Unfortunately she fell ill shortly after moving in and has been in the hospital ever since. We now have to move her again to a memory care facility. During this difficult and stressful time the team at Chartwell Harwood have been so amazing. Brandy, the manager, and her team have gone above and beyond to offer me help, guidance and a shoulder to cry on. If it hadn't been for them I don't think I would have been able to navigate the twists and turns that have confronted me this week. It is a shame my mum couldn't live here. The place is warm, comforting and actually a lot of fun. I truly wish my mom was well enough to stay here. I have no doubt she would have loved the fabulous apartment with tons of natural light and the easy access to restaurants, shopping and a Costco!! If and when I choose a place for myself I would seriously consider Chartwell Harwood.

Great choices on the menu such as Pesto Shrimp Linguine, Rose Penne, Miso Maple-glazed Salmon, Braised beef Short Rib, Canadian Strip Loin Steak. I opted for the fork-tender Chicken Marsala, a crisp Caesar salad, yummy carrot cake with whipped cream, fresh assorted berries with a top drizzle of caramel sauce for the cake, a side of vanilla ice cream, then Earl Grey tea. A wine menu is available. Servers were prompt, polite, helpful and enthusiastic. There are weekly specials as well. Met Executive Chef, "Josh" at the end of my wonderful meal and had to compliment him and his staff on an exceptional lunch on a cold but sunny winter's day. Just outstanding in my view!!!!! Last year, we moved my mom into Harmony Hill. After an extensive leak in my mom's apartment…read moreceiling, they had to move her to a temporary unit while they did extensive repairs to the apartment to fix the leak and the subsequent damage. After months of construction and renovations to repair the leak and the subsequent damage, we were thrilled to hear that they were ready for my mom to move back into her original unit. However, after surveying the unit prior to moving my mom back in, we were appalled at the state of the unit as everything was covered in drywall dust. Everything - her shoes and jackets in her closet, her clothing, her kitchen appliances, her bedding, etc. drywall dust was everywhere! When we brought our concerns up to management, we were told that in their opinion, the unit was in an acceptable state for my mom to move back in. They also told us she is no longer welcome or able to stay in the temporary unit, that they had moved her into while the construction and renovations were underway, now that they feel her apartment is in acceptable condition to move back into. Shame on you Harmony Hill Retirement Community. Our seniors deserve better.

The staff are…read moreincredibly helpful and friendly, the place is beautifully decorated and the suites are just lovely, the food is excellent and fresh (including a daily salad bar), there is a lot of activities (its like a cruise ship :) and there is music several times a week, including singers/groups from "outside". I can't say enough good things about this place, how effectively it is managed by Adrienne West and her team, how beautifully decorated . . . and how I'm treated like family although I'm the "daughter". The care team was excellent and supported my mom well past the time other places might have suggested she go into a nursing home with her Alzheimers. And to add to that - I live in California and they were constantly in touch with me to keep me in touch with anything and everything going on with my mom, far beyond their responsibility as a retirement home - because its NOT a nursing home. I hope when the time comes for me - I find a place as spectacular as this, where as nice as it is . .. . the friendliness and genuine caring of the staff surpasses everything else.
