Pros: Lovely room, very modern layout. The was only a curtain to separate the shower and bath, so it felt very spacious. Complimentary refrigerator/mini bar, tea, coffee (Nespresso machine), and shortbread tea cookies! Complimentary breakfast - hot breakfast options include eggs benedict or a full English breakfast. Great way to start the morning The overall layout of the hotel is spacious and airy, almost spa-like. Cons: The only laundry service is per piece. Cost quickly adds up. They offered a little iPod loaded with hotel information and things to see in the area. It's a nice touch, but mine was broken. When I talked to the front desk about it, they said they would fix it but for the 2 weeks I was there, it never improved. This is a little further removed from the downtown area. Add an extra 5 min of walking to get to more of the downtown shops and restaurants.

Seemed like the service staff just had there little jobs in mind rather than at least keeping 1 eye on the customers. It's a beautiful and historic (over 600 years old) place. Perfect location on the main road in Broadway. Lots of little shops. It's nice to walk around outside. Very safe. They told me I could walk outside at 3 am and no one would do anything to me. Food at the tavern restaurant was good, not amazing but good. My friends who had spa treatments said they were great. The whole estate is so charming. No elevators tho! Uneven walkways throughout. Would go back and would recommend!

The decor was lovely inside, nice furniture and decorations and they had restored it very well. The hotel is stunning with old wooden beams, and a black n white striped exterior typical for it's era.

I'm not sure I'd classify this as a 5 star hotel like as one review references, it's missing too much for that rating. Comfy beds, claw foot tub in the bedroom, and large bathroom with a large walk-in shower. I didn't take advantage of the hotels "spa" features. Wi-fi is now free.

Here are my ratings: Location (5 Stars) - Right downtown and an easy walk around High street. Very dog friendly and very nice front desk staff. Bar (5 Stars) - Gorgeous inside bar area, which we saw both from ground level and via the upper catwalk to our room. Service was friendly and engaging. Patio (5 Stars) - Steller outdoor patio on a very nice day. We relaxed with our drinks and never wanted this experience to end. Dinner (5 Stars) - As fine a dining experience as we had during our week in the Cotswolds. We took dinner in a very nice dining room with comfortable seating and excellent meal choices. Breakfast (5 Stars). Breakfast was in the dining room and featured good selection, nice dining room, timely service, strong coffee, good portions, and tasty choices. You can't do much better than that. Accommodation (4 Stars). One thing we found about historic UK Inns is that climbing up the stairs with luggage is required. Yes, they'll help you, but we're starting to get a little old for this. The room was a big small, but we really appreciated having both a bedroom and sitting room, which accommodated our different sleep schedules.

Children welcomed as are everyone, there are no airs and graces here, just good honest hospitality and welcoming staff. Only down side is the ladies loos you have to go up some steps - I haven't really checked out if they have a disabled one on ground floor, I suppose the thinking is "if you can walk the Hills - then you can climb the stairs to the loo" otherwise it's really perfect for access.
