For lunch I ordered the avo toast with salmon and eggs and was thoroughly disappointed. Firstly it took about 25 minutes to come out, and the place wasn't busy at all. The 'toast' was in actual fact slightly warm bread and the avo spread on it turned it into mush. The salmon was delicious, however the two fried eggs on top were entirely overcooked. Half the yolk was hard and burnt while the other half was runny and cold. On top was sprinkled some dry rocket leaves: no dressing, no salt and pepper on the tables, not even a slice of lemon on the side. I was so disappointed. And what was more scandalous was that this dish cost €8.95! Avoid.

The staff are super friendly and attentive, the menu ranges from booster smoothies/juices, porridge, salads, paleo treats and the infamous pancakes. Another huge bonus, they serve 3fe coffee & matcha lattes. I had the pancakes and they were delicious, I'm so stuffed after them.. But didn't want to leave a crumb! I'll be trying the bacon and avocado the next time. Definitely worth a visit, lovely relaxed atmosphere and super casual.. Perfect the for brunch!

Howth is a haven of cafes & restaurants. We stopped by East Cafe Bar for the relaxed atmosphere…read more We ordered drinks (Guinness - good, Prosecco - completely flat) and the seafood chowder, crab claws, oysters Rockefeller, and house chips. The seafood chowder was thick and creamy, with a wonderful flavor but not a lot of actual seafood in the bowl. The oysters Rockefeller were abysmal -- not an ounce of moisture or much flavor, with what I can only assume to be oyster dried up in a shell of sandy crumbs. Crab claws were tasty and meaty but a bit overcooked. I find it perplexing that a cafe attached to a well-established seafood restaurant didn't actually have any utensil for seafood except regular forks. We asked for a seafood cracker for the large crab claws, and were told they didn't have any. We were offered lobster picks but they never arrived. The home chips we ordered also never arrived, but we had waited so long (40 mins) for the food at that stage that we didn't bother asking for them. Overall, the service was lacking. We, along with two other parties, were standing around for about 10 mins (sign said wait to be seated), with multiple staff walking by us. Eventually, we grabbed someone and asked to be seated at the counter opposite of the bar which was completely empty. When we asked about the delay with the food, no one bothered getting back to us and we had to ask for updates. I love the relaxed ambience, but the service and food left a lot to be desired. For the price, there are much better options in the area.

Sitting outside overlooking the pier is really an idolic location. I had the crab claws which we out of this world, the prawns which we amazing fresh Dublin Bay prawns and the burger which was also really good. I had a pack of kids with me and they were very accommodating and the kids fish and chips was perfect. The service was great - for a small place they seemed to have tons of staff who were really quick and efficient and also friendly. The prices aren't bad - certainly not cheap but for such amazing food you certainly get what you pay for.
