Do you want to enter the backrooms of Christmas stores? Come here then. From the outside, you think that you are in for just a small shop where you'll run in, grab an ornament, and be on your way for your beach vacay. Well buckle up, because you have no idea what you are in store for. I usually hit up the other Christmas shop in the area, but decided to give this one a try. We pulled in and should have opted for more time scheduled beforehand. Walking in I expected to have Christmas everywhere. I was not disappointed on this end. Christmas was everywhere, displayed in every single way possible. Sections set up by pop-culture icons. Those sections are well manicured and detailed. Then you start to roam, the sections start to mesh into one another. That is when you realize you have gone so far into the store that you don't remember where the front door is. But you don't really care as you start to discover that this place has so much more to offer than just Christmas. Some of it is evident as you notice that they have a snack shop, souvenirs, and wine tasting posted outside before you enter. But what you don't expect is that there are other holidays to explore here. Including the Halloween section that is, appropriately, downstairs. More maze like than you think could be possible here. Then you come into snack area. Everything in here is tempting. Especially the fudge. There area free samples to be had here, which is good, because I was interested but had no idea if I would like any of it. Very friendly staff here. Once you make your way back through the rooms and exit the front door you can explore more. Outside is a sitting section and there is restroom access. read more

Must stop by or make a special trip here. Don't confuse this spot with the Christmas Mouse in Kitty Hawk. This is a totally different place and their prices are quite nice! We got NFL Football Santa hats for the Christmas less than they are sold online. They also have a cool Halloween section. This place is full of goodies! They have so much to see and explore. Rooms filled with Christmas decor; figurines, garlands, wreaths, lights, and ornaments. So many ornaments! They have everything from coastal themed, professions, Disney, hobbies, significant life events, etc. You can get personalized ornaments and stockings. They also have rooms with items that are not Christmas themed. You can find merchandise for pet parents, beautiful jewelry, personal care, home decor, and outdoor decor (garden flags, wind chimes). And lastly, food and beverage. They have so many snacks of the salty and sweet varieties. If you are a fan of wine, they not only sell it, but provide tastings. This Labyrinth of a Christmas store has sections divided up by themes, films, nostalgia, foods... you name it. And if you fancy it, there's even a wine tasting section in the back with chocolates, treats, and all sorts of souvenirs. They are pet friendly and they even give your little fur baby a snicky snack. They do have sections related to current holidays - which right now is a rather scary Halloween section down a dark ramp and into a basement-like area. read more

The Christmas Shop is hands down the greatest shop I have ever been to minus the fact that everything is unbelievably expensive. Honestly I just enjoyed how big it was it was like a museum and there is a huge Halloween section you would never expect to be so legitimate. It's like a haunted house, you have to see it to believe it, trust me. This place has a little bit of everything for everyone. Christmas, fall decor, Halloween, beach decor, snacks and food, and even wine tastings 4x a week. That's how we found the place; we saw the sign outside and decided to check it out. So happy we did. Really massive shop in the OBX. Tons of Christmas / holiday items that fill up room after room after room. There's also non-holiday stuff, including a General Store section that has lots of snacks / food items / etc. There were free samples available in this section on the day that I visited -- coffee and a few little snacks set up throughout. I didn't actually end up purchasing anything on my visit. While there was a lot of stuff to choose from, it was pricey, even for an independent / small business where you'd expect things to cost a bit more. I also felt....maybe a little uncomfortable at times on my visit in regards to some of the staff members. There were some folks working who were friendly and kind, but for the most part I felt like I was being "monitored" while I wandered around looking at everything. The price tag and the "being watched" rather than welcomed aspect ultimately lead to me leaving empty handed. read more

Great Christmas Shop that is much much bigger than you'd think from the outside. They also have beach gear and decor as well a pretty extensive Halloween decor! It's not just Christmas stuff here. If it's too searing hot to go to the beach, as it was today, come spend an hour or more here, as we did. There's even a room in the far corner with 60% off merchandise (lots of items). Let me tell you this place is one of my favorite stops when visiting the OBX. A HUGE Christmas shop or should I say maze because you could get lost in here. I love everything, from all of the different Christmas themes, to the regular home decor, to the snack and treats in the general store it's all so comforting. They even have a Halloween section and it's super fun and creepy. The cashiers were super friendly and attentive when they checked us out. The pricing is varied throughout the store, lots of retro things and hard to find items can be a little pricey but overall decently priced in my opinion. This place is a must see! read more

