Tiny cafe with a big heart, coffee was lovely, eggs and smoked salmon perfect/ nice friendly service too. Top spot for a inexpensive breakfast and lunch

Amazing food and service! My family and I stayed 3 days in Edinburgh and we ate here twice. The staff was so nice and the service was really quick. Contemplating traveling back to Edinburgh just for this place! I got the Scottish breakfast, a vanilla ice latte, and a slice of carrot cake. My sister got the Scottish porridge and their Victorian sponge cake and said both were great.

This was my first trip to Scotland and my first time trying a Scottish breakfast. My waiter recommended I try everything first before explaining what Haggis and Black Pudding are, and after trying it, it wouldn't have mattered. It was all delicious and I went back the next day to have it again before leaving Edinburgh. This will always be my favorite restaurant in the city (other than the Witchery)

We came at an off time for a late lunch and It was exactly what we were looking for. I got a hot chocolate and a tuna wrap and it hit the spot! Perfect portions and super tasty. Also prices were very fair.

How fortunate that this place was literally across from our flat! We came here every day and if I lived here, I would be a regular. Service is exceptional and very friendly! I highly recommend starting your day at the Coffee Mill if you are staying in Old Town/Grass Market. Thank you!!! Salmon scramble was perfect, smoked salmon bagel outstanding and the sausage egg and cheese bagel was super filling - fuel for the day!!

Loved the atmosphere, food, and excellent service. We had the burger, eggs/toast, and veg panini - all stellar, served quickly, and with a smile.

Three of us started our day here recently with a delicious breakfast. My son had the Full Scottish, I had the Vegetarian, and my daughter had the Scrambled Eggs and Smoked Salmon. We all loved what we had! The portions were generous and we felt that the dishes were very reasonably priced. Plus, the service was great! Very friendly and welcoming place! We would definitely come back here the next time I am in town.

Good morning, Edinburgh!! It's day 4 of our trip and we are on our own to explore Edinburgh. We had tickets for the Castle at 9:30 and decided to yelp a place nearby for breakfast. The Coffee Mill came up with decent reviews, and they had the Scottish Breakfast, too! The menu had a little bit of everything, but since I knew we would be walking the Castle, I wanted a hearty breakfast and chose the English breakfast. Stephen chose the Scottish breakfast, which included blood pudding and haggis, which containing sheep's pluck (heart, liver and lungs) minced with onion, oatmeal, suet, spices, and salt, mixed with stock, traditionally encased in the animal's stomach though now often in an artificial casing instead. The breakfast was very filling, and they even accepted Apple Pay! Bellies full, we are off to visit the Edinburgh Castle

Pretty good breakfast place. I'll be honest i'm picky and nothing here really seemed appetizing for me but everyone in the group liked this place. I got the potato scone roll and it was good and simple.

Prices reasonable for the area but not amazing Espresso was a bit oxidized and sour. Dont recommend Lasagna pretty good Smoked salmon scramble pretty good Reasonable seating space and good location Zero parking Overall worth the visit but I wouldn't rate it orgasmic 5 stars

Small restaurant great for breakfast. The service was great we got seats right away, and then the waiter took our drink orders immediately. When our drinks were ready we ordered our meals and they were out in about ten minutes. The hostess and the waiter were very friendly during our entire stay. I ordered the full Scottish Breakfast and everything was fine. It was my first time trying haggis and not knowing what to expect it tasted very good and was not too dry. The bacon and sausage was also good, nothing magical but tasty and juicy. Overall I would recommend the coffee mill to anyone looking for breakfast in Edinburgh.

Staff seem a tad harried at times, but they are kind and polite, and take the time to explain the menu if you want them to. FYI, there's a sign saying there's no laptops allowed. The menu switches at 12pm, but the Full Scottish Breakfast is on both. I tried it and it was fabulous. The "Luxury Hot Chocolate" was honestly kind of meh from a taste perspective. Felt like American powdered, sugary hot chocolate (as contrasted with European dark, hot chocolate). But the presentation was to die for. See photo. They seem known for their cake. I tried that on one visit, blueberry and lemon, and it was great. Moist, flavorful, and decadent. And not a massive portion, which I appreciate. Bathrooms: Basement level. Decently clean and functional. Medium spaciousness.

Not my favorite and I know it's tough to compare with avocado toast in California Maybe next time I'd try their blueberry pancakes? Or maybe try Scran which is next door?

I came pretty close to the opening and was able to select my choice for seats. I picked a table near the window for natural lighting. They have a table of a lot of tasty treats and while I didn't get a chance to try them all, I can attest to the scone being very tasty! I ordered the Cream Tea (I think I ordered the Lemon and Elderflower) which comes with a freshly baked homemade scone (I chose a fruit one), and a cup of tea €6.80. I decided to upgrade to a pot of tea (€7.75) and added a bowl of porridge (€5.50) with jam as I usually prefer savory breakfasts. This was more than enough to eat for one, but I just enjoy trying different items - does anyone else have this problem? lol I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here as the ambiance, food and tea were homey and intimate. This would be such a fun place to converse with girlfriends for tea time!

We had breakfast here on our first day in Edinburgh. It's cozy and the walls are covered with paintings, antique cups, and plates. To be honest the walls are quite chaotic but that's where the personality comes in. We ordered the eggs with toast and the full Scottish breakfast. Food was great, coffee hit the spot, and service was excellent. Even with the chaos they keep the place clean. Also, BEWARE they do not have hot sauce here LOL. I asked the server and she said "No, but it was worth a try to ask" Respect lol. We sat by the window and people watched and awed at the beautiful architecture of Edinburgh. It's a chill spot to rest and refuel. Would love to come back for their afternoon tea!
