I finally managed to make my way to this pub and have a beer here, which basically means that I have now visited the four pubs at the intersection in the middle of Frankston. It's a bit fancy, but considering that it is Frankston, one probably shouldn't be too surprised that there happens to be a bouncer at the door that does all of that bouncer stuff. He was good enough nonetheless, so I can't complain. The rooftop deck was the only part that was open, which was pretty cool mind you, because you do get a great view. I heard this joint had a nice dress code so I decided to check it out. Boy, was I disappointed. The bouncers were wearing "runners" or whatever it is the Aussies call jogging shoes. I'm sitting there wearing a pair of $500 Armani kicks and these blokes look like they got dressed in the local hardware store. Strike 1. I decided to go in anyways. There wasn't anything else to do in this little town so I had to try it out. Sure enough the manager decided to come up and make my acquaintance. It appeared as though he wasn't used to someone dressing so well. He asked for advice on how to make the joint a bit classier, I responded by telling him that having a couple blokes outside practically begging me to come inside was a poor look. He laughed as though I was making a joke. Strike 3. Toward the end of the night they tried to kick some poor gent out for wearing a suit. Insanity, I thought, considering that I came to the place looking for a classy affair. It was pretty clear they were just trying to increase the ratio of females to males. As it stood then, I was one of 50 guys present, and there were about 5 women total, including (what I think) was the manager's mum. Strike 4. Look there wasn't much else to do. I'm embarrassed I went too. But, it was a nice little time if you're looking to grab some beers in joggers. Had just gotten to town after a 20+ hour trip. This was a great spot to watch the racing sailboats while sipping on some great beer and a good burger. Will be back. Try the lamb burger medium rare. Waitstaff very accommodating. read more

Was in town with some friends and decided to hit up the towns "cool spot". The bouncer tried to speak English to me but rather seemed to have peanut butter stuck to the roof of his mouth and came off as borderline verbally illiterate. After much arguing and nearly a fight breaking out I learned he was trying to tell me to tuck in my shirt before entering. Upon going into the club I thought at any moment the "frat bros" this club attracted and their cracked out hookers would puke on my shoes at any moment. I strongly encourage you to skip this town entirely considering all other bars are closed past 12, unless you're trying to gamble at a casino that doesn't offer alcohol past 12. read more
