In my opinion, there is nothing "classy" about The Classy Cottage. My experience was that they were less than forthcoming, dishonest about when my order would ship, failed to provide order updates, and charged my credit card immediately -- weeks before they intended to ship the order. Reputable businesses do not charge your credit card until they are shipping the order. In my experience, the owner was rude, condescending, and extremely unprofessional in her interactions. There are many other reputable websites that sell the same products as they do at comparable prices while also providing excellent customer service, so I would recommend shopping elsewhere. read more

I spent over $1300 on four items and they will not let me return any of it. The two long boat vases don't fit on the shelf, and the two decorative boxes were of poor quality for the price. They dont even offer an exchange. Of course everything was in fine print so you don't notice that until it's too late. I will never order from them again. Every time I click on something on their website menu, it says page not available so I can't even leave a review. That to me is shady. If you like being treated rudely, being surcharged with anything the owner can dream up, inaccurate advertised / web pricing, and dealing with someone that takes no responsibility for their errors/issues, this is the place for you. My saga started with inaccurate discounted pricing on Google - which the owner made clear that she wouldn't honor. Then, her website allowed either $0.00 Free Delivery or $199 White Glove Delivery for the piece I selected. Her website let me select Free Delivery and I met all criteria for it (she sent them to me in our second altercation. She insisted that I would have to pay the $199 delivery charge based on where I lived. I am so glad that I was able to cancel this order and purchase the piece elsewhere. By the way, the competing vendor renewed my faith in furniture sellers, priced everything accurately, and were effusively nice. The ender of this was, after the order was cancelled, she announced that she would have paid the White Glove shipping fee. If this was the case, it was absolutely the first time that offer had been made. (Especially considering that just before cancelling the order, I had to hear her "woe is me" story that shipping this 1 piece would cost her over $600...) The business name may be Classy Cottage, but the owner is the total embodiment of "unclassy". Interacting with her, you are almost guaranteed to hear that she has been selling furniture from her multimillion dollar business since she was 15 (or maybe she said since Earth cooled). I ordered a John Richard sculpture on August 27, 2023. There was not information when placed order that it would take longer than 30 days for shipment. When not received in September, I contacted Allison there. She responded by email that there can be a 16 week lead time for this. Finally, in October, I was emailed that it would be shipped by January 26, 2024. I have no further updates, and it is not received. This company may be cheaper but they are using your money and who knows if I will ever get the sculpture. I will be contacting my bank regarding this for a dispute. Look elsewhere for your deals on items such as this. read more

Love working with The Classy Cottage. Allison is so patient, helpful and gives wonderful advice without being a pushy salesperson. I've worked with her twice now, both times were great. The first time I ended up buying a piece of art from her, which now hangs proudly in our bedroom. The second time I ended up changing direction with updating our foyer/stairwell and opted not to purchase the art. Nevertheless, Allison was patient with me as I cycled through my decision making, and I'm now very happy with the choice I made. (Lighting instead of artwork.) If I could leave a zero star review I would. Allison Allen is a dishonest business owner and continuously claims items "are being shipped" when this is not the case and she knows it. I placed an order in July and inquired 6 months later on why it had still had not shipped (estimated delivery in September 2022...it is now January 2023 and still has not shipped) and was told it was the fault of another employee and would be delivered in the next 6 days. Here we are three weeks later...still no delivery and when I reached out this time to just cancel it, I was told there was a "warehouse flood" and it was again delayed. Not only was the delivery on time and the unit was perfect - not a defect on it which is rare, but the delivery company was the best I ever had. Three gentlemen placed and put it together. I found classy cottage by sheer accident. Before I make a purchase I go here first to see if Allison can get me the item for a better price. If she can get it her prices are the best. Allison always makes her best attempt to find the item I am looking for and even if it does not work out she spends her time and effort in trying. Since Covid supply chain issues have taken delivery time to a new dimension, but that is everywhere and just part of the current