One of a kind! Not just the store, but the owner Lior. I am an avid cigar smoker. Both businesses and pleasure travel have afforded my wife the opportunity to visit shops all over the country. We have always enjoyed meeting the wide range of personalities, all of which are enjoyable, that cigar smoking seems to attract. What makes each shop special though is the person guiding the experience. Although we have very few bad experiences, meeting Lior has been our greatest experience. I live in wilmington and have been to every cigar shop around here multiple times. I must say that this is far and away the best cigar shop I've ever walked into. I've been coming here for over 2 years and have yet to see a customer dissatisfied. Since the first time I've been here the service has been impeccable. Not only is Lior a very nice and sociable guy, he's incredibly knowledgable in not only cigars in general, but every cigar he carries. The atmosphere there is always welcoming and you never feel out of place no matter how many people are in there. He holds cigar events quite frequently and even has an emailing to keep you updated. Not only does the cigar exchange have a great owner, staff and atmosphere, the complimentary coffee they serve while you are enjoying a cigar is fantastic, you can even buy a bag to take along with you. On top of all this, they've got some great boutique wines and champagne as well. All in all the cigar exchange is a brilliant little gem located in the heart of the historic district of downtown wilmington. The cigar Exhange, where do I start? The great deal I got? The best customer service ever? Or this cigar shop that had everything a cigar aficionado expects a cigar shop to have? I walked by this trendy smoke shop and was lured by the rich aroma of quality Smoke. I am a novice cigar aficionado but non the less a cigar aficionado. The owner was very welcoming as I walked in. I walked over to see the selection of cigars and lior the owner was with me within minutes. He is a very knowledgeable man not to mention genuine. He answered every one of my questions with insightful knowledge and did not try to sell me but made great recommendations. It was a full blown cigar experience and I left there a changed man. I bought a Great quality cigar humidor, a few cigars, a great quality lighter, a quality regulator along with solution. I know what each item could be sold for and lior has fairly priced every item. He gave me a great deal especially because I made a decent purchase. Moral of the story, if your a novice looking to get into cigars and want to get great quality products, that are fairly priced, and have your questions answered by a cigar aficionado expert this is the place to go. Even if your an expert come here to stock up or just lounge and enjoy a smoke with this man. Most definitely will be ordering products from here and definitely stop by when im in !! read more

Some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Tried to buy a Punch cigar and and then was told I had a $10 min. Said Ok and went and bought another. Checked out for the 2 and was told I had to buy the matches in a sarcastic way. I'm in retail and this is not how its done. read more

As a long time costumer and having purchased a humidor and a wide variety of cigars I was extremely disappointed the way my girlfriend and I were treated this past weekend. When I come home I often visit this establishment and partake in a cigar and glass of wine. On this particular occasion we had cigars I received as a gift and our intentions were to enjoy them and purchase a bottle of wine. The owner jokingly said we couldn't smoke cigars that were not purchased from his place of business and winked several times. Presuming he was providing some humor his demeanor changed and he became very serious and told us we were not welcome to stay and enjoy the cigars we had with us. I've traveled across the world and have been in many cigar bars/lounges and have never been told I couldn't smoke a cigar that was not purchased in said business. Also on this night we were the only people in the shop at that moment. I found the experience unprofessional and disheartening. I will not be visiting the Cigar Exchange again and will take my business elsewhere. read more

Easily the best cigar shop I've been to in North Carolina. The shop has an intimate feel and everyone is treated like a "regular" regardless of whether you buy an expensive $22 Cohiba or are smoking a cigar for the first time and only purchasing a $5 Sancho Panza. The atmosphere and ambience of the store is second to none and the selection of cigars consists of many boutique brands that you can't find anywhere else. The staff is welcoming to everyone and makes everyone feel at home by offering complimentary coffee for those wishing to stay and enjoy their cigar in the shop. The shop is very clean and ash trays are literally emptied every hour to maintain a clean lounge, which is something I've noticed a lot of other shops don't do. The staff at the cigar exchange does all of the little things that most others don't do which adds fly the experience and keeps me coming back. The events at the shop are first class and the staff is incredibly knowledgable about cigars- the owner enjoys giving history lessons on cigar companies and is passionate about what he sells, and it reflects in the quality of service and the hand picked selection of cigars in the humidor. Between the free wifi, complimentary coffee, and lowest priced yet highest quality cigars in the area, it is too easy to spend 8 hours in the shop and forget where the time went. Only being able to rate the cigar exchange as 5 stars is an understatement as they are masters in the art of earning lifelong customers. A+++ read more
