outside of my treatment that had very negative reactions to my chemistry and only prolonged my treatment and caused other issues not necessary to even post about. Good luck getting a call back regarding appointments or to get feedback on appointments as there will be many and they will not be impactful anyways. read more

DO NOT GO TO SHAKELE (KELLY) BROWN! I used to have a great prescriber here. She left and I unfortunately got stuck with Shakele. I didn't like her attitude,  she is money hungry and wanted me to have an appt EVERY THREE WEEKS all bc of one of the medicines I am on. She said that is necessary with that medicine. This is untrue bc my appts had always been once every 4 months, and some friends I have on the same medicine see their Dr once every 6 months. Not only that but she wrote 2 of my 3 prescriptions WRONG. All she had to do was copy what I've received the past 2 years and instead when attempting to write her own she screwed up the dosage and quantity of pills on TWO PRESCRIPTIONS. I should have known something would go wrong since when it was time for her to write the prescriptions she said "umm okay let's try to do some math" as she tried to figure it out. I didn't contribute to her math lesson since she gets paid for that and she failed. If that isn't bad enough, I requested my records because I was leaving their practice. I had 2 appointments with Shakele. All of my appointments prior to her had the summary notes of our visit and what was discussed during the appointment included as it was supposed to. Today is June 23rd... for the one visit from APRIL 27th she had no summary notes at all on the appointment. The second visit, which was MAY 20th, there was no record of the appointment. I called the office to say I had not received the records for the May 20th appointment and also told them there was no notes on the April appointment . They talked to Shakele and she said she still had to enter it in the computer and to follow up in 3 days with them to see IF it was ready. AN appointment TWO months ago not completed, and an appointment ONE month ago with absolutely nothing in their system. Seems a little behind, and not legal to have no record of the appointments you are charging insurance for and collecting money on. So to summarize she requests you have  appointments way more often then any provider would for her gain, she CANT WRITE CORRECT PRESCRIPTIONS which obviously is very important and something as a PRESCRIBER that you cannot mess up, and she doesn't record the appointments  or write a summary of the visit as required. Seems like easy things to do. DO NOT GO TO HER, YOU CAN EASILY FIND SOMEONE WHO DOES THEIR JOB EFFICIENTLY!!! Then, as I picked up my records yesterday I told them to cancel my upcoming appointment and told her the date and time. She said she cancelled it. Then I got a confirmation call today for that appointment. I called them back and told them I was told they had cancelled it yesterday and whoever I talked to today said that person didn't cancel it and that she would do it now. Not a good office!!! I went here for anxiety and adult ADHD. I have been seeing a psychiatrist for many years, but he is retiring so I have to find a new one. My counselor, Doug, was great. The office staff is terrible. Calling and talking to a person is difficult, and they don't seem to want to work with you to find an appointment that works with your schedule. If you miss an appointment, they charge you $50. I tried to call an inform them that I couldn't make it, but I couldn't get ahold of a person. Then when I was scheduled to see Theresa, I arrived early. They asked me to wait in the waiting area, that's very cramped, and then after 20 minutes after my appointment time I still hadn't seen the dr. I don't need a psychiatrist that stresses me out. I will find a new dr., with better office staff. read more