Christmas is one of our favorite holidays... Initially we were heading back to where family was staying for our trip to OBX. After lunch in the area got caught in a pretty good summer rain storm. This place is quite large. It's misleading from the outside. There are many rooms and lots of nooks & crannies to find all you Christmas decorations. Also of some note, connected to this place is a general store that also sells wine. If you're into the holidays this place is for you. read more

I really don't know where to begin with how amazing this store actually is! You really need to check it out! There is something for everyone! The rooms are never ending and themed. They don't only sell Christmas stuff, there are so many other things as well as Halloween decor! I could spend hours in this olace( and did spend an hour)! The only downfall, the bathroom! This was a huge shop and had anything and everything Christmas and house decor. They even have a decent selection of jewelry. The reason for the star off was because no one who worked here really spoke or smiled, staff could have a more friendly appearance, especially for a Christmas shop... but what was even better of a discovery was the huge Halloween section in the back what looks like almost a basement looking section? Every time I stay in OBX I have to make the short drive to Manteo just for this store. Christmas is one of my favorite holidays so I don't care what time of year it is but I love getting ornaments. I usually get a beachy themed one since I only go here when I'm on my beach vacation. But this place has ornaments for every theme. Like legit any theme you can think of, they have an ornament for it. They have a section in the store where they sell handmade soaps, jewelry, home decor, etc. This threw me off a little the first time because it just didn't seem to go with the Christmas theme. I guess maybe they have that in case you want to pick up some Christmas gifts but who knows. They also have a whole section dedicated to Halloween which is interesting (in a good way). Towards the back of the store they have a room just for candy and other sweets. This all might seem pretty random but trust me, it's a pretty cool store to visit. read more

Stopped at this shop with friends after a day of exploring in Manteo NC. I love Christmas shops but as I worked my way around this I realized this place was unlike any others I have been to. There are rooms upon rooms of every kind of ornament you can think of, & they are all categorized so you can look at what you want & bypass the rest. What started out a quick stop to look at ornaments ended up a half hour plus trip. They are a bit pricey but there are so many unique ornaments you would not find elsewhere. Although it's a long ways before Christmas, I got 3 beautiful ornaments that I just love. Maybe I can have a summer Christmas tree:) read more

One of my favorite places to visit in the Outer Banks. It's the best Christmas Shop you'll ever visit. Not just a store...it's an experience. They go all out with the Halloween area. Great place to pick up an OBX souvenir and a couple of ornaments. If nothing else, it's just a fun environment to be in and get some ideas for the holidays. Our kids, and myself, enjoy the General Store in the back. They have a lot of great candies they make in the store (fudge, salted-caramel chocolate bites, etc...) as well as some old school candies that take you back in time. Bottom Line: An OBX institution featuring cheesy Christmas decor but lots of other good stuff. If you've never been to the Christmas Store before, here is a high level overview: - It's huge! Prepare to spend at least an hour there if you're "just looking." - There is waaaaayyyy more here than Christmas stuff - candles, jewelry, art, cards, home décor, candy and souvenirs await you. - Once you've gathered up all of your treasures, bring everything to the front to checkout. About the experience, and an experience it is . . . I love going to the Christmas shop for to buy artwork, cruise the general store and be entertained by the crazy Christmas decorations. Frankly, I find most Christmas stuff these days to be tacky. Everything is made in China and exactly the same as what you can buy anywhere else. Handmade, locally made, or even "Made in the USA" ornament s are hard to find anymore and it's unlikely you'll find any gems like that here. Nevertheless, I like cruising through the Christmas rooms of this colossal store to look at all of the themed trees. Although they're not for me, I do find them to have a certain entertainment factor. Once I'm done putzing around the Christmas rooms, and perhaps even the Halloween room, then I get serious and head for the Gallery portion of the store. The Gallery features lovely local artwork - jewelry, photos, watercolors and lovely pieces in other mediums. This is a great spot to shop if you want to take a piece of the Outer Banks home with you. From the Gallery, I move on to the General Store. The General Store is a mix of silly toys, home décor, antiques and candy. It's just a really fun spot! 4.5 out of 5 stars This is one of the best Christmas Shops I've ever been to (and yes, I've been to a lot because my mother is slightly obsessed). The layout is slightly confusing and I could see getting lost in it, but there might have been a map. Each section is neat and organized with a certain theme--angels;butterflies;birds;flowers;fish;stained glass. They also do a great job of having trees decorated in artsy ways with themed colors, ornaments, and ribbon. The only thing I could find lacking was some international-related ornaments. I picked up a super cute glass turtle ornament and a bristly fox ornament, which was a big hit back home. I think the fox might stay out all year, not just on the tree at Christmas time. Also, some of the ornaments were sold out or they only had one of each, which was an issue when lookng to buy ornaments as gifts for those back home. The service was nice and they carefully wrapped up all of our ornaments. I really do think the people that work here know every ornament they carry. But now to the real reason we came here: Outer Banks Fudge. Outer Banks Fudge recently closed their storefront and sells through the Christmas Shop's General Store. Do not just go to the Christmas Shop for Christmas things, go here for the General Store! If you travel through the shop to the back, you'll pass some antique-y looking rooms and then you'll get to a huge back-in-the-day themed general store. Think the front of Cracker Barrel, but less kitsch and better stuff. Here, I stocked up on 5 types of fresh fudge, Carolina fruit preserves, and some Carolina Coffee (later to be lost en route to the office *sniff*). The prices were a tad high for the area, but well worth it. My sister went to the penny candy wall and filled up a bag for her friend ('twas not a "penny" at the register). The lady behind the counter was a bit cold and seemed disinterested in having to cut fresh fudge, so sold us on the pre-packaged slices. No worries! The loot we made off with was well worth it. If you're going to Roanoke Island for the Aquarium, Lost Colony, or anything else, stop here on your way out of town! read more

