My friend and I were led to…read morebelieve we would be sharing a room w/one bed and we would have a bathroom to share for the two of us. Turned out to be 3 bedrooms, no doors, 7 people sharing one bathroom for a 2-day event and all needing to be in class at 9am! In fact, 2 of the 3 "bedrooms" had to walk through the other bedrooms to get to the bathroom. When we complained this was not as described via phone and already paid for, Robin stated she was sorry there was a 30-day cancellation policy, she absolutely refused to refund any money to anyone that asked, not even 50%. We were two of at least five people that we KNOW of who left and found other accommodations, driving back and forth the Saturday and Sunday for the event. It was a good thing it did not rain as we had to bring our own food and eat outside (nearest restaurants were 7mi. away in Round Top, TX). The workshop was in the church on the Shelby Inn property and the rules were very strict as to what we could bring inside the church. There was a 2-holer bathroom in another building for 60 people. 10min. breaks were impossible to maintain. Port-o-potties were definitely needed. While the grounds were beautiful, they in no way made up for the harshness and rudeness of the the owner. Neither myself, my friend and a new friend would ever stay here. Seriously, there are world-class resorts that have a 24-48hr. cancellation policy and work better with you than Robin K. After this experience, it comes as no surprise to have heard Robin's concerns over how long she will be able to stay in business. This venue needs a major overhaul in customer service.

There is enough room on the sides for two rows of tables. They place looks like it can be used for all kinds of events. There were three taps in the front to serve beer from. The kitchen is large and that is where the buffet line was. They do allow outside catering as that is what was present at the wedding. Parking is easy on the gravel/grass and there is room for many cars. There is also a covered outdoor area, but it wasn't used for this event.

I was with two other gal pals and we were attending a holiday bash at our friends' family ranch three miles away; we didn't want to drive all the way back to Houston after drinking, so we booked our one-night stay at Night Bird Ranch. It's off the beaten path from the small town of Ledbetter, but that makes for a quiet and private retreat. We booked the Lonesome Dove and Hidalgo rooms; rooms were clean - recently renovated with plenty of towels, blankets, pillows, and a space heater for those extra chilly nights. We had two rooms with two twin beds - beds were firm. Bedding was comfortable. Soaps and shampoo/conditioner was provided, but it's the kids kind, so if you like your fancy products, pack your own. Kiki and her family live on the 70-acre property; she is a friendly host and we felt welcomed during our stay. Upon arrival, she gave us a tour and even let us assist with feeding the animals the morning we left. She also gave me a cash refund because they had a special discount rate for the night and honored that for me - without me even asking about it. Real hospitality! There's a dance hall/dining hall where Kiki provides wine, coffee, tea and snacks. Our stay included a hot breakfast, and it was fantastic! Fresh biscuits, eggs, sausage gravy, sausage links (and of course, cereal for the kiddies). Onsite there's a lake, acres of exploring, campfire station, and animals: three horses, 2 lambs, and a miniature donkey - and don't forget about Elvis the ranch dog! Love that Kiki and her family are animal lovers. Keep in mind though, outside dogs from guests are not allowed because of the many farm animals. My girlfriends and I fully enjoyed our stay and want to return with a group to have a little ranch life fun. I highly rec this for small groups, retreats, families (kids will love) and even those looking for a space to host an event, like a quaint country wedding or family gathering.

After dinner we sat on the porch and listened to the country sounds while Garth sat at our feet. The room was fantastic. Just the right size for us, furnished simply but with care to the details. We left before breakfast, but heated up some of our leftovers from dinner, in the dining hall, to eat on the road. We loved our stay at Night Bird Ranch and plan to come back again, to get away from it all.
