I admitted my husband May 18th, 2023 for rehab following a stroke in car accident. My husband's…read morecare is terrible, with many health and safety violations. I complained the day he was admitted about 2 careless CPAs who hurt him. I reported to the state. My husband's right side is paralyzed, they twisted his arm behind him so many times they dislocated it! I have complained many times, but it just falls on deaf ears My husband's insurance (VA) was accepted here, and nowhere else in Gilmer, and I couldn't drive to Tyler I would move him.! He has received poor rehab from the Physical therapy people, who really don't have a care plan) they never schedule it, theyt walk into his room and say, "How do you feel today"? They then leave if he says OK, but can you come back in a little while, after pain pill. So then he goes without any treatment. This is ridiculous! At Everest in Longview a 3-week rehab hospital they had on the wall a whiteboard that had a schedule of what times and days he had a shower, speech therapy, occupational and physical therapy. This place is so unorganized and the people are so poorly trained it strikes me as being run like a kindergarten classroom! They don't care about men, as they have activities for only women, like "makeup day, fingernail painting, flowers, female arts and crafts as well as other activities that only an old lady might like, and so my husband sits in bed all day, which he has been told is not good for his recovery. I have been forced to quit my job (which now I have to beg borrow and get on free boxed food from the local food bank. This has almost ruined my health from the stress and bankrupted us. I have lost 20 pounds in 3 months from continuously being stressed out and having to change his bed, clean his room, make doctor visit appointments (they refused him any treatment from a decent doctor, the doctor there shows up once a month), and numerous other health and safety violations! One nurse who thankfully was fired harassed me in my husbands room and brought 2 large CNAs( why?) into his room with us and demanded I leave! Do you know why? Because I complained that he was not getting the care he should! She yelled at me for over a half hour! My poor husband was so stressed out, I was afraid he might have another stroke! Another incident occurred when I went in to see if he had a shower, only to find out he did not get one for the 7th day in a row! I found on his lower back a large patch of what looked like a rash and when I told the nurse Amanda she couldn't care any less, she was busy eating potato chips and on Facebook talking to her girlfriend, while her child was there? Isn't this illegal? Anyway, when I told her please this looks bad (I showed her a picture that I took on my phone) she grudgingly came to see him about 20 minutes later! By then I had gotten the tub to give him a bed bath and guess what? It came off with soap and water! It was dirt and feces! When I go to visit him daily, in the morning he is always soaking wet with pee, as he must wear an adult diaper and they rarely change him! I will go into his room and it smells like urine! His T-shirt is soaking wet in urine, along with his bed sheets. Sometimes if one of the good CNAs is on staff, they check him periodically. But the others don't. I jokingly say " I didn't know that I worked for free for this hospital as I clean his room, change him, bring him food, as the food is so high in sodium and they don't accommodate his low sodium diet. She also on another day was asked by me to please clean his wound. She ignored it and told me I will later. I had to leave and go home to take care of some business. The next day when I came, it was still dirty, crusted over, and needing immediate attention. When I asked if she cleaned it yet, she said no. I said then give me the antiseptic wash and I will. She finally came into his room and began tugging at his open wound, making it bleed! My poor darling husband was wincing in pain and said "Ouch that hurts"! So she finally stopped and said "I'll put ointment on it instead. I cannot understand why they don't fire her! This is the worst place, a HELL HOLE! I have put in complaints to the state, and the VA, and I have contacted Ken Paxton and Ted Cruz to help, as one of the most important issues I am facing right now is they are going to send him home without doing the paperwork to get him a hospital bed, and other needed necessities from the Veterans dept. by filling out a HISA grant. Guess what? The lousy social worker told me that she doesn't do that, that's my problem! I cannot, as only the doctor and social worker must file. I have contacted everyone I can think of, next is the channel 2 news! Please, don't send your loved one there for THEIR sake! If this sounds like a fake deal, then contact me, at tidbit1210@gmail.com. I will assure you this is happening and is the worst place to take your family!
