First, the other stuff: I didn't love the location because I wasn't going to the trade show my husband was attending. It was the perfect location for events at the Excel Center. For sightseeing, not so much. But I highly recommend it for the Excel. The quality is what I expect from Hilton - the accommodations are quite good, the restaurant food is also quite good, and the service is exceptional. So did it exceed expectations? Not much. But my expectations of Hilton properties are extremely high and they met them in every regard save one. They far exceeded my expectations at the bar. And the bar is the point of my review. After an exhausting day of travel (I met my husband at the hotel on the second last day of his trade show) I just needed a drink. I went in to the bar wishing I could get my favorite drink but not feeling very hopeful. I love a proper whiskey sour. A proper whiskey sour is made with egg white, bitters, and a cherry (in my case, several cherries.) Hardly anyplace makes them that way. The common fail is the egg white. I assume people don't want to make them that way because it's hard on the arm; you really have to shake it. A lot. But a proper one is outstanding. So I went over to the bar and inquired. Then I met the staff: Lucas, Marcu, Monika, and Sergio (I must apologize at this point because it took me so long to write this that I can't remember who had which role.) They were all fantastic! When I asked, the manager heard me inquire and immediately interjected. He said he'd be happy to go to the kitchen for an egg so the bartender could make it. When the server brought it to the table it had a cherry but was lacking bitters. So I asked if they had them to add and was immediately assured that she'd take care of it. I also asked for extra cherries. The drink returned a minute later, bitters in a pretty pattern and a pick filled with cherries. It was perfection!!! For the rest of my stay my cocktails were perfect! I ate every meal in the bar as well. I'm sure the service in the restaurant was great, but the bar staff took such good care of me that I didn't want to go anywhere else. My compliments to these individuals! They go above and beyond, making their guests feel valued. I was about to book this hotel for another trade show in September but it's already booked. I'm not surprised. Anyone who has stayed there once would want to stay again. I recommend the hotel, but the bar is a must!

Initially I…read morewas setting them at 4 stars until I pulled my covers back on the first night to find several hairs on the sheets. I was disgusted and immediately called reception to notify them. They stated they were going to change my room...but when they came up they only had the suites available on they had a house keeping colleague come in and change the whole bed and review all the cleaning. I was exhausted by this point. Then more and more things start to unfold so they are now just at a 1 star. A Lady guest walked into my room. backstory is she was a new guest and received her key from the front desk from one lady and then she stated it didn't work came back down and told another colleague the incorrect number and without checking to see if the guest was correct about the room number she gave her the new key card to my room...just imagine how shocked I was when some random woman walks in my room...that is a safety hazard. I called and walked down to complain and all they kept saying were sorry. (Would it only had been sorry if something happened to me?...not a good feeling at all.) Not all the equipment in their small gym works. The last safety certificate on the wall in the gym is from 2011. They also do not have any type of cleaning wipes to properly wipe down the equipment in the gym. There is just hand sanitizer by the window seal. There is a TV and a remote but I didn't try to turn it on due to them not having wipes to wipe down the equipment. The railing in the elevator just randomly broke when another guest put their hand on it while awaiting to get to the ground level. They do serve breakfast. It's a traditional English breakfast. Pork sausage, ham, beans, hashbrowns, scrambled eggs, grilled tomatoes, white or brown toast (also have gluten free toast that is wrapped) , yogurts, some fruits, mushrooms and there are pastries as well. It's a open Buffet style here. If you are trying to be close to central London you may want to try another hotel as this one is about 30 mins away in a car without traffic to central. With traffic and going through the tunnel it can take well over an hour. I do have to say that there is one housekeeping lady which I am going to get her name, she is beyond amazing! She is thorough and prompt about getting what is needed. She is so polite as well! All in all if this wasn't a booking that was placed for me, I would have left sooner.

There's an ice skating ring in front of the building to get you into the seasons mood. The rooms are quaint, clean and cozy. Actually particularly the tiling in the bathroom and the size of the bathroom are amazing. We spent a lot of time at the bar area and the spa. The spa is equipped with a steam room and a sauna. The sauna was no more than 40 Celsius. The steam room was okay in terms of heat. The jacuzzi was lukewarm at best. The pool was well heated and you can swim nice long lapse. The fitness studio is equipped with techno gym equipment, lots of weight equipment, even TRX, a rowing machine and much more. It has a good size. You find towels and water there (not always a given). I very much enjoyed the changing area, which offered GHD blow dryers. The staff (including the facilities guy Dell and the front desk lady Ella) were soooo kind. Big thank you to them. We were a bit disappointed at breakfast. The service was super slow and the selection often limited (because the staff didn't have time to refill quickly). We waited about 20 mins on tea and coffee at breakfast. What also bothered me a bit was how cold it was in many parts of the main building. The insulation is rather sparse in these older buildings. The windows are single paneled. If you sit in the bar area, you're guaranteed to feel a cold shiver sitting by the window area.

