It's a store that sells clothes for adults and kids. It's fast fashion and shall we say not the best quality for longevity (at least in my experience). I would say it's similar to Suzy Shier (which has been rebranded to just "Suzy"), Garage, and Dynamite. Not so much my jam now, but I loved L'Aubainerie when I was a broke student living in Montreal. I got tons of trendy clothes for really cheap. Sure they shrunk like crazy in the wash, but I was tiny (yes, even tinier than I am now, lol) so shrinkage was embraced, haha. And sure they faded in the wash and fell apart, but I was grungy-chic back then ;) The style of this company has changed a bit (they have less quirky stuff), and their prices seem to be a tad higher than I remember (even taking inflation into consideration), so maybe the quality has gone up too, I don't know. I haven't bought anything at AUB 44, as I haven't seen anything that appeals to me. However, I do enjoy poking around and being reminded of all the time I used to spend at the Aubainerie on Mont Royal Ave in Montreal :) This store is in Place d'Orleans and was actually the first store to open outside of Quebec! Time for a review update as my original review was in 2013 and many of the stores I mentioned are…read moreno longer there, and some don't even exist anymore :( Place d'Orleans is an enclosed shopping mall in the suburb of Orleans, about 20km east of Ottawa. It's not glamourous and doesn't have high-end stores, but is a decent mall. It has a drugstore (Rexall), a dollar store (Dollarama), and the usual retail stores and services you'd expect to find at a typical mall (clothes, shoes, cell phone providers, tailoring services, opticals, banks, etc.). They have a sizeable food court with mostly big chain vendors (think Thai Express, Tim Hortons, A&W, New York Fries, etc.) and a few independent businesses (Umi Eatery, Osteria Italia, and Shawarma Kitchen). In recent years, the mall did struggle but they are really making efforts to revitalize the mall and bring in more shoppers. In the summer of 2025 they had this great promotion where if you spent $25 at the food court and you took your receipt to customer service, you got a $10 mall gift card (there were a bunch of conditions, but I was still able to take advantage of the promotion several times). The mall also partners with different businesses to host pop-up markets. For the Black Friday weekend in 2025 the mall partnered with The Mom Market Collective and they had this fun pop-up market with foods and crafts where I got Nigerian food (from Mirabel's Yummies - it was my first time trying Moi Moi, a bean pudding with beef and I loved it. Their meat pie was great too. It was ground beef and had a subtle curry flavour) and fancy Turkish delight (from Z Baran Gourmet Collection, which was so delicious, not to mention very visually appealing). When I first moved to Ottawa I rarely went to this mall (as I considered it "out in the boonies" lol), but since my parents moved to Orleans, I'm out in this part of town more often and find myself at this mall more often. It's grown on me (or I'm more generous in my ratings in my old age, haha) so updating from 3 stars to 4 stars, for what it is, a functional suburban mall ;) There's lots of free parking. It has mostly fast fashion items which don't…read moreinterest me much, but once it a while you will find a rare gem, like a quality piece designed and made in Europe or something by an up and coming Canadian designer. Some items are even brand new with original tags still attached. These are the items I usually look for. Especially in the age of online purchases, if something doesn't fit, sometimes it's cheaper to consign the item than pay for shipping to return or exchange. I've been on both sides of this situation. I am also guilty of impulse (final sale) purchases that result in buyer's remorse and buying items with intentions to wear but then when I finally put them on again, they no longer fit (I'm sure it's the little demons in my closet that shrink my clothes at night and not because of the ice cream sundaes that I eat). But enough about my shopping and eating habits... So at Déjà New, most items are mid-range fast fashion, so like Jacob, Zara, Le Chateau, etc. There are no (authentic) luxury items there (more on that in the next paragraph). They say they don't take anything older than 3 years, but I've seen some dated frumpy stuff there. They don't curate their items all that well because I've seen fake Coach bags and fake Louis Vuitton bags there. However, I have also seen authentic Coach bags and authentic Michael Kors bags, which is about as high end as it gets there. You won't find any Gucci, Chanel or (real) LVs. The price tags have 3 prices with dates next to them. The price decreases with time, so after the last date, it is the cheapest price. They give the seller 40% of the selling price. You can check your account online. If your item doesn't sell after 75 days, it becomes their property and they can continue on sell it and keep 100% or they can donate it to charity. You can pick your item up before the 75 days if you want it back. They sell clothes, shoes, purses and jewelry. Only women's stuff, no men's or children's. The store is small and a bit crowded, but well organized by category and size. They have a small plus-sized section. They have petites which are mixed in with regular sizes, no separate section. The store does not smell musty. The staff are nice. It's in a strip mall with a small parking lot.

