I have had the most wonderful experience worshiping with the Church At Vallejo congregation! The Bible is taught and preach just like it is written. The word of the day is "Jesus". I came to this church when I was 8 years old by way of my parents. We lived in Southern California, and my dad came to Vallejo to attend a funeral, and during his visit he came to this church with his parents. When my dad came back home, he knew he had to come back to the church because of the spirit and love that he felt, and shortly after we moved to Northern California. I didn't understand it at the time, why we would move so quickly because of a church, but as I grew up I began to learn for myself just how special this place is. Fast forward to age 32, I'm still attending this church, and I'm so thankful that Jesus led me this way and that I had the opportunity to serve him in my youth and now as an adult. Jesus has had great mercy on my life, and allowed me to build a personal relationship with him. The people, the environment, the ministry preaching the Word of God, and the Holy Ghost has changed my life and I owe everything to Jesus. This place is so POWERFUL. I started coming to this church in 2008 because I was sooo miserable with my life and needed a change. I found it here. I was able to quit substances and smoking, a habit I tried to quit for over 10 years. 4 years after I started coming here, I dealt with Post Traumatic Stress from a crime that I was a victim of 15 years prior. I was surrounded by so much love in the process and Jesus healed me one year later from the fear, anxiety and depression that the assault did to me. But that's not all . . . I've been to thousands of services in this place but last Sunday's service was something to behold and one that I've never experienced in my whole 40 years of life. For one hour and 7 mins, the Spirit of God overwhelmed the sanctuary of people with a love so deep we will NEVER forget. It felt like a Day of Pentecost, Glory over Tabernacle type of moment. The depth of love in the sanctuary on Sunday was like no other. Everyone was crying on each other, hugging, repenting, forgiving, encouraging, praying together and expressing our appreciation for one another. I've never had so many people tell me "I love you" and feel deeeep in your soul that they ACTUALLY meant it. The words whispered in my ears that day will be imprinted on my heart forever. I went to church all my life, went to religious schools growing up and had so many questions about the things I was taught and about life. I remember would pray to God about my questions because I just didn't understand why things happen the way they did. But it wasn't until later in my life, I was at a low point to where I didn't know what I was doing in my life. I was hurt, lost, and tired of the life I was living. I knew a friend who attended this church and that was when she invited me to come. The experience I had when I came was something I never experienced before. I felt something instantly, something I never felt before when I was attending church growing up. It caused me to want to keep coming and learn about the Word of God and have a deeper relationship with the Lord. The Word of God being taught here just made so much sense. What I appreciate about this church is we're taught have a personal relationship with the Lord and to read the Bible so we can get an understanding of the Word of God for ourselves and implement it in our daily lives. All my questions I had prayed about growing up, slowly kept being answered and revealed to me as I kept coming. All the hurt I was feeling, slowly lifted off me as I felt so much comfort. I normally dont write reviews let alone for a church, but if it helps one soul then it's worth it. I had been searching for the truth. I grew up in church and desired to learn more about the Lord. I had gone to many churches around the United States and even outside the United States. I was searching online, watching different preachers, but it never felt like it was a solid foundation nor was I truly changing. I would talk to someone and they were able to poke holes in what I thought was truth. I began to become frustrated with religion as I felt there was many hypocrisies and the questions I had, it just didn't make sense. I then met someone who attended church here and I could tell they were well learned and being taught the scriptures ...and I wanted that. I wanted truth even if it meant I was wrong. I had my walls up, but slowly I began to attend the services and things just started making sense. It was like the scriptures began to come alive to me and I believe I finally found the truth. Slowly but surely, I saw true change in my life and I'm grateful the Lord confirmed it through his word. Not to mention the example I saw and what you feel from the people is something you just have to see and experience for yourself. I can truly say I've found what my soul was searching for. When I first walked in this church, everyone made me feel comfortable and welcomed. I came with my heartaches, looking for peace and needed a true friend. I said this prayer within me - "Dear father here's my life. I don't have anything to offer but broken heart. Then I heard this song - "If you tried everything and everything has failed, try Jesus. He will be your dearest friend, he will go with until the end..." This song saved my life. Jesus became my best friend and he has delivered me so many times. I never looked back. The truth of the word of God is taught