I came here before for physical therapy which is in the same building. Loved the size of the pools but didn't join till recently. I have no complaints. The facility is clean. It's gigantic and has everything I need. I am a senior who loves to swim and I met other seniors there during the week when most people are at work. I have a lot of time to use the equipment, no waiting. You have to reserve the lap pool but that's fair. The parking is just fine. I love the place. read more

This is not a private gym. This is part of the Hoffman Estates Park District yet the people that work here believe they are entitled. I brought my 12-year-old for open gym yet they wanted to charge me for a all day pass for $15. Second, as I was filling out the paperwork they said that I could not leave my son unattended at any time. Quite frankly Hoffman states should not have offered private classes in this case swimming classes or any other classes that are reasonable prices when parents like me will bring their children as a plus one and cannot enjoy the open courts that are completely empty with no classes! Any Hoffman States gym charges from $1 to $4 dollars?! read more

This is my gym. This is where I go to work on my huge bulging muscles. We'll not really, but I do Zumba, Bokwa, and Raise the Barre. The instructors are high energy and tons of fun! I actually enjoy going to the gym. I wish they had later classes and maybe some between the hours of noon and 4:30 for when I have days off work. I don't really use the equipment outside of classes. The showers and locker rooms are always clean and orderly. I'm really glad I joined Prairie Stone! read more

The gym itself is lovely. The two-star review is for the Kids Korner. I was told to pick up my children and leave because my son has a skin condition (eczema and scarring). They believed it was hand, foot, mouth. It was not. I assured them it wasn't. They made us leave and told us not to return without a doctor's note.... over eczema. The operations manager said, "I hope you can appreciate our caution, as a parent." Sure, I could. However, this is ECZEMA, so I don't appreciate the ignorance. If he is allowed to go to school without issue, then I would think going to the childcare at the gym would be fine. Guess not. My experience before this point was fine, but I guess my son hadn't had a good eczema outbreak before this. read more

Upon arriving at this ridiculously large facility I thought to myself, self, if this freakin' place is as impressive on the inside as it is on the outside it will be EPIC! Did I mention great parking? Once past the front desk I found myself meandering down a short distance to find an area equipped with several pieces of Life Fitness selectorized units. Pretty cool so far. Continuing to trek down this cavernous dwelling I discovered yet another massive semi enclosed area. Wandering in wide eyed wonderment I noticed several additional selectorized units from the cybex line. Much older pieces than the aforememtioned (if I had to guess 15 to 20 years older). Well maintained I must admit however. Saddened, I pressed on. Finally I reached what initially appeared as Xanadu! At first glance this incredible space which resembled an amazon warehouse looked to have the widest array of fitness "toys". Upon closer inspection I was disappointed to find mismatched free weights, sub standard plate load units compliments of Matrix. (Mind you Matrix makes great equipment just not this particular line). What I don't get is why have this big, beautiful facility if you're not going to go the extra mile and fill it with the most current state of the art tools! Darn it people you were so close! But than again I'm a snob when it comes to this stuff. I'm pretty sure the rest of you nice normal folks will find this place to be PHENOMENAL!! read more

I have been a member here for about 6 months and I absolutely love it. Amenities-wise, it is pretty comparable to a Lifetime Fitness, complete with rock climbing wall, spa services and onsite child care (not that I've used any of the three), but it tends to be way less crowded than Lifetime, especially if you go after 7 p.m. About the only "standard" thing that they don't have is racquetball courts, but I think one of the other facilities operated by Hoffman Estates Park District - which you also gain unlimited access to with your PSSWC membership - might have these. I've tried several of the free group fitness classes, which are very popular. They have a good variety of offerings, though the latest class time is 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. on weeknights - it would be nice if they had some later offerings. The #1 reason I love it so much is that it is 5 minutes door-to-door from my house. I have learned in the past that if a place is more than about 10 minutes from home, or 10 minutes "out of my way" if it is on my way home, then I won't go. So proximity to home is key. As a resident of Hoffman Estates, I believe I pay $59 a month, which is comparable to other places. read more

This is a pretty good place. We usually rent out one of the volleyball courts here for a couple of hours. The facilities otherwise here include a pool, a running track and a gym that I am aware of. There are a couple of stores and locker room too. Now, weird thing here is, we are allowed to use locker room, but I asked them if we could use the showers, they said NO. It was for members only, which seemed really strange as to why we were not allowed. We still pay for the rental courts. So after we work up a sweat, we can't use SHOWERS seemed really cold from one of the young ladies at the check-in desk. read more

First of all, if there are any rowers out there, you should know that this place has two ergs, and both are very well-maintained. Not brand new, but they certainly do the job. For non-rowers - make sure to check them out. You have no idea how hard it is to find a gym with any rowing machines, let alone functioning ones. As for the rest of the gym, this place is huge. A few basketball courts, some tennis courts, a suspended track, a climbing wall, two pools (one is for kids only), plenty of cardio machines, lots of circuit machines, all topped off with a pretty decent free weight room. The staff members are all very friendly, there's never a wait, the machines are always well-maintained, and the place is spotless. For a typical, corporate-type gym, it doesn't get any better than this. As a former college athlete, I'd complain that there aren't enough free weights or that I'd appreciate some more serious gym-goers there, but that was never what Prairie Stone was meant to be. Not the greatest for aspiring body builders, but perfect for just about anyone else. read more

Prairie Stone Sports seems to have all the amenities you would like in a gym. They have rowing machines, treadmills, elliptical machines, a rock climbing wall (though it's really small), a swimming pool, and a tennis court (that you can have access to at a separate charge). It's priced a bit better than Lifetime Gym but you also only get access to this one place. They seem to be well staffed and are very professional from front to end. While the price is lower than Lifetime Gym, it's still pretty hefty. The other BIG PLUS is that it's almost never busy. No waiting for machines, etc. read more

