Built in 1910, it is a classic of Edwardian design, with a richly decorated baroque and Adams-style interior. It is a Grade II listed historic building. It's also one of the largest venues in London, seating 1,700 in a broad auditorium. Taken over by the Ambassador Theatre Group in 2003, it is slowly being restored to its original condition. The theatre presents a varied repertoire, focusing on popular productions, including musicals, opera, comedy, special events and music performances. In recent years, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra has had a season at Wimbledon, which has proved extremely popular (the acoustics are well suited to a full-sized orchestra). A speciality is performances designed for the whole family, such as tours from the Moscow State Circus, culminating in one of London's best pantomime seasons throughout December and January. We saw a stunning pro-am performance of 'La Cage aux Folles' there a few years ago, which beat the film versions hands down. The theatre has very good provision for those with disabilities - contact the box office in advance for details. Guide dogs are welcome and the theatre provides state-of-the-art infra-red listening systems. Although parking nearby is a little limited, patrons can use the Centrecourt Shopping Centre Car Park at a reduced rate (inform the box office to validate your ticket). Public transport provision is excellent, as the theatre is adjacent to the bus station, and just five minutes from Wimbledon station, for National Rail, underground and Croydon Tramlink.

The venue is small and intimate so prepare to feel part of the performance if you sit in the front row. Yes, I sat in the front row! A fact that made for some hair raising moments during the many sword battles. The reception area sports a little bar for refreshments at prices you won't find just one postcode over and the whole vibe is warm and friendly. The play was Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and the players were from the Tower Theatre Company who boast an 80 year history of putting on shows; quite a pedigree! So the show? I will admit there was a slightly shaky start but it didn't last long and this company soon found it's stride and I was hooked! I genuinely hadn't expected such epic sword choreography but it all felt scarily real. At one point Romeo dropped his dagger near my foot and it was all I could do to stop myself from kicking it over to him to assist. My stand out performances and scene stealing moments would have to be: 1. The scenes with Adam Lake (Romeo) Joe Lewis (Benvolio) and the very physical performance of Ario Green (Mercutio) perfectly depict one of theatres first bromances and gave me my favourite moments. I had forgotten how many laughs there were in this Shakespearean tragedy. 2. Watch out for Peter Novis (The Apothecary) who, despite his ever so brief stint on stage, possibly got the biggest laugh of the night with his little box of tricks. 3. My little moment of childish glee came from Tom Salyers (Friar Laurence) and his slight of hand as he picked imaginary flowers that miraculously appeared. In essence it didn't have the slickness or budget of a West End show but it did have something that money can't buy; Charm and passion. Two ingredients that, in my opinion, make for a more enjoyable and watchable performance. None of these actors seemed entitled or phoned it in. Go see it! If you can't catch it at this venue (and have better finances that I) why not try to see it during it's Paris run in June. Failing this then just keep an eye out for future shows by the company and at the venue and show your support when you can. You won't regret it! Worth every penny and cheap at the price of £12.

In the case…read moreof this venue, I can easily say that this in one of the most unique and creative spaces of small theatre. I saw a show which used every aspect of the space, from the wide open, yet intimate room, to the two large back doors at the back of the room. It was transformed easily into an old jail, a cozy home, an outdoor patio, to even a circus. If you have a creative team, they will make good use of this venue. Add to that the small, but well stocked concession stand at the entrance, you have everything you need for a nice night out. Supporting your local neighbourhood and artists doesn't get easier!

I had a seat in the Dress Circle row A at the end of the row and it was cozy... if you're tall it might be a bit tight but that is the joy of this theater... worth experiencing! I was in awe of all the features and interior, it made the full experience spectacular and the acoustics were top top notch. I did manage to get a glass of wine at intermission before the lines got busy so I didn't have issues there but I could see how this might be challenging for other guests.

It's just such a shame the piano music doesn't come on from a little earlier, as this is the real appeal of this place, and the atmosphere only really comes alive once he starts playing. I'm assuming they have to wait for any performances to end. I was here from about 5.30pm, and whilst there was some (fairly quiet) background music on, there was a corporate event downstairs, so the music was off for a large part of the evening. I hadn't realised that the piano man wasn't on until late, so whilst there were a small number of my party left to enjoy it, most people had meandered off home by that point. It's a really nice place, I would just plan to end your work drinks here, rather than start them, as it's fairly 'plain' here without the performer.

What sets this place apart from every other bar I have ever been to is the clientelle. Note the time the live music starts.... 11pm. The bar here is almost entirely inhabited by performers that have just finished a show in the West End. If you don't sing for a living or earn your crust on stage you are the exception. The live music is almost invariably a grand piano and a singer or singers. Normally I would rather pierce my ear drums with pencils than suffer a karaoke night, here when the patrons decide to sing, you are in for something truly spectacular. The repetoire is generally much loved classic numbers from the last thirty years and show tunes and the standard is very high. It gets very busy after midnight and there's a reason for that. The atmosphere is friendly and the live music is great.