here and promoted to have good moral values. I learned to be a good mother, a good employee and a good citizen here. Coming here at the young age of 5 and growing up in this environment over the years has not only helped me spiritually but also naturally. I wasn't old enough to know I needed a change at a young age but my mother was the one that was looking for a church to attend. A church that was following the King James version of the Bible and that was Holy Ghost led. Here is where she found both of those things plus more! Through her deciding to coming and stay, I was given a chance to benefit from that decision. Receiving the Holy Ghost at the age of 8, I can see how Jesus has covered me in every area of my life until this day. I grew up in a spiritual household (I'm very thankful for that) with a grandmother that introduced me to the name, Jehovah. At a very young age. I was about 5 years old and I can remember being very serious about learning more about him. I had no idea that there was so much to learn about Jehovah and that his sons name was Jesus. As my life continued, like many people, I visited many places of worship but one day I met a very nice lady who invited me to the Church of the Latter Rain , my life has never been the same! I started attending services when my daughters were very young. On one particular day I decided that we weren't going to attend service (I used to commute to work so on this day I was going to rest). One of my daughters asked me, "Mommy are we going to church today?" I said, "No not today!" She just looked at me. A few minutes later she and my youngest daughter were sitting on the couch waiting patiently (maybe I would change my mind). As I walked by them, I noticed that they were dressed for service. I thought to myself, what parent wouldn't take their child to church when they asked to go? I decided to go to service and this was the day my life changed forever! I received the baptism of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues as the spirit of God gave the utterance (Acts 2:4). I found him whom my soul loveth! I started reading the KJV of The Bible for the 1st time in my life. I learned that men are called by God (a true Man of God has a testimony of how Jesus called him). I learned about the Hand of God (Ephesians 4:11) I've learned about the Fall and Rise of the church. I've learned about the Four Major Doctrines. I learned about how to obtain Eternal Life and so much more. Everything that I've learned here and am still learning every single day, has been proven by the scriptures! It's a wonderful feeling when you know that you found what you've been looking for. There's no more searching no more looking around, you've found something worth living for. I found Jesus and there's no doubt about it, he's everything I wanted and more. It's a wonderful feeling when you know that you've found what you've been looking for. If you're looking for a place that you can learn about the Word of God, ask biblical questions, and a people that are just as serious as you about wanting to live a life for Jesus, then I'd like to invite you to come worship the Lord in spirit and in truth. I really love this church for the change and the positive impact that it has had on my life. My relationship with the Lord has grown so much. Before coming to the church at Vallejo, I was praying and asking the Lord to lead me to a place where i could learn the truth and grow in Him. Before coming to the church I was going from church to church, and I felt like I knew the Lord in the third person, and just never felt at home in the other places I would visit. When I started coming to the church at Vallejo, this is where I met the Lord and learned how to have a personal relationship with Jesus. Just so wonderful! I really feel at home here. We live in a day and age where people go by "how" they feel and "what" they feel and here you can really feel the love of Christ through the people and the preaching, teaching, and this spiritual environment , really establishes and stabilizes you and helps you to make well rounded spiritual decisions. It's really a great place. If you are hungering and thirsting for more of the Lord and want to feel His presence and and grow spiritually, then this is the right place for you. I love going to church here. The people are very caring and welcoming. You can always feel the Spirit of God and hear a great message about Jesus Christ and the doctrines He taught. I was invited by someone I met at work. I had been praying and asking God where I could go to church to learn about the doctrines I read in Hebrews Chapter 6 vs 1 & 2 and I have learned so much about the bible and gotten much closer to the Lord since attending the bible studies. I am so thankful for this church, I can truly say this environment has saved my life. Often times we are all looking for something to fill a void in our lives, certain circumstances enter our lives that make us consider the Lord or someone greater than us that can help change us our lives or our situations/circumstances. It seems that just when we reach that point that is when the Lord leads us to a place where we can receive what we need from him. I am an individual who grew up in a single-parent household, did not have a father in the home. I am thankful for the saints and ministry that has been faithful in my life since I was a child. I needed guidance in my life especially as I began to enter my adolescence. I remember beginning to encounter challenges