I think I was in charge of lunch arrangements and did a terrible job of it. In fact, we showed up here around 1pm for lunch for 8 adults and 3 kids with no reservations - I'm glad they were able to accommodate us as I had no real backup plan (I blame jetlag). They seated us in the outdoor area which is undercover and was just perfect for us as the kids were able to run wild without bothering anyone else. It's a really good set up, and even though it was a pretty hot day it wasn't too hot out there. The food was really good and even though we were off in our own area, service was pretty decent. I'd definitely head back to this pub for another meal next time we're in town - it's got a lovely park over the road for kids, and is right near the beach. Just perfect.

It's dark in here, and it's LOUD, so don't go here if you want to have a meaningful debate about the merits of Fauvist painting with your friend the art student. DO go here if you want a few bevvies with laid-back friends in a cool environment. I've been here a few times, mostly for drinking, but have also had the food. They have a couple of vegan options including a vegan pizza and a vegan share platter with breads and dips, all clearly marked on the menu. I had the vegan pizza ("Livin It Vegan It") with olives and mushrooms and basil. It was alright, but not super memorable. Mostly you're coming here for the vibe -- typical Melbourne warehouse-hidden-off-a-main-street setting, where the ground floor is a pizza place and you take the stairs to the actual bar area, which is a giant dimly-lit room, with lots of different seating areas available. With 3 levels and fully stocked bars, you would think that there could be a bit more effort into making a really unique and awesome atmosphere instead of just a bunch of cool lights in a plain room. There are I think 3 levels to this place just filled with stuff, bars on each level, etc. There was nothing really special about this place really. There weren't many decorations or amazing ambiance qualities. Honestly it just looked like someone's house. As far as the drink prices go, they're pretty standard expensive Melbourne fare - nothing too extravagant. I probably will make a visit to this nightclub again sometime in the future. Friendly staff, great music and unpretentious patrons make for one of the best atmospheres in the club scene - an absolute must visit for anyone into techno, shuffling or a place that stays open till the early hours. Entry is $18, $14 if you're on a guest list, and is good value. With no apparent dress code, patrons can dress for comfort with anything from hoodies to short shorts, phat pants and skate shoes. Perhaps the only things I wouldn't wear are high heels- the surest indication of a first time visitor. Loud speakers blast hardstyle techno infused with trance, which easily manages to unite the diverse range of patrons. From eighteen-year-olds to thirty-five-year-old raving veterans, 3D is a meeting ground for Melbourne shufflers but is by no means exclusive. With a dance floor on each level and differing décor to suit, there is nothing boring about this place. The bottom floor opens first and features peace signs, neon lasers and the cloakroom ($4 a garment). Surrounding the quite small dance floor is a mismatch of couches, chairs and benches for patrons. You'll find many people will occupy these all night, content to sit and observe the shuffling of some of Melbourne's most talented. Each level provides a dance floor of similar size, around 7m squared. Level one is quite generic in design - nothing too exciting. Level two is decked out in black and white checkered tiles with faux silver chandeliers, gilt framed mirrors and disco balls providing quite a glitzy feel. Also on this floor is a room full of couches- great for worn out bodies to sit and relax. In an adjacent room is a pool table, though it's quite hard to find behind its black curtain entrance. Grab a game for just $2. As it gets busier, the third floor is opened up. This level is decked out in a funky psychedelic space theme. Aliens adorn the walls and as you reach the top of the stairs make sure to look up for a glimpse of 'the Alien' hanging suspended overhead. Glow sticks light up the room, tacked around the wrists, waists and earlobes of patrons. Smokers will find an outdoor area provided for them on this floor - only opened when busy. With a bar on every level you can treat yourself to basic spirits at $7.50, pots at $5.00 and cocktails starting from $10. Happy hour operates between 10pm and midnight and most drinks are half price. Service can be a little slow at times, but the bartenders are friendly and regular patrons are served by name, which is uncommon in the nightclub scene. The set up here is exactly how one finds karaoke bars in cities like Shanghai. It's a large venue full of private karaoke rooms that are fully equipped with a large screen, the karaoke machine, two microphones, a large coffee table (very important) and cheap vinyl sofas around the periphery of the room. They have songs in English, Chinese, Japanese and Korean and the video clips that accompany each song can be completely hilarious. Prices are comparatively cheap and you often get two free drinks as part of your room reservation. To order more drinks, simply pick up the in-room phone and make your demands (politely). Ask nicely at the bar and you might be given a couple of tambourines and other small percussive instruments to take back to your room to add to the excellent noise your group is making.
