Huge selection, makes it overwhelming. When first walking in we were greeted by a lady, but she seemed to FOLLOW US AROUND THE STORE. We just came in to browse, and when at the blazer section she came over to tell us that they were too big. She continued to somehow be in the same vicinity we were, and the store is big so she was obviously following us, and "straightening" the already straight clothes. She whispered something to the other owner, and he came over to tell us that we can't use our phones to take pictures because his merchandise is "one of a kind" and "no one makes them". I was using my phone to look up other places to explore around the area, since we're new college students. Then he continued to ask our knowledge in suits and brands, and criticized us saying to my partner that "you must shop at Old Navy. You don't know men's fashion". Overall, they came off rude and pushy. Do not recommend. The items looked cheap like resale items. Service made us not want to come back period. Very overbearing. read more

i needed a suit on short notice for my wife's funeral. i hadn't owned a suit since i left the corporate world 30 years ago and needed some guidance. i gave some general ideas of what i was looking for and they had a suit in my hands in under five minutes (I was looking for a tweed suit). I ended up with a quality tweed in a fine houndstooth pattern, great weight with a nice green thread worked into the weave. I'm very happy with my purchase in spite of it being sticker shock (something that happens when your last suit was 30 years ago). However, the price was not much different from what it was then plus inflation. The fitting was done and tailoring took under two weeks. I am very happy with the entire experience. read more

I was amazed at the selection and the owner was very pleasant and extremely helpful. I notice a lot of comments here about price / buying on line. I don't know if that's true or not. What I do know is that The Clothier provided me with the kind of service that I haven't seen in 30 years! So if it's a little more expensive it's worth every penny. Only store in the area you will find nice clothes for larger men. I struggle finding dress clothes in stores that fit me. Frances was extremely helpful and even stayed late while impatiently chose my suit. Happy with the product, and the customer service was second to none. read more

I recently moved into the area and found myself in need of professional clothing. A colleague recommended The Clothier and I have been very impressed by my first few visits. The quality and variety of clothing is as good as it's going to get in Central PA. With hundreds of suits, sports jackets, slacks, you're bound to find something that you'll like. I am 6'6" 280lbs and they carry suits, slacks, and jackets that fit me. I've seen other reviews describe the service as "pushy", but if you listen to what Francis is saying it's more "Passionate." This is a family-owned business (operated by Mother, Father, and Son) and I would be fired up too if I built this place the way Francis has. He does all of the alterations by hand, and the quality is excellent. The price is probably considered high for the area, but compared to any similar store in a larger city it's actually very reasonable. If you're a professional man looking to be outfitted in quality clothing, The Clothier is excellent by any standard. read more

This store is like a mens clothing superstore! There is so much merchandise from casual clothes to suits and shoes, all in a wide range of sizes. Alterations are available and performed on site by the owner himself. There is excellent customer service that you just can't find anywhere else. My fiancé and I went here just a short month before our wedding to get him a suit. Francis was wonderful and helped us get the perfect suit. He had it tailored and ready for us one week after picking it out! And my fiancé looks so handsome in it! I can't wait to walk down the isle to the most handsome man.. and thanks to the clothier, he will be looking like a million bucks on the day we will remember for the rest of our lives! To summarize- this place is like Groupon, but instead of paying the bogus "75%" discount - you pay at the ridiculous MSRP. The owner will give you this story about going to Europe to find real, authentic, premier styles, but the suits are actually bought from wholesalers and thus, the brands are relatively unknown - allowing them to push that these suits as rare and that's the reason you've never heard of the brands. After doing some research, and calling up the supply chain, I spoke with the wholesale shop of the $700 suit I bought, and confirmed 1) I could buy it for $199 on a handful of online stores, and 2) this suit is NEVER sold at MSRP. I went back to the Clothier and gave them pushback, and they eventually conceded and offered a $100 gift card, but I decided I'd rather not spend another dime in that place, and left the money on the table - that's how disgusted I was / am, and embarrassed that I got duped. I would recommend not buying your suit from this place, or at least walking in with the understanding behind what these suits actually are. read more

We went Saturday for our first time said my husband needed a suit for Thursday they set us up with everything we needed and alterations so we can have it by Thursday. Everyone was helpful and courteous. We spent a little more than expected but got it all in one store and with most stores going out of business, I couldnt get a suit and dress shoes on line. Thank you for getting us in and out in 1/2 an hour and the suit is American made. read more

The assistance offered by the staff is often times pushy yet helpful. The variety of in-stock sizes is unbeatable. The prices are simply too high, however. If you Google the same products online you'll likely find them for hundreds less (for instance, a Merona suit). If you are a bigger man - like 44 waist / 50+ jacket, then Francis is the man. Prices may seem a bit high, but they include the tax and the alterations! He really knows clothes and is a great resource to talk to about what your closet should contain etc. Has the best dress shirts I have ever owned too. read more

I went in to The Clothier with a very specific product in mind, a Borsalino fedora. I asked to see their stock and the salesman said that while they did have Borsalinos, he wanted me to try the Stetsons. OK, fine. I asked for my size, I tried it on, and it was slightly too snug so I asked for the next size up. The salesman argued with me that that was the size I asked for. I said yes, but it was too snug, so could I please try the next size up. He rolled his eyes and went and got the hat. I tried it on and told him that yes, it is nice, but could I try on the Borsalino and compare the two? He then spent the next five minutes extolling the virtues of the Stetson and telling me that I did not want a Borsalino. I once more asked politely for the Borsalino just to try it on and compare the two. He refused and told me I'd like the Stetson better. I told him I'd think about it, left, and bought exactly what I wanted from an out of town retailer for less money. This is the second time I have ever been in The Clothier and both times I was treated the same way. I don't understand why people insist on defending this place so fervently except to say that maybe paying too much for their clothes and dealing with snobby salesmen makes them feel more high class. Trust me, you can do better elsewhere. read more