Excellent, say no more…read more But I will say more, obviously. Everything was nigh on perfect. Service was absolutely exemplary, from ALL the staff without being obsequious. They couldn't be more helpful or approachable. The hotel itself is an outstanding building (reached it's current incarnation during the Edwardian time I believe). Surrounded by 3,000 acres including a golf course. We went for a wedding, so didn't sample the golf course, or the Spa, or the conference facilities etc, but the formal gardens are well cared for and a great backdrop to the photos! And the food, a subject very close to my heart; was brilliant. My wife is on a non-lactose, non-gluten diet and of a 5 course meal on offer, she was able to have ... 5 courses. OK, we had to advise them in advance, but the adaptation was without fault. It's the first time my wife has been able to have a full meal at a restaurant/hotel for years! Oh, almost forgot the accommodation; we stayed in one of the mews cottages for the Saturday night; excellent! due largely as a result of the housekeeping, a lot of which goes on behind the scenes, but as I said the staff were all amazing. The only downside is that we live in Somerset and Eastwell Manor is, of course in Kent, so we won't be going there too often, but distance is the only barrier. Would totally recommend this venue.

Rooms are comfortable, as are the beds. If you asked me for any negative feedback ..... the TV is too small ...... nice flatscreen but very small ..... 19" at best! Food I've sampled from the bar menu is plentiful and tasty (top chips). The cooked breakfast is good too, cooked to order. Staff are always friendly, welcoming and helpful.... especially the barman. The bar is very comfortable, a plethora of comfy chairs and sofas to choose from. I haven't eaten in the restaurant yet in the evenings .... the menu does look good though, and is reasonably priced. Every visit down here in Kent results in me booking this particular hotel .... definitely worth the ££££

While sitting by reception (so I could use WiFi) I heard other guests checking out and complaining about their plumbing too - one shower would not get hot and one was either freezing cold or scalding hot. In summary: A nice old place but with some deferred maintenance. Better for tourists than hardened business travelers.

If you picture walking around the decks of the Yacht to take in the vibes of being on a boat, you will be severely disappointed. iii. Power Outage: Our room's key card box started sparking and crackling at 3:30 AM, knocking out all power and AC for the rest of the night for our room. (Front desk fixed it quickly the next morning, but the night was ruined). iv. Subpar Amenities: The breakfast was very lackluster, would definitely recommend skipping this unless it is included. The elevators were quite slow. v. Location: Outside of being located near the tube, it is quite far from most other attractions those visiting London would be interested in visiting. Definitely not a fancy high tea like at Boston Library or my favorite white hotel with columns in Waikiki. This was a simple choose your own tea bag, pour your own hot water, help yourself to the two layer items split between 4 people. My favorites were the ham sandwich the bread was super soft, the ham sliced so thin. The scone or crumpet like a biscuit to cut in half to add some clotted cream and jam from a mini jar of jam. Shannon was knowledgeable and the kindest tour guide who helped whoever needed assistance onto a collapsible stool onto and off the bus.

The only problem I encountered was that the buffet breakfast was supposed to still be available until a specified time. This recently renovated hotel located in the quiet neighborhood of Senvenoaks, just 28 minutes south of London by train, offered a clean, quiet and comfortable facility. The room was modern and the bed heavenly. All in the details: the bathroom had all the toiletries you might need, the rain shower was delightful, the illuminated 3x mirror a treat, and the big highlight was the activity panel (see picture) which gave the hotel staff information about your needs. From the inside of your room, you could electronically instruct the personnel that you were either sleeping, needing room service or attention. The room had 2 free bottles of water, a tea pot with a variety of tea options, and some cookies. All complimentary. Although the room had a safe, it did not have a mini bar. Breakfast was generally good and offered a variety of different things to choose from. Drawbacks: Some of the front desk staff was not very friendly and the wifi did not work well at times, making your work slow and frustrating. Also, the average age of the clientele must have been 80! All that being said, I would definitely choose this hotel if my business journey ever brings me back to this area.

