We met the gorgeous couple who hand-make the gorgeous jewelry sold under the Dconstruct name at the Winnipeg Folk Fest, and then got to visit their shop and atelier in town. They've got their whole families involved making modern lovely pieces, and everything feels made with care and packed with love. My favourites are the pendants made of cement with rose gold, super stunning and like nothing else I've really seen. They also stock a small but beautifully curated collection of independent designer fashion for women, including Eve Gravel from Montreal whose dresses just keep getting better and better, and some stylish t-shirts and tops. They have some art and cards for sale and a number of other treasures in the tiny space. Definitely go say hi if you are in the area. This little designer shop perfect for gift giving and for buying that one piece that everyone will ask you about and then you can say casually "Oh this, i got it in Winnipeg!" Great Product, Great Customer Service…read more A few months ago I had purchased a pair of beautiful and unique looking concrete cufflinks for my boyfriend from a boutique distributor in NYC. After attending an event he was devastated to find that one cufflinks had been lost and the boutique no longer sold them. While researching concrete cufflinks online I found Dconstruct and called and spoke to Trish who was able to verify that the cuffs were originally from Dconstruct. Even though Dconstruct does not still currently offer the exact combination of color concrete and gold of the original pair, Trish was able to get an identical replacement pair and send them to us, completely as a curtesy. This level of kindness and commitment to ones customers really stands out. I am so deeply appreciative to Trish and the team at Dconstruct. I am also very excited to have found them because they have great products and I'm definitely looking as I shop for unique gifts my loved ones (and myself).

Staff are super friendly and kind. Just an update for those who like gifts that matter They are selling the cutest wooden houses in support of mental health . All the proceeds go the maker which is really amazing. They have a map of Manitoba and come with a little star so you can place your town on the map. For 15-20 dollars they are a steal and will look super cute in my kitchen. The staff said you can email the maker for custom provinces. I think they would make a great gift for a great cause.

Passport stolen, city locked down, the sound of sirens and the smell of burning filled the air. This man, this guy who knew me not even in a biblical sense for just a few weeks took a 16 hour bus ride across 2 countries to make sure I was ok. We ended up hiding away at his cousin's beach house on a empty strip of sand in a remote village while he fed me pineapples in the day and at night I would wake up crying from memories of men with machetes burning down churches full of children. All he could do was tell me it was going to be ok. It was our morning ritual to make the only footsteps on the beach and collect sand dollars whose bodies wash up on the shore after their death. Every little sea creature skeleton wiped away a fearful memory until there were no more night mares... and after awhile they weren't marine corpses anymore but reminders that though life can be horrid, heartbreaking, gruesome, unfair, dire, terrifying, it still has the capacity to be beautiful and birth love. When I opened that sweet little cardboard box, all those feelings came flooding back to me and that necklace isn't just a necklace, but a visual reminder of a memory of the heart.

He went back before the store closed an hour or so after the purchase and they made an excuse not to honour it, saying the salesperson who helped him had to do the transaction. Well, my husband was on a schedule for work and could not stick around until the next day the salesperson returned so they said they would call us and honour the coupon. They never called. It is a year and 2 months later. We were regular customers at the Calgary store. We are disppointed at the service.
