I always wanted to learn to sew but felt, like many others, intimidated. The thought of sewing and making my own garments bought great feelings of excitement, but to my disappointment It was followed by this sense of disappointment and fear . Being eager and determined to learn something new and exciting I began my search of the internet for a possibility, or opportunity that maybe one day I would be able sit at a sewing machine and actually create something special, and feel accomplished! That being said, they say " search and you will find" and I did just that, . I wasn't gonna let this feeling of intimidation and fear hold me back! When I was young, I loved learning to sew. But as life unfolded--marriage, family, work, and responsibilities--my creative passions were pushed aside. Recently, I made the conscious decision to reconnect with that part of myself, the part I thought was lost. So, I took several classes at The Creative Sewing Studio, and I've cherished every moment. I've been attending classes at Creative Sewing Studio for some time now, and it's truly been a wonderful experience. Mikala and the team at the Creative Sewing Studio have been an absolute pleasure to learn from. As someone that was very nervous to sew in front of others in a class with no knowledge I was made to feel at ease immediately, with a lot of laughs and good times to follow. During Sewing 100 I finally learned to understand my sewing machine, along with countless other fabulous tips and tutorials. By the end of class I had made two fabulous projects and I had the courage to sew on my own at home. Currently I am a student in the Sewing 101 course, In which I will build on the skills I have already developed, learn entirely new skills, and create a more challenging project than the ones made in Sewing 100. Creative Sewing Studio is a GREAT find if your looking to learn a hobby. It offers a treasure trove of fun, do-it-yourself workshop classes wherein there's "something for everyone" . If you're looking to learn how to sew/make clothing or anything made of fabric OR if you want to learn how to made something else from their craft classes, this studio has an eclectic range of choices. The classes are small; however, it's an ideal setting in that you are getting a more personalized, one-on-one learning experience. Also, from all the different types of classes I had attended, I experienced they are conducted by skilled & patient professionals. Above all, I ALWAYS walked away with something really nice and so proud that I made (& in such a short amount of time). I love Mikala and The Creative Sewing Studio! I've taken SO many classes here and every time I look forward to walking into the studio. It's become one of my "happy places" for so many reasons. For one, I have discovered a passion for sewing through classes with Mikala! I started a few years ago and got hooked immediately. She makes it so easy and fun to learn and encourages us to take on projects on our own. She always makes sure to spend time with each student during every class and helps them with whatever stage they're at in the process. She's also available after class over email if you have ANY questions at all. And she's always open to students' suggestions on other classes she should offer. Honestly, her studio is one of my favorite places. The environment is friendly and welcoming so that all the students interact and share stories and their projects with one another. Fantastic place to learn sewing. Mikala is a great teacher. She keeps the classes at a reasonable size so she can give everyone the attention they need. Thanks to Mikala, I am no longer intimidated by a sewing machine. I wasn't even at the level of novice when it came to sewing--I was more of a sewing/crafting trainwreck. What a difference some classes with a relaxed and enthusiastic teacher makes! By the end of my first group of classes, I had made a pillow cover and a bag. By the end of my second round of classes, I had made a purse. It is so much fun, and Mikala breaks it down for you so you won't get overwhelmed. It was a fun thing to look forward to each week--everyone in the class had fun together and it was so rewarding to make things that we can use every day! Mikala and the staff at her studio are truly amazing! The environment Mikala creates in her studio is friendly and engaging. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience and makes learning how to sew truly enjoyable! They also offer some fun art/craft classes - everything from glass etching to sign painting and more. Mikala keeps class sizes small so that everyone gets individual help as needed. I've recently taken the Fabric Bowls and trivets class and had a blast! The studio is set up in a way to keep up social distance but still able to interact with the other students. Everyone (students & instructor) wears masks - if you don't have one you can purchase one at the studio! I felt very comfortable in the studio - already signed up for 2 more classes! My sister-in-law talked me into taking a sewing class with Mikala that she found on groupons. I hadn't touched a sewing machine in over twenty years and I did not know what to expect. I had nothing to worry about, Mikala was wonderful. She walked us through everything, stopping to answer all questions and to make sure we all understood what she was explaining. By our second week we had made throw pillows that looked like we purchased them in a store. Our 2nd project was a tote bag and I have been hooked every since. By the 3rd week I had purchased my own sewing machine and I am currently in the process of setting up my own sewing room. I look forward to continuing my sewing education with Mikala. I started as a total beginner - having never touched a sewing machine- with Mikala's sewing 101 class. By the end, I had created a pillow cover and tote bag, and I had caught the sewing bug! Now I have just completed her 102 class and quilting class. I have learned so much from my time with Mikala, and I am looking forward to an upcoming clothing construction and sewing 103 class. Mikala is incredibly encouraging, clear, organized, and so easy to understand. I took her Sewing 101 in April 2015. It took me months to look at sewing classes/reviews and finally I chose Mikala. I chose this place because of the good reviews despite the fact it was a 45 minute commute from my house. It was SO worth the drive. I cannot praise this woman enough! Mikala is a wonderful instructor. She is kind & patient. I am a slow learner and feared I would never make it through a class as an adult. The fact that I successfully complete two projects is a testament to her. I understood everything clearly. Students are encouraged to make mistakes so we can learn (and of course I did make some!) I recently decided to get back into sewing after 30 years away from the machine. I had bought a new machine and was overwhelmed wit how to use it and what to begin sewing. I signed up for the Sewing 101 with Mikala and was immediately impressed with her teaching expertise. She put the class at ease and provided an environment conducive to learning. She is so talented and a great teacher. She doesn't rush and is able to explain things at a level everyone can understand. Her studio is so nice with so many items displayed that she has sewn. I have taken multiple sewing classes at the Creative Sewing Studio and I would and will recommend to anyone who wants to learn to sew or sew better... The classes suit someone who has never looked at a sewing machine, to someone who used to sew in Home Ec in high school, to someone who used to sew years ago and just needs a refresher. The classes are the perfect size to have group lessons, but people are still able to get the individual attention they may need. Fantastic classes, Wonderful teacher. I have taken a few classes at the Creative Sewing Studio - both art and sewing, and can't say enough wonderful things. I just finished Sewing 101 - Mikala is patient and fun! It had been a while since I've sewn following a pattern. Mikala is helpful and shares tips and tricks of the trade all along as well as the basic 'how-to's'. There's no stress, lots of laughs and you leave with a wonderful project. A couple of years ago I took a "funky felted mittens" class - I'm still making mittens today! I've kept some, given some as gifts, everyone loves them! I am currently taking a beginner sewing class with Mikala Cash and it is fun and refreshing! I've had a little experience with sewing prior to this class, but Mikala gave me the confidence to really dabble into what I've wanted to for so long. Attended the intro to crochet class. Instruction was clear, fun, and I really learned the basics of how to crochet. I've finished the project begun in class and have moved on to making myself a simple wrap. I've got the skills now to use basic stitches, the how of starting, of counting stitches, and I've embraced mistakes as learning, too, due to Heather's teaching outlook. Learning a new hobby and skill has now become fun and having someone provide feedback and detailed instruction made all the difference. The studio space is open yet cozy at the same time. I love the adult classes at The Creative Sewing Studio!! My main interest is sewing but I have also enjoyed taking some of the creative workshops over the years as well! Anyone with an interest in sewing will appreciate the classes here! The basics are taught in the Sewing 100 class. This is a great refresher for those of us who have had a few decades pass since our Home Economics class in school. The classes are always changing and there's always something new for those of us who have been going to classes for a few years!!
