3.5 stars Quick and very friendly service in a cozy little space. Good coffee and traditional breakfast fare. No frills, just comfort food. Kids loved the smoothies. My smoked salmon toast was nice. Crumbles of salmon mixed in with scrambled eggs and piled high on a thick piece of toast. Tasty and filling. Paired well with a hot coffee. The full Scottish breakfast had it all. The Haggis and the Bacon were the stand out items on this plate. Beautifully fried egg laid out right on top. Just lovely. Can't understate how friendly the staff was. So nice and helpful. Very fast and attentive.

Amazing food and service! My family and I stayed 3 days in Edinburgh and we ate here twice. The staff was so nice and the service was really quick. Contemplating traveling back to Edinburgh just for this place! I got the Scottish breakfast, a vanilla ice latte, and a slice of carrot cake. My sister got the Scottish porridge and their Victorian sponge cake and said both were great.

This was my first trip to Scotland and my first time trying a Scottish breakfast. My waiter recommended I try everything first before explaining what Haggis and Black Pudding are, and after trying it, it wouldn't have mattered. It was all delicious and I went back the next day to have it again before leaving Edinburgh. This will always be my favorite restaurant in the city (other than the Witchery)

We came at an off time for a late lunch and It was exactly what we were looking for. I got a hot chocolate and a tuna wrap and it hit the spot! Perfect portions and super tasty. Also prices were very fair.

How fortunate that this place was literally across from our flat! We came here every day and if I lived here, I would be a regular. Service is exceptional and very friendly! I highly recommend starting your day at the Coffee Mill if you are staying in Old Town/Grass Market. Thank you!!! Salmon scramble was perfect, smoked salmon bagel outstanding and the sausage egg and cheese bagel was super filling - fuel for the day!!

Loved the atmosphere, food, and excellent service. We had the burger, eggs/toast, and veg panini - all stellar, served quickly, and with a smile.

Three of us started our day here recently with a delicious breakfast. My son had the Full Scottish, I had the Vegetarian, and my daughter had the Scrambled Eggs and Smoked Salmon. We all loved what we had! The portions were generous and we felt that the dishes were very reasonably priced. Plus, the service was great! Very friendly and welcoming place! We would definitely come back here the next time I am in town.

Good morning, Edinburgh!! It's day 4 of our trip and we are on our own to explore Edinburgh. We had tickets for the Castle at 9:30 and decided to yelp a place nearby for breakfast. The Coffee Mill came up with decent reviews, and they had the Scottish Breakfast, too! The menu had a little bit of everything, but since I knew we would be walking the Castle, I wanted a hearty breakfast and chose the English breakfast. Stephen chose the Scottish breakfast, which included blood pudding and haggis, which containing sheep's pluck (heart, liver and lungs) minced with onion, oatmeal, suet, spices, and salt, mixed with stock, traditionally encased in the animal's stomach though now often in an artificial casing instead. The breakfast was very filling, and they even accepted Apple Pay! Bellies full, we are off to visit the Edinburgh Castle

Pretty good breakfast place. I'll be honest i'm picky and nothing here really seemed appetizing for me but everyone in the group liked this place. I got the potato scone roll and it was good and simple.

Small restaurant great for breakfast. The service was great we got seats right away, and then the waiter took our drink orders immediately. When our drinks were ready we ordered our meals and they were out in about ten minutes. The hostess and the waiter were very friendly during our entire stay. I ordered the full Scottish Breakfast and everything was fine. It was my first time trying haggis and not knowing what to expect it tasted very good and was not too dry. The bacon and sausage was also good, nothing magical but tasty and juicy. Overall I would recommend the coffee mill to anyone looking for breakfast in Edinburgh.

Scotland's weather is basically all season daily. You never know what you'll get...lol... Of course the rain started and we happened to be right here. Just to get warm as well, this place seemed very cozy. Inside you feel the warm homey cottage feel. Fresh baked cakes, smell of coffee and tea. They also serve food as well. There's the main dining area along the entrance with the cakes on full display for everyone to see. A small room in the back as well as a loft and downstairs. Of course restrooms are downstairs. All the staff were amazing and very friendly. All so welcoming. The cakes were amazing and paired very well with a coffee or tea. I'm not sure if it's baked in house but the selections they offered, it was amazing. So many too chose from. It's not a crazy big place but the warm cozy feeling right when you walk in was amazing. Friendly smile and anything with fresh baked goods will bring people in.

I came pretty close to the opening and was able to select my choice for seats. I picked a table near the window for natural lighting. They have a table of a lot of tasty treats and while I didn't get a chance to try them all, I can attest to the scone being very tasty! I ordered the Cream Tea (I think I ordered the Lemon and Elderflower) which comes with a freshly baked homemade scone (I chose a fruit one), and a cup of tea €6.80. I decided to upgrade to a pot of tea (€7.75) and added a bowl of porridge (€5.50) with jam as I usually prefer savory breakfasts. This was more than enough to eat for one, but I just enjoy trying different items - does anyone else have this problem? lol I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here as the ambiance, food and tea were homey and intimate. This would be such a fun place to converse with girlfriends for tea time!

We had breakfast here on our first day in Edinburgh. It's cozy and the walls are covered with paintings, antique cups, and plates. To be honest the walls are quite chaotic but that's where the personality comes in. We ordered the eggs with toast and the full Scottish breakfast. Food was great, coffee hit the spot, and service was excellent. Even with the chaos they keep the place clean. Also, BEWARE they do not have hot sauce here LOL. I asked the server and she said "No, but it was worth a try to ask" Respect lol. We sat by the window and people watched and awed at the beautiful architecture of Edinburgh. It's a chill spot to rest and refuel. Would love to come back for their afternoon tea!