Anyone who knows me knows that I love Marshalls, Winners, TJ Maxx, Ross Dress for Less, and stores…read moreof that ilk (and let's not forget Loehmann's and Filene's Basement back when they had brick and mortar stores, while we're listing my favourite stores, lol). So I was super excited when I learned that Marshalls was opening a new store in Orleans. My parents and brother's family live in Orleans, and like a good daughter/sister/aunt, I visit them regularly. So what a great excuse to go shopping before or after my visits, haha! So all Marshalls look and feel very similar, but I'll tell you what stands out for me with this one. Their makeup section is one of the best. They have lots of higher end brands like Marc Jacobs (love their silky eyeshadows), Gucci, Dior, YSL, etc. compared to other locations. Also, since they are new, their cosmetics are less picked over (i.e. no broken blushes, lipsticks that have obviously been swatched/tried on, etc.). Their clothing section and shoe department is the same as others. Their food section I find has less variety. And they have less designer handbags. No jewelery department, as is the case with most Marshalls I've been to. The parking lot is not yet entirely paved, but it's fairly spacious. If you love shopping and live in or go to Orleans, why not duck in and have a look-see? :)

It's smaller sized Marshalls than what I am used to but had all your usual departments like mens, womans, babies/kids, housewares and beauty. Some departments were smaller than others, and did not have a lot of selection, so I did not feel too fulfilled on my shopping trip, or maybe I just went on an off day? The one thing that I did love about this location were their snacks. I love coming to Marshalls and stocking up on chips, candies and some vegan jerky. They had loads of snacks by the checkout, which is located in the middle of the store. Which brings me to that...the checkout. The whole checkout situation kinda threw me off. I found the location of it awkward, and it's not very roomy if you have a cart or stroller. There is a HUGE Winners/Homesense down the street, so I was expecting this store to really "bring it" in terms of wow-ness, but it was just A-OK.

She refused. I was shocked. (In thirty years, I had never had a problem obtaining this painkiller). I explained my need, but she simply -- and somewhat shirtily -- said it was in the pharmacist's discretion whether or not they carried it. She never offered an alternative such as Ibuprofen (which I didn't think of at the time). Being in a hurry, I left feeling angry and unsatisfied. Later in the day I tried the Walmart at Trainyards, where they couldn't have been nicer and more helpful. Total contrast. Bravo Trainyards. Straighten up an fly right, Gloucester City Centre!

This is a Winners (which for my American friends is like a TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Ross Dress for Less, etc.) that is attached to a Homesense (like the houseware version of Winners). This location doesn't carry a lot of cool brands and there is no "Runway Section." That being said, I have found a few pieces here, but mostly just athletic wear. Unless it's a return from another location, you likely won't find any fashion-forward items here. I love Winners in general, and I still go hoping to score that awesome find one day, lol. The space is big and it looks like other suburban Winners (as opposed to the "urban concept" Winners or the quirkiest Winners I've been to which is the one on Front St in Toronto which is in the space of several converted row homes). This is in a strip mall, so naturally lots of free parking.

The Winners is collocated with the HomeSense next door, and they share a checkout line. So sometimes the checkout line is crazy long. On the flip side, it is convenient if you need to do some shopping on both sides and only want to check out once. This is the only location we've got in Orleans. I guess the next closest one would be the one on St. Laurent. If you're selecting between this location and St. Laurent, I recommend picking this one.