If i could give it less i would. I got approved for med. marijuana for chronic neck pain. Lauren Kusi and Traci Renzulli stopped my xanax cold turkey. Im 61 and have a heart condition! Last time they did I had to physically go to their office and tell them "THIS IS ENOUGH" I dont think they have any idea what theyre doing. They seem to enjoy this power. I have never had a worse experience than with here. I regret that i was too nervous to find somewhere new, because i wasted 8 years with them. First off i was constantly being sent to new therapists because they kept quitting apparently, and none of them except one got a single thing done for me, and she left shortly after. One of the psychiatrists they employed named sara stein, she started our first appointment saying if i did anything she didn't like she'd have me sent to the acute psych ward, she followed through, she lied to the police and said i was suicidal when i said nothing even slightly related, actually i was doing relatively ok regarding that at the time. I was forced to go because the police are required to follow her statement not mine, the psych ward released me as soon as i saw a doctor because i absolutely didn't belong there. She also prescribed me klonopin in an inappropriate and inadvisable manner, it is an addictive medication that you should not take daily, she insisted i take it daily 3 times a day, i made sure of this, i asked her if it would get me addicted, she lied and said no, what happened? i was addicted to benzos for 2 years and can never use them again and that led to other addictions because of the worsened anxiety. The front desk is ABSOLUTELY INCOMPETENT. Cancelling appointments without warning, scheduling things without consent, rude, disregarded my pronouns and deadnamed me nonstop. Literally told me "we are not a charity, we are in this only for the money" when i was having trouble paying my bills and asked some to be forgiven, they will let mentally ill people who have difficulties with memory and communication rack up thousands of dollars in debt and then demand ALL OF IT UP FRONT AT ONCE until you beg them for a payment plan. My therapist made the mistake of saying "oh you don't have to pay" and apparently meant he'd waive a few appointment copays. I am autistic, i am diagnosed, he knew better than to be vague. Incidentally i admitted something embarrassing to him and he laughed at me for it and made fun of me, to my face. I've had several therapists do stuff that left me ashamed, embarassed, or afraid to come back. Anyway the front desk did not say a single word about it until i owed them over $2000. They one day suddenly demanded all of it up front at once. They said to me that if i really didn't want to get help and pay them they could always close my case. Recently i had made TONS of progress paying it off..... i thought. my copay had increased, somehow despite still paying more than my new copay was every single appointment, i had racked up $2000 in debt to them. i was paying $50 an appointment, rarely saw anyone due to the unaffordable cost, and my copay only increased from $20 to $40. where did that come from i ask? And finally, i am leaving, because they, without my permission, scheduled an appointment last week without my permission and without informing me. I was informed very near when their office closed on saturday, and they did not answer the phone despite me calling repeatedly to try and cancel. She made the excuse of "oh you should've left a voice mail!" What is the point, when the voice mail has never ever been checked or responded to in the entire 8 years i've made the mistake of giving them money? And regardless they would've received the voicemail within 24 hours of my appointment and regarded it as a no-show anyway. Without any prior warning at all, they closed my case entirely, and would not allow me to schedule any new appointments with anyone at all. i'm running out of space, they have left me for months without any medication due to a change in policy i was never informed of, and blamed me for it. If you value your mental health, go somewhere else, this is the worst, most unethical, most uncaring "mental health clinic" i have ever been to in my life, and everyone i know who has been there agrees. They need to go out of business. if i could knock the whole thing to 1 star i would. They wasted 8 years, this is what you get for loyalty! STAY. AWAY. read more

Eh, the people were fine (except one psychiatrist who was very condescending at my first appointment with him-got a call shortly after that he had left the practice, and it kind of seemed like the place had a high turnover rate). However, getting ahold of anyone for anything is nigh impossible, unless you need to make a payment; they definitely don't forget those calls. They canceled my appointment with the second psychiatrist after the first one left and said they would refill my prescription for another few months until I could see her. Not a big deal on canceling, but I had some questions for the doc before I refilled my prescription. I called and asked if I could reschedule and if they could just refill my prescription for a shorter amount of time until I saw the doctor. Long story short, phone calls and emails later and hearing nothing from anyone (aside from one phone call where they "kindly" reminded me to pay my $40 copay), I found a bunch of snail mail that had accidentally made its way into my neighbor's mailbox instead of mine, so I didn't see it. Who returns phone calls and emails with snail mail, especially at a mental health office, when people probably need more comprehensive and quicker care? Really bizarre, and it felt like nobody cared at all. On top of that, the building was really dilapidated and the waiting room was always filled to capacity, uncomfortably so, I would argue. they did not call me at our scheduled appointment time, or inform me it had be canceled. Then when I called them 15 minutes after they where suppose to call me, they then put me on with someone else who I was not scheduled with and had specifically before scheduled with a female. He was very unfriendly and did not make me fore comfortable. He informed me that this was only an intake and that was all we were doing when before I was not told this as I had been referred directly for an emotional support animal letter. I was a patient here and missed an appointment and was dropped by my counselor with no warning. I think their policy is that they can do this if you miss appointments but I did not receive a phone call or a letter, no warning. Did not receive a letter which they said I should have received. I just happened to call and they told me. Left a message for counselor and she did not call back. I was stuck without a counselor or medications. Counselor always said I was a model patient prior to this. Also billing department is overcharging me and would not return my phone calls. Still we have not. Very unprofessional and ugly depressing environment. Glad to have found a new place to get the services I need. read more

