This place was recommended to us by the guy who ran the caravan site we where staying at nearby, he did warn us not to have a starter though as he said we wouldn't eat the main course, and how right he was. I opted for the 32oz steak and yes it did beat me, the chips (which I don't normally have) where home made as where the onion rings. My partner's steak and ale pie was also excellent and I couldn't complain about value for money. we enjoyed it that much we returned on the Sunday before heading home again. The Beef salad my Partner had was excellent not just a slice of beef and cloth lettuce, but a few good thick tender slices of beef with a salad complimented with allsorts including melon and all the trimmings as was the duck I had. We will look forward to visiting here again.

They serve John Smiths and Tetley bitters on cask which they keep quite well. For my lunch I had the mixed meat Sunday dinner. The portions were huge but yet again it was three quarters veg. The beef was not in slices but rather in bits like I had the scrapings off the bottom of the tin. The chicken and pork were also very dry as if they had been kept hot for a long time. I was very surprised to find battered asparagus and battered parsnip on my plate and quite frankly never want to see them again. My friends had Gammon, Steak and Ale pie and Chilli. I envied their choices as they looked much fresher and vibrant then mine. I feel that the quality of my food suffered as I had ordered something of which they would have prepared lots of portions of whereas my friends were cooked as they ordered. Next time I go I am going to try their 32oz steak which they knock out for just under £20. However I definitely would not eat Sunday Roast here again and would not recommend it to anyone. At £31 for four meals I found it reasonable.

Over a 100 plus Belgian beers on offers as well as National award winning ciders and perrys. They are trying to get the kitchens up and running again which can only be a good thing. The only slight down side of this place is that to enter you have to walk the gauntlet of the filthy smokers who gather outside the only door and spread their smog. They should be encouraged by the staff not to stand at the door

A pretty traditional British pub, the Tow Bar serves the usual array of pub drinks at a fairly reasonable price. As well as the inside of the pub itself, there's a large conservatory overlooking the beer garden, which has plenty of seating, a covered area for smokers to stay dry, and a fab wooden play area with climbing frame, bridge, swings and slides to keep the kids amused. As for food, there isn't a massive selection of food, but there'll be something for most people to enjoy, and on the whole it's really tasty. I had the homemade lasagne on my last visit and it was great. Main courses are around the £7 mark. Of course there's also a kids menu with the usual suspects like chicken nuggets, fish fingers and burgers. The service is really friendly and the atmos is good. There are lots of entertainment nights on, including karaoke, cabaret acts and bands, alas we didn't stay long enough to experience any of those. If we holiday in Cayton Bay again (which we most probably will) we'll definitely return

It was obvious they had been cooked the day before and dropped in fat to reheat. Haddock goujons in a Tempura batter with Home-style chips is fish and chips no matter what you do to it. The fish was nice but the batter was too thick. On another visit I had a steak and onion sandwich which was nice except for the gristle. The prices are reasonable and the place is very tidy and clean. Nice place to eat in the Sun and take in the views.

The menu is manily based upon seasonal, local produce, and so will change as the seasons and availabilty changes. I believe the menu actually rotates once per month, which is an achievement itself in the days of mass produced food. Its not your standard restaurant, and probably isnt suitable for children, but if you like venison, game such as pheasant, rabbit and so on, then its well worth your time. Both lunch menus and evening menus are available, and the food is very reasonably priced. Peppers also caters for parties and group bookings and will offer menus to accomodate larger parties. eating here helped my firm secure a big contract once as the clients were very impressed with the food.the food itself is superlative, the drinks accompany the meals well, and the service is pretty much spot on. I cant recommend this place highly enough. Not an everyday kind of place, but certainly a place to visit at least once if you're in the area

If you are after Juke Boxes, slot machines and the other trappings of modern pubs give this a miss, if you are after visiting the Scarborough area try and find this one you shouldn't be disappointed after all they way the pub trade is going at the moment it may not be here for many more years. Walking into the mill inn is like walking back in time to the 1970's! When you order a drink the bar man Disappears down stairs to his underground cellar to fetch it. Only open on certain days and I've you go you will be talking about it for day's after. Love it

My girlfriend had steak and ale pie which was also gorgeous. Proper homemade pie if its pie you like this is the place to go! We also managed to squeeze in room for puddding which were lovely aswell. Also plenty of room for children to play in the garden with nice views and lovely flowers in the borders. We really liked it and will definitely be going back to try the rest of the menu!