environment. I'd give 0 stars if I could. Their customer service leaves much to be desired if you're attempting a return. They make you jump through hoops to get the money credited back to your account. The customer must pay for return shipping and on top of that they will not refund the shipping they charged you to originally send the item. They also charge a significant restocking fee. The person replying to the emails to complete this exchange (which took way too long and too many messages back and forth) is named Allison. She's incredibly rude and made it so hard just to complete your transaction. They really try to keep your money at all costs. Once they FINALLY agreed to partially refund my order after I had to follow up as to the status, Allison rudely wrote me back and labeled my message as "SPAM". Ordered John Richards art work on 4/29 and after 3.5 months was scheduled for delivery on 8/12/22 (lead time was stated 4-6 weeks on their website and if it was longer policy was to email the customer to inform them which I never received). Well on 8/12/22 the Art $1560.00 piece of art was NEVER delivered. Emailed Classy Cottage to let them know it was not delivered and Alison who is the owner and apparently only employee stated the delivery company is "SEARCHING" for it. Well week after week and numerous emails my response from Allison was they are still "SEARCHING" for it. Being the piece of are is about 5ft X 6ft in size one would think it would not be to hard to find. Close to 1 month later Allison said they are still "SEARCHING "for it at which time I requested a refund of my $1560.00 which I viewed it as FRAUD and theft of funds at this time. Allison refused my request so had to contact my credit card company to dispute the charge. Also filing complaints with regulatory authorities in North Carolina. I recently had a horrible experience with The Classy Cottage. In my opinion, you should avoid dealing with this company. In April 2018, I purchased a decorative bowl online through The Classy Cottage's website. Prominently displayed on every page of the website, in bright red letters, is "Free shipping over $125.00." I purchased a bowl for around $200. When you get to the check out page, there is a long list of terms and conditions. I read a few of them, including one near the top on Shipping Policies, which again stated there was free shipping for items over $125, and did not say anything about returns. According to the owner (more on her later), there is a sentence buried later in the Terms and Conditions that says if you return something, you have to re-pay the Classy Cottage's initial cost of shipping. I purchased the bowl. When it arrived, it was too small for the space where I planned to place it. I called the company and asked about returning the product. The owner went nuts on me. Her first comment was "we will see how much money you get back," which surprised me since I was trying to return the product. She said I should have read all of her detailed terms and conditions, which she said entitled her to (1) charge me for her cost of shipping the bowl to me (despite the bright red sign on each page of her website that says free shipping for purchases over $125, with no caveats or asterisks), (2) charge me a re-stocking fee of 15%, and (3) she said I had to pay for insurance when I returned the item, along with return shipping (which I already planned to pay). I pointed out that her website was misleading, since not only did the red letters on each page advertise free shipping without any caveats, but the top of her T's & C's talked about shipping and again said nothing about her policy of trying to charge for initial shipping if you returned a product. She started screaming at me on the phone. Literally screaming. She would not let me finish a sentence. She cut me off repeatedly, threatened to call my credit card company and tell them I was defrauding people if I cancelled payment, etc. When I said that her policy basically meant I would have to pay more than $100 to return a $200 product, she told me that was too bad. She said she had a lawyer who had approved her misleading T's and C's, and I was stuck and it was tough luck. I even put her on speaker and let my husband try and talk to her, and she yelled at him too. In the end, we just kept the bowl because even though we don't like it, she was threatening to report me (for what, who knows) and making it impossible to return the product. In fact, she refused to give me a return address or the authorization code for a return unless I agreed to her onerous terms. When I said I would send the bowl back to the address on the website, she said that would not work and that if I did that she would not refund me a single dime. I begged her to tell me the right return address, yet she refused. I have never before dealt with a merchant who acted like this. I would advise everyone to avoid shopping at this company. She has a misleading website; she was completely rude and inappropriate with me; and her policies are designed to make it impossible to return products. Save your money and time and shop elsewhere.