I have been to a couple other psychiatrists before. I picked this place as a doctor I had previously seen worked there. They cancelled my first appointment at the last minute. Because of that I had to see someone else. I was running low on my medication (anti-psychotics which I cannot stop taking suddenly) and I had to go see someone new. The new doctor was completely rude and unhelpful. I rescheduled with the first person I saw. She cancelled my appointment at the last minute again. I rescheduled and was 9 minutes late because of traffic. I called the office to tell them I would be there in 5 minutes and they said "ok, no problem I'll let her know". I arrived 9 minutes late and she had left for the day. I needed my FMLA paperwork completed or I would be fired. So they told me someone else would see me in 30 minutes. I waited 3 hours and the paperwork was filled out wrong. Every time I saw someone new they made me make a $200.00 counseling session on top of it and I had to explain over and over what my issues were. They also made me take a $300.00 genetics test in December and no one has yet to go over or look at the results. They haven't even contacted me about it. I called 3 times when I was low on a medication and left voicemails. No one ever called me back. I also called 3 times to schedule a new appointment for my FMLA paperwork and they couldn't see me for 2 1/2 weeks. Once my paperwork is completed (and I will get fired if it completed incorrectly again) I will never, ever go back to that office. I have never experienced such an incompetent office and staff including the doctors. They do not listen to your issues and do not try to help by switching medications no matter how much you tell them they are not working. I find them rude, condescending and as I was explaining my symptoms, one of the psychiatrists said she didn't even know how to spell one of the words I used. I wish I could give this place negative stars. I was going here for a psych evaluation to get clearance for surgery. I had a phone evaluation and then was told I had to make another appointment and physically go in to fill out an MMIP (it's an evaluation test) and then an in-person appointment at the Fairview location and I live on the east side. No problem I'll do whatever I need to get my requirements done for my surgery. I take the MMIP in the waiting room while other patients are coming in. It was very distracting, but I finished the test. I sat and waited for 2 hours and was told that the doctor was running late and would arrive in 15/20 minutes. Still no problem... I was told a half an hour after that she had gotten a flat tire and would need to reschedule and it would be over the phone. I was annoyed but I get it, stuff happens. On the day of my phone appointment I am waiting and a half an hour goes by and still no call. Concerned I call and am told by reception that she is running late. No problem I get it... I'm a nurse and I know how busy doctors get. My appointment was at 4:30 pm it is now 7:30 pm I call back, the place is closed!!! No call... no nothing!! I have never been to such an unprofessional establishment. Do yourself a favor DON'T EVER GO HERE!!!! It was a waste of time a complete setback on my surgery because I now have to find another place to do the whole process over again. read more

PLEASE do not go to this clinic if you have anything serious going on. The psychiatry appts are scheduled 3-4 months out and sometimes they only write enough refills for 2 months. If you miss an appt. They schedule it out another 3 to 4 months out. When asked for an interim perscription they were adament that there was nothing they could or would do. When told that this could potentially put me in a dangerous situation, they said they would call the "squad" to take me to the hospital. DO NOT GO TO THIS CLINIC! read more

This is single handily the worst clinic I have ever been to in my life. Where do I even begin? David could not return my calls. He did once out of the four or five in which I actually needed him to call me. When I first met Stephanie, she made me wait one hour after my visit time because "she forgot I was there". She initially wrote me a paper prescription because for some reason this is the only clinic in the world who cannot call in a prescription. The second one she did call in when the first did not work. Then when that one also did not work out they refused to call in the third, telling me that they "would not call it in because it is a paper prescription". They are on the west side and I work on the east side. Since day 1 I told them I needed to be seen on the east side and not once did they try and set anything up to accommodate me. The kid I talked to about the third prescription was extremely rude to me. I asked if they could just transfer the script to the Beachwood office and he said "no, it's a paper prescription. And even if Beachwood was open today, we would not transfer it anyway." Oh boy, I needed FMLA paperwork for work. I made SIX calls in about 2.5 weeks. Six. Every time I asked them if David filled out the forms. The one time I did talk to him he said he would do it. Took him 2 weeks to do it. Then five additional calls over time to see if they could figure out if they actually faxed it or not. No one knew. Every time was "OK we'll fax it". I knew they could not handle it. I kept calling and leaving voicemails or I'd get someone who promised they'd do it, which I knew they wouldn't. I finally started telling them to have someone call me and confirm they did it. Not once did they call. Someone called me for an appointment reminder today and I laid into them. They are VERY quick to ask for money and are so unwilling to work with anyone. I owed them nothing and paid promptly upon every single visit, even on my first visit when they did not know what my copay would be (even though I did). You'd be better off not being medicated than going to these incapable idiots. They are so hard to work with. I was never late once, never no called/no showed, and they treated me like dirt. If you truly care about your mental health, look for another place, because these people do not respect anyone and should NOT be caring for any human beings. Oh, and the best part? You HAVE to see a counselor and a prescriber separately. Took me over TWO months to see Stephanie (the prescriber). Two months of not being medicated. They tried to act like they'd help me but the only time they had a cancellation was one week before my appointment and I had to work. Find another clinic, for your own peace of mind and safety. They just do not care and they won't listen to you and if they do, they simply cannot be taken for their word and should in no manner ever be trusted. Just don't do it to yourself, you deserve much better than these lowlifes. read more

