Davey Tree service charged my neighbor and my insurance company $32,000 to remove one tree and then proceeded to send me bill after bill after bill after bill after bill after bill after bill from August, until now, it is November. The insurance company has told me they have paid Davey, which I believe since they also paid my contractor who is fixing my garage. I have called them five times and I have never received a phone call back. Just research Davey Tree and lawsuits to find anything from wrongful death or murder and other problems not as terrible but that might help you decide you never want to do business with this company. read more

Overpriced. Preys on people in Plymouth especially. I've used them in the past but this last time their quote was over double what another company quoted me. Also their arborist recommended I "wait" two years for my two large pines with a fungal infection of needle cast before cutting them down. I have a huge row of large pines next to them. Needle cast spreads easily tree to tree by fallen needles. He didn't even recommend fungal prevention for my other healthy pines! Did he want all my pines to die? It costs thousands upon thousands to cut down a huge row of pines.. I am so glad I found the company Tree Trust, they are a thousand times better and not overpriced. Davey is a scam. They don't even have Google reviews probably because the reviews were so bad. I complained on their company website about my experience with the arborist and guess what? The arborist responded by emailing me directly! That is unprofessional! A manager or customer service member should respond not the person I was complaining about. As a survivor of abuse that was very triggering. Women should be free to complain about service without having the employee respond back. read more

Wonderful safe and trustworthy. This was the second time I used Davey in South St. Paul. My First experience years ago was memorably great. This time Scheduling an estimate was easy. Nick Arborist was very knowledgable and he kindly educated me on what kind of tree I have and gave me recommendations and explained what a canker was. Price was great vs other companies and I trust them. I felt respected as a female homeowner. Work was done on time as promised within a couple weeks. Davey team came out and spoke with me about what they were doing and what to expect. Great communication and they did a wonderful job. It looks so good. My homeowners insurance requested more info and e-mails and phone calls with Davey for the tree trimming and Davey was very quickly available and responsive to me and to homeowners demands. I will definitely use them again and trust them and recommend them for anyone. read more

Joe came out and was very friendly and thorough at explaining what he was doing as well as his findings. I really appreciated how careful he was with the other plants around the tree, and when he was done he left everything exactly as it was before he arrived. I honestly assumed that the area around the tree would be destroyed, and my plants would not survive. so I was pleasantly surprised he was so careful and didn't hurt a thing. In mid 2022 I needed a tree removed for a fence to be put in. Davey showed up and did a fine job, no complaints about that. It was the one and only time I hired them. BUT THEN over six months later and totally out of the blue I get an e-mail from Davey saying since I used them one time, I'm now under annual contract with them for ongoing services unless I write them a letter to cancel. I never signed anything, I never asked for this, what the hell are they thinking? I told Davey what they are doing is likely illegal. I told them I hired them once to remove a tree and asked if they planned to come back every year and take out another tree or what the heck they were trying to renew my service for? In the end a company I held in high regard I now view as garbage. I would NOT recommend using Davey for anything or they will send you a perpetual bill every year since under their logic you hire them once, you are now an ongoing customer for life unless you cancel in writing. Even if you don't sign anything. What a scummy, sleazy, crappy way to do business! Booo on Davey a once great company is now garbage due to pure greed. read more

I requested a trimming for several oaks on my property. The 3 man crew Davey sent out was great. They worked quickly, while still emphasizing safety of the crew and my property (and my neighbors'). The crew also communicated very well with me, double checking what I wanted done and letting me inspect progress. Cleanup was better than any other of about a dozen other tree crews I've hired. My place looked better than when they started. As for value, I'd say Davey is competitive with other tree services on price and way ahead on service. The crew worked so quickly, they were able to do an extra cabling task that the boss said wouldn't fit into a single workday. read more

We have been using Davey for years and have been extremely pleased with their services. In particular Tyler has been a real star. Each fall Davey does a complete trim of all of our shrubs and trees. They also fertilize our shrubs in the spring and inoculate our ash tree periodically. Tyler, the representative with whom we work, is extremely knowledgeable and easy to work with. I needed someone to do some significant tree trimming on my property, and when I put in a call to Davey they had someone out at my place the next day to do a free evaluation. They gave me an estimate and made a couple suggestions of other maintenance I should consider and left it at that. Totally no-pressure situation. The rep was knowledgable and professional, and I was impressed at how much time he took to do a thorough inspection. I approved the work they suggested and they had crews coming out to complete the work with very little required of me. The work crews were also knowledgable and professional. I didn't do a lot of shopping around, so I don't know how competitive their prices are. It seemed expensive, but as I mentioned there was a lot of work to do. Two guys spent the better part of a day working on the tree trimming. But as far as the experience and results go I couldn't be happier. We asked for an estimate for some tree trimming along with my neighbor. The rep (Actually the District Manager) came and spent some time with both of us. It would be a sizable job with work on both our properties. We never heard back. I sent the rep an e mail and he never responded. I called today just for the hell of it to see if anyone ever heard of us and the receptionist took my name saying that someone would be in touch. No response. Even though many people were in need of their services, Davey had a representative to our house within hours and was able to schedule the tree removal for the next day. The crew was very professional and friendly, carefully removing the branches and debris without causing any additional damage to the house. I needed two trees removed from my very small St Paul backyard. Due to the wind storm earlier this year, I have been trying to hire an arborist for months. Most of them would take weeks, or more, to provide an estimate. Most never returned my call. A client of mine referred me to Davey Tree. They called me the same day they were given my name, and I had an estimate in hand within 24 hours. The trees were cut down within a week after I approved the estimate and the stumps were ground and surface roots removed. They were not the cheapest estimate that I received, but they were worth every penny. The trees were a black cherry and an ash. The black cherry was sick and leaning towards my neighbors house.