in life and I am thankful for this environment because it truly saved my life. I grew up always hearing about Jesus, singing songs, reading my bible, but something had to get into my heart and I am so glad that through the years something did fall into my heart. I remember just as any teenager at the time I was faced with challenges, growing pains, mistakes, and I knew I wanted to change. We live in a world full of distractions and you can do and be anything you want, but I know that's not what the Lord was pleased with, I knew I needed a change in my life, I needed my mind and heart to change. I remember that once I reached the age of accountability I prayed and asked the Lord to touch my mind, I knew that I had received the Holy Ghost at the age of 5 years old, so I had the power to change but I needed the Lord to help me and keep me. It was then I learned that I needed to develop a personal relationship with Jesus. I am thankful for this environment because once I really prayed to the Lord, I asked him for a personal relationship, he met me. I kept hearing the testimonies and ministering my entire life about having a personal relationship with the Lord and I realized I grew up here but I didn't quite have that relationship, but I am thankful the Lord had mercy on me, he saved my life and kept me through the years until I could truly form that relationship with him. From that day forward I felt my relationship with him grow and he's been so real to me ever since. I have gone through elementary, middle school, high school, college, now in my career and adulthood and God has kept me. I love the truth that I am learning, I love the friendships and bonds I have formed with the saints here, I am thankful for the ministers that are here and their genuine care for the people, I am thankful. I mention all this to say, it was here at this Church I learned about the Lord, it was promoted to read the word of God for myself and get an understanding of the word of God. I learned what it meant to live a clean lifestyle, how to be a good employee, how to be a good friend, brother, son. I am thankful for the values this church has promoted not only for me to be a good citizen and employee, but to spiritually grow in God. That is why I continue to come here, I have grown, my life has changed, and I am continuing to change. Everything I prayed for, the Lord has answered since I have been here. I often love a song we sing, "If you've tried everything, and everything has failed, try Jesus" and I am so thankful that I tried Jesus. I'm used to writing reviews about food and restaurants. That's sort of the "sweet spot" for me. So, writing a review of my church is a little different, but I feel like it might be helpful for anyone considering whether or not to come and see for themselves. I attend the Church of the Latter Rain at Vallejo, and I've been a part of the church ever since I can remember. I practically grew up underneath the pews, sleeping, coloring, and doing what kids do. Coming with, at first my Granna, and then eventually with my mom, and when I got old enough, on my own. Over the years, I've learned about the Lord, and how important it is to have a personal relationship with Him that's based on the scriptures. The love that's felt, the doctrine that's taught, and the ministry here are all based on the scriptures. The ministry makes it a point always to teach people that they need to read the Bible for themselves so that if the ministry goes wrong, the people will know. And it's reading and building a personal relationship with the Lord that's kept me coming over the years. Whether it was when my parents divorced and I found my world sort of tumbling, or when I had to move schools all of those times, the Lord was always there. I could go into how I was a troubled kid, growing up in different environments and exposed to things that deeply impacted me, but had it not been for this place and the teachings; I don't know what my life would have looked like today. Or if I would even be around to tell you about it. I would show up to a church service with a heavy heart or a lot on my mind, and the songs would begin to give me peace. As a young man, I would be dealing with pressure in school or at home, and someone would get up and testify about how the Lord had delivered them - and through that, I would get strength. Or I would come to service and be taught about the scriptures and what it took to get to Heaven and see that I had some things to work on in me if I wanted to make Heaven my home. When I needed help navigating how to be a man in a single-parent household, there were examples of good men who treated their wives right, took care of their families, and were genuinely trying to live up to the scriptures. They didn't try to force their way into my life, but they met me where I was and made themselves available. Some young people (who were older than me) were, through all of their faults, shortcomings, and problems, were trying to be Christians. And that's not easy. We live in a world where anything goes, so to have help from others who weren't perfect but were giving an honest effort made all the difference in the world in my life. And there were some people I grew up with who didn't want the life I wanted, and that was fine too. Because it taught me that this was a personal walk and a personal choice, and it made what I was doing that much more special to me. As I said, I had met the Lord here and over the years; through experiences, making mistakes, shortcomings, and triumphs, He became more and more real to me. read more