I have been very unhappy with services at this agency. I took my son there for ADD testing and his counselor was unprepared at every visit. Once we showed up and she didn't even have the test on hand. He was tested for autism as well, over the course of many appointments. On a particular day I was called back to the office 10 minutes late, then this counselor took personal phone calls during the sessions and even dismissed me 15 minutes early to get her moms phone turned back on. I would bet she charged for the whole hour! The final meeting for results she did not even have the write up.I then opted to have the results sent to me even though she wanted to meet again to discuss results. The results came in the mail today and some of the information is incorrect. There's even a paragraph about a different child! Complete waste of my time! read more

This complaint is difficult for me, Mostly because I do not complain typically, I can view most things from all sides and I am quite upset in general so it is hard to put my feelings into words. I was a patient at Center for Effective Living (ran by Deborah Koirke) for quite some time. I believe I saw my therapist ( who is still my therapist) , around 2014 ish. I saw very little problem with how the facility was ran initially. Throughout the years, my insurance would drop and I would be uninformed by them or my insurance. So I would owe hundreds of dollars at a time and then get it paid off a bit only to run into more insurance changes or dropped which I again, was uninformed of until the balance got to be around 1000 dollars. My therapist eventually began to book client's at the new place she was practicing and so I was slowly trying to leave Center for Effective Living due to that AND frustration with my balance and the mis communication of the facility when it came to apppointments and reminders as a whole. I saw a prescriber there for medication, and she had me on some high doses of antidepressants while I had been seeing her, those appointments were also not covered through my new insurance I had received from my work and I was not notified of this fact either. I realized I needed to see a psychiatrist through my new insurance in my own network because I could not afford 60 dollar visits a month on top of the ridiculous bill I had already racked up with the facility as a whole. The issue is I had a gap between my new psych and my old psych. So, as a consequence I needed to get in with Melissa for a refill to hold me over. I was told by Deborah Koirke herself that if I wanted to get an appointment with my prescriber for a refill I had to pay my balance off. Which meant about two payments of 700 or so dollars. This, I find a bit absurd as I see them for PSYCHIATRIC HELP. Sure, as I struggle to get out of bed everyday and now am being told I will be without the highest dose of Effexor medication because i cant come up with up with two payments of 700 dollars before my appointment. Wonderful. She was rude and insensitive to my situation and I personally would expect more from a " President" of such a facility. I basically told them sorry I can not come up with that amount right now and asked to be on a payment plan so it did not go to collections. They agreed, took my card info and i thought everything was cool. I then, got 4 letters from collections about my balance at CFEL and when I called to ask why this was they told me they FORGOT TO GET MY CARD EXPIRATION DATE AND TRIED TO CALL ME BACK AND "LEFT MESSAGES" BUT UNFORTUNATELY GOT NO REPLY BACK FROM ME. That, was a bold faced lie, I had zero voicemails from them in regards to issues with my card. So, as per usual and as expected they of course turned it over to collections anyway. My mother still is a patient there ( her therapist from there that she really liked also left which comes as no surprise to me, as mine did the same thing- I even saw someone else there when my own therapist was booked and could not see me , she too is no longer there) and she also has a monstrous balance (which is odd because she never switched insurances like I did). My mother took a handful of pills two weeks ago and I needed to take off work in order to take her to the hospital and to her appointments after the fact as she does not drive. My employer suggested I apply for FMLA through her current psychiatrist and counselor to essentially back up the fact that my mom has been doing a poor job of taking care of herself. Well, as I expected and feared it has been 3 weeks and not one signed or returned document from the facility. I re-sent it and was told I would get them signed ASAP and today I received a call stating they could not complete the paper work because my case has been closed. The paper work is not for me or my case. It is for my mothers, which I specifically wrote on a letter attached to the documents I had sent over for a second time. I called to correct them and was given an attitude. I'm sorry, but I am a little stressed and doing most of my mother's handling of affairs alone. Deborah Koirke showed no empathy, the staff showed no empathy, they do not communicate, and it's ironic that a place for mental health is driving me INSANE AND I am not even a patient anymore. It seems money driven, which I am not naive enough to believe most things are not, however I feel it more at this facility than anywhere else myself or my mother have gone to help. I think Deborah Koirke is doing a less than desirable job as President of a place where people are supposed to go to get better. I am so upset. I hope action is placed so that new patients trying to get help do not get the same (lack) of treatment and attention. Thank you. read more

Everyone else at the Center is extremely caring except I saw a Mr. Miller (male) Saturday. I told him I did not want to be a lab rat experminting with medicine I don't know, would prefer to stay with what I know is working now. He talked down to me, at me, did not listen to me, my problem is stress diving after being hit by a drunk driver.
