Finally open for the season, this little snack shack has got two sides to serve ice cream desserts and the other side for burgers and fries. Theres a washroom on one end of the small building and a screened patio on the other with lots of picnic benches around to enjoy your snack with friends. Located across a huge parking lot and playground for kids, this place gets a lot of activity through the season. I love that they are very generous on a one scoop ice cream cone and that they only have Kawartha dairy. This time I noticed a Birthday Cake flavour which must be a hit for the kiddos. It's cash only, but there's an ATM right by the cash on ice cream side. It's simple burgers and ice cream but they do it well. read more

I was craving some ice cream after dinner today, so of course, I look for ice cream and I found a delicious place! This placed served Kawartha ice cream and the prices were quite cheap. I got a kiddie scoop of the Salted Caramel Truffle in a cone and the amount was generous considering it costed only $3. It was really good! The truffle melted in my mouth. My friends got the waffle cone but they said it was hot which ended with their ice cream melting fast. Other than that, it was good! read more

Hubby and I ordered the fish and chips with an extra piece of fish. Some of the best fish and chips I have ever had! It was served fresh and hot. The batter was golden crispy and the fish was melt in your mouth flaky. It comes with a small side of delicious, fresh coleslaw and tartare sauce. We also got a spray of malt vinegar on the fries which were also hot, fresh and delicious. We found a table in the park overlooking the water - the perfect view to go with this delicious meal! read more

Always delicious. I have never had a bad meal or experience here yet. The service is always friendly and efficient and my meal is always served fresh and hot. I like the new set up with the building and like that the food truck is gone! The ice cream served on the other side of the building is delicious too. I would agree with other comments on here that the prices are a bit high....bought a poutine and a pop yesterday for $10.....but as I say, it's always terrific. The Chipper is now also going green. All items they use: napkins, straws, boxes, and even their utensils are all compostable. This is a cost and a choice that the owners have made, without raising their prices. They have added compost bins and recycle to the patio areas to uphold their new program. Here's hoping other local business follow! read more

The food has really gone down hill, fries used to be golden, crisp and great tasting. French fries are now heavy, hard and taste less, i think they are pre cooking a lot of fries to keep up with demand then drop them back in the old grease to warm them when an order comes in but they are already saturated with grease. Thought it could have been a bad day a week ago so we went back this week and again disappointed. We will likely not go back again and will tell my friends and family to go else where. A cute little place right at Sunset Point Park in Collingwood offering very friendly service and breathtaking views. This place was recommended to us by some locals on a weekend getaway from the city. Burger - Was pretty average sized which turned out to be alright. Came with a side of fresh cut fries which were very good. 3.5/5. Fish & Chips - Priced at $12.99 (I think, if not more), you get a small side of creamy coleslaw. The fish was nice but it was quite small. One thing about it though is that although it was a pretty small size, there was a lot of fish and not too much batter which is what usually makes the size deceiving. As good as it was, I think I'd be a little hesitant to pay that much for the portion size. Price and portion aside, I'd give it 4.5/5. Mushroom Caps - It's been forever since I've had anything this good. Took me back to my elementary school days when we used to "splurge" on the same dish at this greasy spoon in Scarborough called Papa's Place. I'd definitely order this again. 5/5. Fried Pickles - Probably the best fried pickles I've had. I was actually already stuffed by the time I took a bite from a wedge but forced myself to have 2 whole wedges because they were just that good. What made it good? The batter. The batter itself also had dill in it which is quite standard but their batter had more flavor than all the others I've had. 5/5. There are tons of other items on their menu plus you get great views of the lake. Definitely worth checking out when you're in Collingwood and are looking for a quick and cheap bite. read more

I came across this wonderful food truck the other day when my boyfriend and I decided to watch the sunset at Sunset Point Park. The location is fabulous, right in between the eco park across the street and Sunset Point Park. My boyfriend and I were feeling a bit hungry and decided to try out The Chipper. I ordered medium fries and my man got a regular burger, The kind lady at the truck advised us to wait and our order would be called shortly. I knew right away that this meant fresh food, yum! The service was quick and friendly, the fries, oh the fries, you HAVE to have the fries when you come. On the side of the truck it says "best fries in the Georgian bay..perhaps the universe" and I can vouch for that personally. they are hot, fresh and jam packed into their container. With minimum grease, these are easily some of the best french fries I have ever had. My boyfriend's burger was also delicious, I had one bite and I instantly noticed that there is a little extra something added to the beef patty that makes the burger different. I am still unsure of what it was but it was really tasty. The food truck itself is clean but only accepts cash, be prepared. I also enjoyed The Chipper because of their condiments, or rather the presentation of the condiments. The salt was in a shaker but the vinegar was in a spray bottle, which is such a great idea for those of us who like a little bit of vinegar all over our fries. The Chipper is a great place to grab a quick snack or even a meal as they offer combos of burgers and fries, poutine and even healthier options such as grilled chicken. We are on vacation and visited the beach here. We had some food at the Chipper seeing that they have won so many awards. We weren't disappointed! This place has fantastic food and even better service!! I say all the awards were well earned. read more

First time as a tourist with family and decided to dine at The Chipper because of the reviews in their local paper from our hotel and it was on the beach. Our food was extremely greasy especially the fries which they were so famous for. I know they are busy as no other snack shack on the beach but not only that the prices were way too expensive (we should have eaten on the strip) The burger was overcooked and grease soaked bun. The ketchup bottle was left out in the sun all day and was gross so I asked for a cold one, no name ketchup.The patio was super hot and hardily any shade and the table and chairs were small, very uncomfortable, unstable and breakable. We will not return, go eat in town where it is cheaper, fresher to dine. I think they got a good review from "Georgian Life" as it is their local paper and keeps business on the beach. read more

We went to their food truck by the Collingwood Terminals for a couple hotdogs They were just like the location, terminal. Both lukewarm (almost cold) on untoasted cold buns. The cook seemed to not give a crap about what he was doing. read more

Chipper is nothing fancy just a place to grab some french fries or hot dog. No complaints expecting a 5 star restaurant. They also own the ice cream place on the water! When we walked the dogs some evening we will grab a ice cream at the chippers ice cream place. Always friendly to talk to and the owners are very hard working people. Remember when they only had the food truck. So they must be doing something right! read more