The response from the Peacock Thearte was 'we are sorry but there is nothing we can do'. ADVCE: Other than stop companies like Theatre Tickets Direct selling tickets to your shows might be something you could consider? Whilst we are going to watch the show, we will never attend the Peacock Thearte again. It is rather ironic that the Theartes here in London have been pleading for Government funding to help them survive the pandemic, and then allow companies like Theatre Tickets Direct sell their shows and treat consumers unfairly in their name. HERE BELOW IS OUR THEARTE TICKETS DIRECT REVIEW ON GOOGLE AND TRUSTPILOT BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY AND BEFORE YOU EVEN CONSIDER USING THEM CHECK THEIR ONE STAR REVIEWS. So, my Wife tried to book two tickets for Saturday Night Fever at the Peacock Thearte for the performance on the evening of the 20 February 2022. Upon visiting their site she notice a block of three front row seats available so she proceeded to book two of the three seats available. She booked one of the two seats but when she tried to book the seat next to the one she had booked she found that system was not letting her do so. Frustrated with this she when out of the booking system and refreshed her browser. Upon going back into the booking system she clicked on the first seat she had booked it and was not showing as available any longer. She then thought well that seat has now gone and successfully booked the other two remaining seats. She went to the secure checkout and paid for the tickets. Within minutes of making the booking she received notification from her bank that Thearte Tickets Direct had debited the cost of all three tickets from her account. She immediately emailed Thearte Tickets Direct advising them of the error within tens minutes of receiving the notification of debit from her bank. She received a very abrupt email the next day from a Nandeep Vyas advising that it was now 'impossible' to issue a refund for the third ticket even though it was probably a glitch in their booking system. We have perused the one star reviews here and would tend to agree with the consensus of opinion expressed therein that the customer service is appalling and that they are potentially scamming consumers. We are consumer lawyers and we will not let this matter rest. We fully intend to drag the matter through the Small Claims Court for a princely sum of £35 to issue on these people, and have them explain their T&Cs to the court is well worth it, and we will publish the outcome here, win or lose. We have also written to the Chief Executive of the Peacock Theatre outlining our dissapointment in the way in which this company represent the theatres who allow them to sell tickets for their shows on their behalf.

A very centrally located and super comfortable theatre. It feels more like a plush cinema hall than…read morethe regular London theatres (live productions) Comfortable seats, with good cushioning and gasp! Plenty of leg room! We were down in the stalls and there are no pillars or other such construction in the middle of the hall, so none of the seats were "restricted view" I'd bought discounted tickets on Time Out and that is always a risk, since you do not know until you've picked up your tickets in the day of the show, what seats are going to be allocated to you. But at the Peacock, that risk is minimised - due to the afore mentioned absence of "restricted view" seats. Temperatures were comfortable throughout. There were cafeterias on both floors (stalls and circle), but we had just had dinner before the show, so we didn't brave the crowds milling around to check it out. They do have a lift for the disabled to use, so access is not an issue, even though the elevator is very slow. I'm not 100% sure about this, but I think they have some kind of tie-up with Sadler Wells as they seem to have a lot of their shows coming up.

It's actually a really cool music venue, with a big bar area at the front, which opens out at the back into a performance area with a stage and plenty of room for lots of people to get a good view. The acoustics were great too. But - and perhaps this is me just showing my age here - the headline band not coming on until 12.15am was a tad too late in my (square) opinion, especially when the clocks went forward an hour, which meant they didn't finish until about 2.30am! But a decent enough spot, and I'd definitely be interested in going to some more gigs there in the future.

You had to have ticket to get in, and there where around eight pounds. If you've got a ticket you're sorted! Its right near the bus stop, and I would definitely venture here again.

For most gigs I have no idea who is doing the sound, but it's either muffled to the point you can hear any words, or overly loud, in which case you feel the person in the booth is either deaf, bad at their job, or just has access to really poor equipment. It is capable of sounding good. One gig by Glasvegas was perfect. Sound was balanced, not too loud, and I understood every word (despite the accents!) so they really just need to pull their finger out for the majority of other acts, regardless of who supplies equipment. The venue is a little dank inside and when it's packed can get quite rowdy. So as long as you're not wearing anything particularly nice, you'll be fine.

I went to The Garage twice in one week - first to see Abney Park (a steampunk band who don't often…read moreperform in the UK) and then to see the Cruxshadows (a darkwave band from America, along with several other really great bands - Among the Echoes and Bad Pollyanna). The sound was ok, a little bit dodgy to start with but certainly improved as the night went on. It's a small venue with a bar, stage and very small seating area (near the bar). I think it's the perfect size for bands - intimate enough to get close to the band but big enough that you can dance around and lose yourself in the small crowd. The prices at the bar are quite expensive in my opinion: I took 20 quid on the first night and that was just enough to buy two beers and two shots of spirits for me and my friend. Thankfully there's a Barclay's cashpoint just around the corner. Even when it's quite busy though, you never have to wait for too long to get a refreshment. There's a cloakroom that charges £2 per item so we combined our jackets to make it one item (shh! Don't tell anyone!). They section off a bit of pavement outside as a smoking area which I know can get a bit crowded on busy nights. I can't comment on the men's toilets (although I have been in them once, apparently...I don't remember much of that night!!) but the women's loos aren't up to much. There's at least two that leak so you either hope to get one of the unflooded ones or play a puddle dodging game before you sit down! As the other reviews have said, it's close to the Tube station so it's easy to get to. Or if you're a bus-sort-of-person then there's some bus stops just around the corner. Overall, compared to other 'alternative' bars I've been too, this is one of the nicer ones. Brilliant for bands with very reasonable ticket prices.

I have attended a great number of gigs here and really enjoy it, although the bar is very small is is sufficient enough when attending a gig. There is quite a dark décor which works quite well as more often than not Scream Lounge is home to the alternative, rock and metal scenes. It's perfect for bands to rehearse and play at and a great place to bring everybody together.
