The owners when I worked there, sold up and moved to Portugal, and the new owners didn't want me. It's changed hands quite a few times in the last twenty-eight years and is now owned by the same guy that owns the Village Inn (I think ). It's all been re-arranged downstairs and there is now a longer L-shaped bar with a pool table where the cellar used to be. There are six televisions of varying sizes around the pub. All the popular football games are shown, but, the place is mobbed when Rangers are playing. I wouldn't suggest going in and cheering a Celtic goal when there's an Old Firm Game on. This is the pub that Ally McCoist drank in with all his young pals when he was 18. The staff are all very good at serving and will even go and find you a bowl to give the dog a drink. Children are not allowed in, it doesn't do food, but you are allowed to take your dog in. Overall, quite a friendly pub. The staff don't really smile a lot, but they are happy to see you, (I think )

It is a two-minute walk from my Gran's and I would pass by it numerous times when up visiting her as a kid. As a curious child I used to wonder what it was like inside, since it was impossible to see into, but I recently went for only the second time since turning 18 and it didn't disappoint. The Calderwood is a fairly standard Scottish pub, but it has been spruced up since my last visit and has gone from what I as a kid envisaged as a dingy, grubby local into a classy pub/bar that could as well be in the centre of Glasgow, were it not for the fact that the patrons were predominantly local middle-aged men enjoying a drink with each other before they walked home . Flatscreen TVs line the walls, and as it was midweek match-night I enjoyed a pint of Tennent's to the football, meanwhile a pool table was constantly in use by the loud and merry locals. By chance two brothers whom my dad remembered from school came in and asked if the inn held functions, as unfortunately their dad had recently passed away, and were informed by the warm and friendly barwoman that the Calderwood certainly does do services upstairs, another pleasant surprise for me and another reminder that my previous impression of the inn was misguided. I was pleased to learn that my Grandpa's and dad's old local was not as I had always assumed: a dark and dingy pub inhabited by men afraid of sunlight, but an elegant pub/bar that I would happily frequent again and again.

Great local pub in the heart of East Kilbride's Village area. Set over 2 floors, downstairs has a…read moretraditional pub decor, whereas upstairs is more like a wine bar. I haven't sampled the food so can't comment on that, but for a good night out, it's hard to beat the Village Inn. At weekends there is always live music, which can vary in style and indeed quality, but there is always a good atmosphere and it's usually very busy. The pub is open till 1am at the weekend and unlike some other places nearby, they aren't desperate to take your drink from you two minutes after serving it at last orders. A true local community pub, they have special Christmas dinners for pensioners and a book swap. This places comes highly recommended.

When travelling round the country I've been to quite a few of these Table Table restaurants. With them all I've always been greeted With a combination of comfortable and homely surroundings, a decent menu selection, good service and tasty food which looks like the menu. The best kind of pub grub. Being a Tuesday night When we arrived, the service was impeccable, with no wait to be seated, no delay in taking drinks orders and fast efficient delivery of our food. Service even came with a warning that the middle of the chicken might be hot and to take care. Also, during the evening (after 6 I think) they run a specials menu which has the option of 2 courses for £9.99 or 3 courses for £11.99. The specials had a varied selection of food ranging from burgers and salads through to a delicious chicken and ham pie. This time I had the chicken goujons with a caramel glaze, which was just delicious, followed up with the fish and chips, and the tastiest apple crumble with custard I've tasted. The pasta dishes and banoffee sundae also comes recommended. The beer garden outside looks like it could be a nice place to sit when the weather gets better and the premier inn next door could come in handy if the reasonable drinks prices prove to be too much of a temptation for any drivers. The child who was with me had the small steak pie (it comes in two portion sizes) and the small definitely looked big enough. From the lack of conversation & fidgeting whilst he was eating I'd say that the steak pie was excellent too. All in all a nice fresh meal, in pleasant surroundings (the kind of place you could take your granny). Well worth a visit if you're near Eaglesham.

The woman who now runs C'MON INN (ex Kilbryde Arms) in Calderwood (Roslyn) her son (John) in goodwill took memorabilia from my company (a local business) to sell via the pub/shop and also run raffles. Reason was to get funds for the shop and also helps me clear some stock. The pub/shop did run raffles, bonus balls and also ask punters to buy this memorabilia. Sadly, the shop and the owners son haven't and also refused to pay for any of this. They have ripped off a local business man who was trying to help them out. 5 weeks now and still not paid for a single item. They now don't respond and by the looks of it have no intention to pay for these items. I would say to anyone dealing with this lot to beware of what they offer and what they promise.
