There were a couple rips in the material, the taping on the seams between sheets zigzagged; and this is on the factory cut edge that's perfectly straight. They used the spray foam to adhere the tarp to the cinderblocks. Some spots have huge spray foam globs that sank and pushed the material out creating air gaps. The only way that can happen is there is a critical shortage of fasteners holding the material up, I've seen less than 10 on the whole job so far. There are spots where the spray foam looks like melted cheese, its disgusting. The entire area has a layer of dirt and hundreds of spray foam turds along the walls. The two 'doors' they put on for $1000 were 2x4 and pvc board with 2 screws, absolutely unacceptable. When I called to talk to the crew they said they had swept out the area, I laughed and hung up on those liars. There is numerous work material trash left under there including a 2 tank spray foam setup. They also spray foamed 2 interior walls that were not part of the work plan and didn't need it. I had the supervisor come out to take a look and he pointed out more things wrong and said this needed to get made right. Guess someone forgot to write something down because when the next crew came to make repairs, they didn't have the materials they needed cause it wasn't written on the work service order thing. It's a month later and I still haven't received any before or after photos from them of their work but boy am I glad I went down there and took my own. I know it can be grueling work, but for something that is supposed to bring peace of mind about your home, this has been a nightmare. If you need go with anyone else

It would look good for a bit, then fail again, and we realized we were basically putting a bandaid on a bigger problem. We finally decided to stop chasing it and do full waterproofing with Michigan Basements. They installed an interior drainage system tied into a new sump pump, and finished it off with a vapor barrier on the walls. From the first visit through the install, the team was professional, clear about what they were doing, and didn't oversell anything. The work was done cleanly and efficiently, and you can tell they take pride in doing it the right way. I also purposely waited to post this until we had real storms and heavy rain so I could honestly say the system works. We've now been through multiple downpours and the basement has stayed dry. In May of this year I had to have more work done that I wasn't aware of because the leaks only occurred during really heavy rains. This time Dean came out and did a great job. 22 tie rod leaks and 2 cracks were repaired. Update to Complaint/Review HomeSpec Waterproofing and…read moreFoundation Repair I am writing to provide an update regarding my experience with HomeSpec Waterproofing. In 2024 I entered into a contract (which I paid cash for) with HomeSpec to have my basement waterproofed and a sump pump installed. Over the following two years my basement continued to take on water after heavy rainfalls. After multiple visits that yeilded no answers and a periood where communication stalled, I posted a negative review to express my frustration. Shortly after posting, HomeSpec reached out and sent a team back to my home. Thats when management representative Brian stepped in and took full accountability for finding the root cause. He used a practical methods to track the water flow, he placed paper towels around the perimeter to pinpoint the entry point and found it. After the next rain he had his crew to remove the drywall and insulation to expose the hidden leak. Once the leak was identified, the crew repaired the issue. As of 9/2/2026, HomeSpec has restored my basement by installing new insulation, putting up and painting new drywall as replacing my electrical fixtures in the area where there was water damage. While the overall process took a long time and required significant peristance to reach a solution, I want to extend my sincere appreciation to Brian for his professionalism, determination to making things right, Hopefully the issue is now resolved, and I will be monitoring the basement during upcoming rainfalls to ensure the fix remains permanent.