Breakfast is extra, but the wide variety buffet should please most folks, and it beats scrounging something up nearby. You're a quick jaunt from the DLR to get all places you desire, with LCY across the water and LHR accessible via Elizabeth. Those attending something at ExCel will find it convenient as well. This whole area feels safe as sort of "hotel row" and university campus down the road. Enjoy a pleasant mile-plus path along the water across the street, or spend your leisure time with the canal rowers. You'll have to venture out for dining, but you'll have that saved 50% hotel room money to spend, so you'll be happy.

On 1/18, I was peacefully sleeping alone when the fire alarm abruptly went off in my hotel room, creating a distressing situation. Despite no one answering my calls through my phone, I headed downstairs after seeing another guest using the elevator. Surprisingly, all the receptionists were not on the phone, and I shared my experience. They apologized, attributing the alarm to a toaster issue, and casually shifted the conversation to breakfast. On a positive note, the staff here aren't solely receptionists; they have additional roles, including cashier and server duties. With all the responsibilities, they are doing a good job. While there's no room service, you can order food from the bar. I do want to note that all menu items are frozen including burger buns. Inquiring about the available dishes is advisable. A particular black female staff there went above the beyond by offering to make an egg croissant sandwich since the flatbread portion serves 2-3 people. I declined due to high butter reasons but I still appreciated the offering. I do wanted to add that food orders at the bar is until 9:30 pm and not 10pm. Situated amidst other hotels, Moxy lacks nearby dining options, with only a Chinese restaurant across the street. Ordering from Uber Eats is a common choice. The compact room size did not have a closet or iron board. There is an iron room. I appreciated the small side tables and a hot water machine. Complimentary drinks and a voucher for ice tea with or without alcoholic beverages was a nice touch. As for area of improvement, I would improve on safety. I would suggest having hotel phones accessible and adding additional speakers to be in more places to be able to clearly hear announcements. I would suggest staff to have training on how to give more empathy for guest as well. I hope Moxy will make improvements so no one else will have to experience feeling unsafe in the hotel. I was told that the air had been broken for days and there would be no update on when it would be fixed. The room that I checked into had a broken window. When I asked them to fix the window, they attempted to, but the issue was never resolved. The second night at this hotel, someone attempted to break into my room. The hotel was completely nonchalant about the incident. No one came to my room to take pictures, no one called my room to check on the door or fix anything. The excuse the manager gave me about someone attempting to break into my room was that the person was possibly drunk. They didn't offer to resolve anything and I just did not feel safe.

The night stay through my company travel agent was £7 more per night than the Telford ,location. The building has already been referred to by the previous reviewer. I had a very good welcome, unfortunately, my travel agent had forgot to inform them of my Club Carlson membership number. This was easily rectified by reception, and my room was upgraded I was offered a bag of sweets to choose from and I mentioned I'd have to select wisely, as it would be the kids eating them. Tomasz said have two instead....as I have two children. Large spacious room overlooking the Southend Pier. Given all the space it was disappoint to find a very small bathroom. I caught my foot on the edge of the door when trying to get access to the shower. There was a bathrobe and slippers available to use. Also had Aircon. Clean iron and ironing board. This scores points given the issues I've had in Telford. A pint of Becks - £3.90 Fillet Steak £20.00 I get 15% off via my Club Carlson card. The dining room was disappointing; very much like a canteen. Limited "specials" menu. Hence for choosing off the standard main menu. No free paper available. I asked whilst in the dining room if they had a paper, and I was shown, via a point, where to get the paper. So up I got and trotted over to get it. Look, customer service is all about customer service..... Get me the bloody paper..... OK I didn't say that, but after 4.75 hours of driving, I wasn't in the best frame of mind. Breakfast: Cold plates. Most of the bacon, sausages were cold. There were deep-fried mushrooms, and similar new potatoes. No fried eggs. Pretty disappointing, and where Telford score points. Took my tea in the bar lounge, and then noticed a few papers in the dining room being put straight. I took one, only to be told that they were for the dining room only. I promised to return the paper. The paper in the bar area was the previous day's. So with my discount my stay cost £86.45. Mainly charming Eastern Europeans serving. Met one Essex woman (newspapers for dining room only). I'd return, but then I'd have to as it is the one chosen by the company.....
