I've NEVER in 40 years gave a company a bad review but in this instance it's not only necessary…read moreit's absolutely imperative nobody else experiences what our family did last night. We regularly order things online or over the phone for delivery every second Thursday night. Since 'Sea Captain' was listed as 'new' to delivering in our area we decided to try it. It was the ABSOLUTE WORST takeaway / delivered food we have all ever had. Potatoe cakes so much batter you could hardly see any potatoe. It was so dry, overcooked and drowned in salt, the chips were the same. I ordered a 'lamb plate'. Online it said I get small lamb gyros, pita bread, chips, salad and tzatziki sauce(this is on EAT NOW). If I wanted a spicy lamb curry then it would make sense but it's a lamb gyros! I didn't get any salad and no pita bread. The lamb gyros were very spicy, in cubes, with a spicy paste all over it. If they think that's what a lamb gyro is they need to eat one elsewhere. It was so spicy I couldn't eat it, couldn't eat the chips or potatoe cake and the Tzatziki sauce was just a thin liquid. I couldn't even tell if it had anything in it. It was a light white colour that dripped, I was starving so decided to still give it a go and I was beyond shocked. It was so bad, everything we ordered was a complete waste of money, time and we were all so left very hungry. As someone who is disabled, unable to drive, it's not like I could've quickly got in the car and went to a local takeout place which we have loads around here. It didn't help our order had taken over 90mins to arrive. My parents steak sandwiches were just as bad and the worst they've ever had. The only reason we chose them was because the usual place we get steak sandwiches from 'Montana' is closed until further notice. Sea Captain offered this so we thought why not worst case scenario it might be smaller and tougher than Montanas but little did we know how bad it was. In the end my dinner was a minute portion of the meal I ordered because it was so bad and I was worried about food poisoning especially with the tzatziki sauce. My parents on the other hand forced themselves to eat much more than me because when you're having dinner just after 830pm, waiting for AGES, there was nothing else for them to eat. I ate the last banana which was 10 times better than the dinner and thank goodness I had one because it was the only thing to get this disgusting taste out of my mouth. My parents however became quite unwell with the food. We do not want any discounts from 'Sea Captain' because we will NEVER order from there again and we highly advise everyone to get your food elsewhere. There's a reason their menu looks like they offer absolutely everything, there wasn't one single thing that we ordered that was even just a pass. The 'Sea Captain' needs to abandon ship or eat from other take away food places so they know how food should be cooked. We were all in utter shock and completely floored to the extent of how bad our order was. It's disgraceful, might seem 'cheap' but avoid like the plague because having lived here for decades and pretty much have eaten from everything in this area including Bayswater and Wantirna. This is THE WORST food we've EVER had in our entire lives and that says something. Ration packs mre- rehydrated food in the army back in the 70's and early 80's overseas was so much better than what we ate last night and that says something. Eat elsewhere, if a fish and chip place can't even make chips or potatoe cakes let alone the rest, then there's something seriously wrong. I'm writing this in hopes someone else and their family can avoid the beyond awful experience we had with them from the time they answered their phone. If I could give them 0 or a negative score I would.

Stopping here on a cool spring day and we were warmly greeted, explained how to order and given our choice seating by the window. The standout dish was the haloumi and zucchini fritters, very filling and flavourful with yoghurt and a side salad. The least favoured was the chicken and mushroom pie, just average in taste. Other dishes were on the better side and service was top notch. There is a decent drink menu featuring milkshakes, smoothies and spiders along with the usual coffee and soft drinks. With ample space for families and outdoor seating, I can see why it was consistently busy and would easily venture back the next time I'm in the area.

The inside is cosy and has plenty of seating. The inside area can get a bit noisy with all the wood, but you can still have a quite conversation and enjoy your own space. The staff are friendly and helpful and very accommodating. There certainly was a mixture of ages and the cafe is open to small children. We enjoyed our meals and would certainly go back again.

Apart from good coffee, the menu goes from a full range of breakfast items to Omelettes, Pasta, Grills and seafood. Not bad for a small café. Add to this a tasty range of appetisers like Nachos and chips, and Koko Lime does a great job of covering all bases, whilst manages to cook everything fresh on site by the cheery staff. The fresh muffins are huge and great, and the pizza, quiches and foccacias are really tasty for a quick lunch. During the week, Koko Lime have a happy hour from 12-2pm, where all pastas are reduced by 2-%, making them about $7 per serve. A nice change from a meat pie from the lunch van.

Coffee is good, and tea is always served in a small pot with tea strainer and individual jug of milk. Their toasted sandwiches are top rate, and omelettes as well as lambs fry and bacon served with chips and salad is a huge meal. Koko Lime's Eggs Benedict are so good that I've persuaded friends to travel from the other side of the city just to experience them. The staff are well trained, pleasant and with a ready smile. Natasha runs a tight ship, and her vast experience shows. Recommended.