Not a very welcoming group to say the least. We did not come for worship. We came to have a safe place for a sale exxhange for bedding, etc.... I being a Christian, attending the Seventh Day Adventist Church in El Sobrante, and the lady I was meeting is from The Church of Christ of Latter Day Saints. I live in Pinole and was buying from a lady from Rocklin. She had just moved from Vallejo area and was coming back to meet with me and do some other personal business in Benicia. My meeting lady was told that "they had to shut the church gate." So, she explained her purpose of waiting in their parking lot. She was pulling out of the lot when I came. She told me that she was told that they had to shut the gate and that we had to leave. So, I told her we can park safely outside their gate. We were then approached by a truck full of older men from the church. They said that the women inside were scared of us. So they called their men to tell us to leave. The men proceeded to tell us that the homeless are not safe in the area. That to not show it, and put it away. I told him that we were "sisters in Christ, too. And to tell "the sisters, we are safe." read more

I was really in need of salvation when I sought out looking for something better than life was giving me. I can truly say when I walked through the doors at 5 Spruce St in Vallejo CA I was comforted immediately. My life was a mess before I found what I was looking and yearning for. My family, friends, children, husband could not fill the void that I had in my life. The true interpretation of the word of God is being preached here, salvation can be reached here, I am being changed right here and I'm very thankful that I kept looking for what I have been needing for so long. It's a wonderful feeling when you know that you've found what you've been looking for! I remember coming to General Assembly Church as a teenager almost 25 years ago. Like any average teenager in this world, I had issues and problems that I just couldn't fix on my own. I remember walking through the doors of the church wondering, "why are these people so nice, and what do they want from me?" I quickly came to realize that they didn't want anything from me because I didn't have anything to offer. They just cared about a soul that needed to know Jesus. Through reading the Word of God and attending this Wonderful Church, my relationship with the Lord has grown deeper. I can honestly say that the past 25 years of my life have been AMAZING! I love the Lord now more than ever because I have come to a place that teaches me who Jesus really is. All I can say is, "Come and See..." read more

I usually don't take the time to write a review unless I am VERY disappointed or exceedingly pleased. To come across General Assembly Church on Yelp was not only a shocker, but almost an injustice. How could someone rate a place as this? As I began to ponder that thought I began to think of what I would like to hear if I was looking for a church home. Not too long ago I was that person. Spending eight years in the military I searched the highs and lows of this world for a church home, but none met what I was looking for and now have found. I had tried everything, but none met the scripture that I held dear to my heart; Isaiah 56:7 Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people. I had been to so many places where there was no order and people were not accepted because of race, social status, and other things that had nothing to do with salvation. As well, I had seen, as a child, so much unrighteousness and evil done to people that thought they were serving the Lord. I knew that was not of God. When I was led to General Assembly Church I was really down and out, had been through everything you could imagine as a child, going through my own divorce, mother of a two year old at the time, and requesting a military hardship discharge. Not only had I already mastered my accomplishments in life and had followed all the rules life had taught me, there was a void in my life. Something was missing. Have you felt like something was missing? I found out what was missing; Jesus. This church has changed me. No the word of God, spoken through ordained men of God, has changed me and is continuously changing me. I have found the Body of Jesus Christ and I will never be the same. I have something to live for and now I know love unfeigned. While I am writing this review I am thinking that if the person reading this review is searching for His truth and would like to be a part of it, this is it and once you have found the truth you can't turn back..;-) read more

I love this church!! It is wonderful to learn about the truth and how to make sense of this life. From the moment I came here I felt like I was home and did not have to search for any more churches. I was searching for somewhere to attend church but I did not want to go just anywhere, it had to be someplace where I was sure Jesus was. Someone told me about this church over 15 years ago and I could not wait to come and visit. After one service I could not wait to come back. The songs the band sings and the testimonies truly touch your heart! The people are wonderful and the ministry truly cares for your soul. I have learned so many things about the bible over the years that have helped me to overcome the trials and tests that life brings. Sometimes you just can't do things on your own, it takes the Lord and his people.
