Once we finally got into her office for my daughter's assessment, I quickly realized why the waiting room noise was so intense: Dr. Shishodia speaks so loudly that it borders on yelling, and it absolutely compromises patient privacy. Anyone sitting in the waiting room could easily hear private conversations happening behind closed doors. Today, I called to ask a simple and reasonable question about what information she typically includes in a patient's visit summary. Instead of answering, she became defensive, rude, condescending, and noticeably angry almost immediately. As I tried to calmly explain why I was asking, she continually spoke over me, raised her voice even more, and wouldn't allow me to get a full sentence out. She even insinuated that I was trying to "put her in the middle of two parents," when all I was asking was what general details might appear in her summary of the single appointment she had with my child. At that point, I had to interrupt her to tell her how inappropriate and disrespectful her behavior was. Based on her reaction and the hostility she showed over such a basic question, it's hard to imagine she is taking thorough or accurate patient notes. I have never snapped at a healthcare provider before. I understand the strain on our healthcare system and generally have a high level of patience and empathy. But the way this doctor communicates, both during the appointment and on the phone, is some of the worst bedside manner I have ever encountered. Questions about medical records or visit summaries should never be met with confrontation, hostility, or unprofessional behavior. I strongly urge other parents to be aware of this before bringing their children here.

Not the most serious of cases I'm sure, but I made the decision to start therapy primarily as an aid for long-term growth, not just for the anxiety and depression issues I had been facing. Turns out that Asturias was the right person for the job. He takes a more psychodynamic approach to therapy, and attempts to uncover the root of your issues before prescribing any specific treatments (cbt, hypnosis, etc.). I've always considered myself to be very introspective and Asturias has helped me grow my perspective on a number of issues surrounding my life. While working with him has been fairly stereotypical (leather sofa, talking about my parents, etc.), it has been immensely helpful as I've felt happier than I have in over a year. I'm able to focus more while on the job, and I'm a better partner to the love of my life. Asurias is always professional, insightful, challenging, patient, honest, and just good at what he does. I intend to make this a long-term thing, so long as I can afford it. UPDATE: 3/9/2015 I thought that it would be good for me to circle back on my original rating of Asturias. If I could give him more than 5-stars I would. We have been working together for nearly 18 months and Asturias has helped me grow to become a very different, much happier and healthier person. When I look back on who I was 18 months ago, I almost don't recognize that person. As I mentioned above, I started therapy primarily for long-term growth and after we worked through my larger anxiety and depression issues, Asturias and I continued to work on growth in other areas. In many ways, I have completely changed my approach to life. This includes the way I see and interact with my partner, my friends, my family and my job. He has helped me build the courage to go back to school and start a new career following my passion, something I should have done years ago. But I decided to write this one because it was an interesting/perplexing experience to me. I had a 50 minute interview session with this therapist. At the end of the interview, we both agreed that we are not a good match to each other. I read some of the good reviews for him before scheduling an appointment, and I can certainly see how this therapist can be helpful to certain patients and I can fully understand why they like him. I was hoping that I would have a good experience with him myself when I scheduled the first session. I have done a lot of deep work before. Everything the other reviewers were talking about and everything this therapist was saying about my patterns in the interview session made sense to me. These comments/suggestions resonated with what I worked on before and what I am looking for in a therapist. I was really hopeful that this therapist would be a good match for me. He has the insight and the analytical mind set, he clearly knows deep issues and wants to help patients to make progress quickly. Part of me was saying to myself: This should work. And yet we didn't connect by the end of the interview session. He was watching me, knowing that there was trauma and painful struggle, but he seemed to expect the patient to open up to him and go deep in the first 50 minutes of an interview session. I didn't get the impression that he got me at the emotional level and was holding the patient in their struggles, that he got the hint that I knew what I was doing and I am very capable of talking openly in therapy, but just not in the first 50 minutes, with someone I hadn't made the connection yet. To me, this was an interview session and I needed to see if there was empathy and connection first before exploring something deep and painful. In fact, I almost got the impression that maybe his emphasis is not so much to heal the patient in the therapeutic relationship dynamic, but rather to provide insight so that the understanding of the issue is reached quickly. His approach can work very well to certain patients, but I have seen other great therapists who provide the same type of insights, deep into childhood or traumatic experiences, making connections to the present pervasive patterns...etc. But in addition to all of that, the other therapists I had good experiences with also had an emphasis in the healing aspect of the therapeutic relationship, so that the patient experiences the interpersonal relationship differently than the bad ones they had in their past. For some reason, this healing aspect of the patient-therapist relationship dynamics was not experienced in my first 50 minutes of an interview session with this therapist.

If you have a drinking problem and you suffer from addiction please don't wait to get the help that you need. I wasn't sure what to do with myself a month ago and my mental health was deteriorating. I have an amazing job and saw that even tho I was very functioning in real life deep down I was suffering daily and needed help because I couldn't do it on my own and I'll fully admit that. The moment you walk through those doors you feel welcomed. The staff will teach you so many coping mechanisms and with group therapy you'll get to express yourself and hear like minded people tell their stories. I was able to finally get on my correct medication regimen and my mental health has NEVER been better. I feel 100% again. Jerilyn is such an amazing councilor and I loved how vulnerable she was telling her all her stories that were so relatable. She is there to help you. She was the first person that made me realize I was in the right place and I'll forever cherish that. Jimmy is a stellar councilor and was so spiritual I loved our groups hearing him speak and teach you'll see a change in you each session. He gave us all great advice with great coping mechanism skills. Yanna I'm gonna miss her so much and our late night talks she will sit and speak with you and actually be there in the present and listen to what you have to say. She was also so welcoming with her group sessions. She also works with out patient so I can't wait to see her again! Vanessa and Derrick are both councilors who also work with their outpatient program and they are both there to help us continue our recovery and keep our sobriety strong. Both of them were great with their groups and shared valuable information and tools for recovery. Christine was our therapist and she was AMAZING ! She really is there and listens to what you have to say and cares so much about your process with the program. She's helped me so much with our 1on1 sessions and I'm very grateful for that. I learned so much about myself and applied so much of what I learned with her groups. Jorge, Will, Trisha, Kylie and Arsalan all were apart of the intake process and were so welcoming and chill they make you feel like family. The bond I made with everyone here at RCR was so real and I did NOT expect that to happen at all. In fact I didn't even know if doing this would actually change me. It wasn't until I started to actually feel different and I started taking things day by day and following the process. That's when I knew this was different. I actually changed for the better and I'll never forget them for saving me from myself. Best decision I ever made for myself!

Our son is smart, kind, handsome but so compassionate and sensitive it hurt him terribly. Kids in their twenties are so absorbent when it comes to death. I wish he didn't have to learn it at this age. My husband lost his mother, sister, and brother tragically and I lost both my parents in the same three years. Our son is the one that took all of our hurt and sorrow internally. He cried with us and made us food and took care of our whole family during these times in our lives. Unfortunately he felt exhausted and could not do it anymore and took to other vices. First, smoking marijuana, then dabs, then pills, and in two years was a mess. This program is teaching him to live with pain and guilt. I love this program. It is bringing our son home sober, very knowledgeable and strong. My swelling and restricted movement had me very nervous. The therapists addressed my fears and helped me through the mental emotional trauma that comes from a cancer diagnosis and the aftermath of surgery. I was treated with dignity and my privacy was taken into consideration at every visit. I made rapid progress and looked forward to my visits because I could see the results after each session. . I feel very confident i will make a full recovery. I feel empowered to follow through with the radiation therapy because I know I will have support and recover quickly with the care I will receive at the Rehab Group.
