    Smothered Chicken Burrito
    Julia S.

Great food! I had the smothered chicken burrito with queso. It was amazing! I usually try to only eat half of my entree and take the rest home... this was so delicious, I needed to desperately ask my waitress for a box before I devoured the who thing

Kid friendly with awesome kid cups.

Friendly service. Clean. Good food. Good portions. Small town charm. We ate there twice (once for supper and then again for breakfast the next morning) while in town for one night. We enjoyed both visits. Our grand left his pig cup. Upon our realization, we went back to get it. The waitress remembered that it had been thrown away and retrieved it from the trash and washed it before returning it to us. Good folks.

There weren't many choices for food in Fort Sumner, so we ended up here. The menu was huge and the service was great. The food was good, but not great. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing was just spectacular, except I really enjoyed the pancakes. I got a latte and the espresso was very strong and flavorful. The restaurant was clean and prices fair. Would definitely return if passing through!

    Cherry lime!

Stopped on our way through town! We got breakfast burritos and they were huge and delicious, freshly made! We also got cherry lime's and they make them traditional style. I caught myself saying "this is the best cherry lime of my life!" All over lovely experience!! Will stop again!

First time to Daily Grind and it didn't disappoint. Amazing burgers, our family loved it. And the service was great. We were very impressed.

Was pleasantly surprised to find this hidden gem while on the road from Phoenix, AZ to Houston, TX in the town of Fort Sumner, NM. I immediately felt the "home town" vibe of this special restaurant & coffee shop. The staff was so friendly & welcoming that I immediately felt right at home. Had a "BLT" & asked them to add a fried egg & they happily obliged. it was simply excellent & brought back vivid memories of my youth from a bygone era when food was prepared with love , caring & pride in serving the very best to the community they served. A little about the proprietors: before "Sam" Samantha & Kurt started this wonderful eatery & coffee house, it was a Mexican restaurant called Fred's that had proudly served the Fort Sumner community for 47 years. So the history of friendly service & outstanding fare literally is permeated within. Now for the sad part. I discovered that this was their last day open! After 4 years, surviving thru the Covid restrictions, Sam & Kurt are have to close due to illness. It saddens the heart that Fort Sumner, NM will lose this hidden gem. If I lived here, it would have definitely been my "go to" place for everything. Thank you so much Sam & Kurt for providing the friendliest & definitely the tastiest place ever. Oh and the coffee is divine...

Homemade slow cooked roast beef and huge mason jar ice tea

Agreeing on the best place in the area. Family was very satisfied! Not many restaurant choices but this as a winner! Across from Billy The Kid museum, this place was a quaint diner that had a big variety from all day breakfast, sandwiches, burgers, southwest and yes....huge mason jars for ice cold drinks! Very helpful, hospitable and welcoming!

Stacked Enchiladas (beef, chicken, & cheese) with rice and pinto beans-more than you can eat!

Very good food and super nice people working there. The home made cakes are fantastic, especially with their freshly brewed coffee.

This cute little coffee shop was not hard to find, it's located in a little town out of no where. As soon as I walked in, the first thing I see is the rainbow flag on the wall and I tell my son.. hey they represent your gang! :-) The next thing I notice is the rest of the cute decor. There was 2 other people in the coffee shop when we got there and shortly after others started to come in. They had a display case with a few baked goods and they have some unique flavors. I got the coffee with honey and it was quite good. It gave me a little boost in energy. I wanted a little more energy, but it did what it needed to do to get me to my next destination. The shop has several tables and thank goodness they had a restroom! Restroom was semi clean, but overall the place was clean. If I was ever in the area again, I would definitely stop here again and give this place another chance. Parking is not bad, there's not a lot of people so it was not an issue. There's other businesses nearby and I'm not sure what the day to day looks like, but it did not seem busy at all. The locals seem to like this place as it's rated pretty high. I did not get a chance to try the baked goods, but they did look delicious, if I ever come back then I would love to try that next time!

MAKE IT A PRIORITY TO STOP HERE!…read more We walked in to get a little coffee and after being greeted by the gentlemen at the front and seeing the young lady in the back preparing some new bakery items I knew this was the place. We ordered some pastries and coffee. We loved them so much we got some more to go so we can enjoy later in the day in our hotel. Absolutely among best home made fresh bakery items I have had. The building is bright and fun colored, and really has a 50s touch to it. The cafes interior was so warm and welcoming. Cushioned chairs, newspapers, lots of plants, Route 66 books laid out to read ... it is absolutely a peaceful place to spend your morning. Butter yellows, rich greens, and brick walls! Just so homey. I ordered an iced hazelnut latte, coffee cake and peach and ginger yogurt parfait! AMAZING! The coffee was a great mix of strong coffee flavored and sweet hazelnut. Coffee cake was yummy with small walnuts throughout, moist cinnamon parts and a crisp top! My yogurt parfait was my favorite, the peach and ginger addition being a compote. So unique and delicious, I'm so glad I tried it. Drew got two quiches and a strawberry lemonade! He loved both. The staff was extremely welcoming, helpful and kind to us while ordering, and offered to box up my coffee cake for the road. Making conversation about where we are from and what brings us here, they really made us feel at home all the way in New Mexico!