So far so good. I got a memebership here about 1 month ago. My cousin and I decided to start working out together so we tried out a few places. 1st we went to Midtown in Palatine and yes that place is nice but dude that place is expensive. Then we went to the YMCA, it offered all the same stuff as MIdtown but just less fancy but also at a lower price point. Then we tried out Prairie stone. It was a good midpoint between Midtown and YMCA. It is classy and clean but not crazy expensive. I am paying $67 a month for an adult and my cousin since she is under 23 is paying $32 a month. You get a ton of classes included as well as lots of equipment. There is an indoor running track, a rock climbing wall, basketball courts, tennis court(extra $) and 2 swimming pools. Plenty to keep you busy. Spinning class was superior to the YMCA's class, you spin in the dark which is nice cause that class makes you sweat. Cardio kickboxing was challenging but man you sure feel it. Both teachers are very peppy and make it fun to work out. Locker rooms are nice, and have lockers that are decently easy to use. Overall great place so far, makes it fun to work out. read more

We signed up at a time when there was no registration fee. We pay about $95 a month for two of us. Place is modern, clean, never too crowded, and it's far from a meat market. I just do the elliptical and weights on occasion, and never have had to wait for a machine. I've been to other gyms (private and "park district" like this one), and this is the nicest. read more

Good place to work out! The staff is very friendly and helpful. Also for you college students out there. There is a 1 month member ship during the breaks so you just have to pay once to use the gym until you go back to school. Has all the amenities you need!! I can't say enough positive things about Prairie Stone Sports and Wellness Center. My family and I have been members for nearly 10 years now. The offerings are great, with a good selection of high quality facilities, equipment, group classes, park district activities/lessons, etc. The staff is amazing. They really care about their jobs and their members. They greet you by name, take the time to help with any questions or issues, and take member feedback seriously. They also have an on-site childcare offering (Kids Korner) that is FANTASTIC! I have been taking my children there for 7 1/2 years and 1 year respectively. The service, and especially the people, have been a godsend. They take such good care of my kids, and I am a very tough critic in this regard. Age appropriate activities, close supervision, engaged and caring staff, clean environment (I constantly see them cleaning surfaces and toys), and as a parent whose children have been going since they were small babies I appreciate the hygiene guidelines they enforce (no shoes, socks must be worn, hand sanitizer readily available, no sick children, etc). If I could give them more than 5 stars I would. read more

I love everything about this gym. All of the staff is amazing, and my kids love going in the Kids Korner to see some of their favorite sitters, which is a huge relief in itself. We stopped our membership here because of the lack of service we experienced from some of the management. When I called this past summer and left 3 voicemails for Ms. Tuso asking about an overnight birthday party for my son, she didn't even bother calling back. When I called to ask questions about tennis lessons, I got a call back several days later, after the session had started. I guess they must be bombarded with business and don't need my business, which is hard to believe in this economy. The facility is decent, except the whirlpool keeps breaking and doesn't get fixed timely. Also, their family changing room is a joke. It only has 3 rooms. Indoor track, indoor tennis, three basketball courts, and great locker rooms. They could use some more hard core body sculpting equipment but the have enough for most people. This fitness center is located inside a very newly built business center. There's lots of small businesses around. The fitness center, itself, is very well-kept and spacious. It is also never very crowded, so there are never any distractions as you are woking out. And membership at this place is pretty cheap too. However, it is located at the far edge of Hoffman Estates, and is a far drive down. read more

We come here for our parent-tot swim class. I love this class. There are other classes occurring at the same time in other areas of the pool, so there are lots of kids around. The swim class is great, the teacher is patient and I love the variety of water toys and items to help my son feel more comfortable in the water. We usually finish the class with a song, which my son goes crazy for :) read more

This place is amazing in terms of the facility... its huge and has a variety of things to do, such as run, wall climb, play basketball, lift weights, swim, and so much more. I personally didn't think it was worth more than three stars, because the entry fee for a one time use for basketball is $12. I find this to be a little too expensive just to play basketball. I am sure there are more advantages to getting a membership versus visiting once, but this is my perspective. I only went here because my brother lives in the area, and the gym we usually go to, which charges only $5 and has more basketball courts, was closed for a charity event. read more

ABSOLUTELY love the Kids Korner at this gym!!! The Kids Care Team is wonderful with our son. We've gone to many gyms in our lifetime and there is no comparison when it comes to the Kids Care Team and the Management Team. Christine Tusa keeps the environment positive, safe and high energy. She's responsive, kind and determined to make this a great club. Her team respects her...you can tell people truly enjoy working there. Beth is in charge of the above mentioned AWESOME Kids Care. I'm so grateful that we have people we can trust taking care of our son. We entrusted them with our son at 6 weeks old and he has been going there ever since. The Kids Korner is secure, staffed accordingly to the number of children and nicely maintained. This gym is overall clean, well organized, family focused, spaced out (there are many different workout zones/areas so you're not cramped in one area on top of other members). This place has really gone down hill. I pay $67 a month for a gym that is only open till 9 on weekends and 11 on weekdays. Their new hours are terrible and guest passes have jumped from $7 dollars to $15 for one day. Pretty disappointed in the turn they've taken. read more

Great place to workout. Even at the busiest, I'm able to use the machines that I want. Great freeweight facility too. Place is clean and staff is helpful and friendly. Great lap pool as well as a fun pool to bring kids. Classes are excellent! Track and gym areas are great alternatives to working out on machines. Lots of workout machines. End the workout in the steam room. I haven't tried other things offered: tennis, rock climbing wall, day care, massage, and cafe. Only thing I wish they have is a dry sauna - everything else is excellent! read more
