Used this service for two years. Recently canceled because the service doubled in price. They provide a 5 gallon bucket and lid. They pick up the compost and give you a new compostable bag once a week. Occasionally they would skip pick up because of the weather or something else. That was the biggest annoyance; trying to figure out what to do with the next weeks compost when the bucket was full. When they doubled the price we decided to cancel and compost on our own, especially since we learned there are free compost drop offs in our area. They make money off the compost customers provide, so we couldn't help but wonder if the price increase even necessary. read more

While the compost exchange provides an essential service, encouraging a greener future to us all, their association with unsavory efforts (such as Mid-Ohio Workers Association) leaves much go be desired. While I can understand it is difficult to tell the difference between real efforts for change and efforts that are all talk and no walk, some places they work with are a pure nuisance to society, causing more harm than good. I would ask them to do their homework and research organization that say they are for the working poor and fighting climate change. read more