To me no visit to the Outer Banks is complete without a stop at the Christmas Shop. I am instantly drawn to memories of this place and can feel the chilly air hitting my body when I pull open that first doorway of entry. It's way more than tinsel & ornaments - there's a Halloween shop, jewelery, tons of local art, antiques, local snacks, etc. I can't give it five stars as its not what it use to be. The guys that run it retired a few years ago only to pull a Brett Farve and return a couple seasons later. Unfortunately that time took a bit away, there's just not the hustle & bustle at the store there use to be. The shops adjoining it (along with Weeping Radish Brewery) are long gone as well. That said, make this a priority on your trip as its an Outer Banks tradition that needs to continue. Stop by on your way to the Lost Colony or your visit to Roanoke Island historical sites. read more

I make sure to visit here at least once every year when we visit the Outer Banks. I love this store, but I think it's gone a bit downhill after the new owners took over. A lot of the features I loved are now gone like the art gallery, the 2nd floor Halloween displays, the old photos and antiques that were throughout the whole building, and the old fashioned general store. Now it seems a lot more commercialized and overpriced. I still love the store, but I wish they'd bring back some of the old owner's vision and ideas. read more

I regret to say in isn't the same anymore. At first glance I thought I would return to a unique special shop I've visited for.many years. Even though it has its usual ornaments it has become just another place that sells the same generic stuff. They got rid of the Island Art Gallery which was amazing and i would spend $500 alone in paintings. It's been replaced with a cheap general store that has stuff you can find anywhere. It's no longer a "one-in-a-million". It's become another shop that every town and city has. It's lost its touch. I hate to say it, but I will probably not return. read more

This is a fun shop with lots of different Christmas ornaments. There is also a general store but it has more knick knacks than practical items that you'd find at a typical general store. There's also a Halloween shop but it's not cute. It's actually pretty gory and scary--I would pass it if you don't like that stuff. read more

I have been wanting to go here for quite a while but they have always been closed. This vacation they were finally open and while it was nice, there was not to much special about it. The building is very sweet on the outside, but inside it is a big maze. The trees were set up quite nicely, but this store does not let you take things off the trees like Christmas Mouse so I spent time trying to hunt things down. Some of the trees were beautiful while a lot were plain and boring. There was not as much from local artists nor for the beach theme. Honestly Christmas Mouse has a way better selection of beach themed Christmas items. I would go again, but the prices and selection are better at Christmas Mouse so I would probably go there first. read more
