I am truly sorry to report that the Decker Law Firm failed me, and when I met with one of the Senior Partners in the Firm to address my concern, he agreed that his Firm had made a legal oversight or omission which left me at loss from receiving income agreed to go to me for the rest of my life in an Estate Settlement. I got arrested in my driveway and before the body cam turned on I went in the house and drank some vodka and came back out. That's when the body cam was turned on and the sobriety test was taken didn't think to ask what happened from the time I pulled into the driveway of my house And the time the body cam with the police officer was turned on. I thought I was safe in my home so I didn't hesitate to blow but again I wasn't drinking before I pulled into the driveway and no questions were asked. Just make sure ask the right question. Bottom line up front: This is the best attorney firm I've EVER worked with! This review is not about whether are not my case ended successfully. The merits of each case are different. Circumstances are what they are. This review is about my attorney and the firm. William Nexsen provided me with excellent representation. I have been more than pleased with his ethics and professionalism. Mr. Nexsen was always prepared, and he did a fantastic job of preparing my to deal with my case. Always calling it like it is, Mr. Nexsen stayed focused on case documentation, the individuals involved in the case, and timelines required for resolution of issues. I also became keenly aware of how well Mr. Nexsen understood the overall feel of the court and the various judges who presided of it. In addition to Mr. Nexsen's merits, it would also be appropriate to discuss the firm's staff. There wasn't one time that I called that wasn't met with the utmost in professionalism. I recently contacted the Decker Law Firm regarding a potential civil matter and received a return call from an attorney whose name I will refer to as "No Time." I briefly described the event I will refer to as " The tort" to Mr. No Time, including my thought that I may actually need a lawyer in Florida, but hoped our phone consultation would produce advice on how to proceed; including a possible referral to a vetted attorney in Florida. It is at this point that the consultation went into the ditch. It's only fair that I point out that I served 8 years as a South Carolina Magistrate Court Judge and 25 years as a Complex Litigation Paralegal so you will understand how shocked I was by Mr. No Time's response and the later actions of the Receptionist and Paralegal. Mr. No Time tells me he thinks the case is not a case and abruptly tells me that Assault and Battery is not a civil cause of action in Virginia so he cannot be of help in the matter. I replied by telling him that Assault & Battery was in fact a legal tort and was alive and well in Virginia. Mr. No Time again told me it would have to be taken up in Florida and thus, once again, he could be of no assistance. Thereafter, the conversation turned upside down and ended. After a full day of mulling over this disturbing exchange with Mr No Time, I decided to call the firm back. I explained to the receptionist that I'd had a recent phone consultation with Mr. No Time, and asked if she would give me Attorney Pete Decker III's email address. Simple, you'd think. The receptionist put me on hold for three minutes and 12 seconds, returns to the phone and ask me why I want Mr. Decker's email address. I again ask if I could have Mr. Decker's email address so I could discuss a matter with Mr. Decker. The receptionist put me on hold again for 12 minutes 49 seconds. She returned to the phone, however; upon this return she seemed at the very least hostile, and again said I could NOT have an email address . She told me to go to website and leave contact information and someone would call me back; but I could not leave a message for Mr. Decker on the website. I said I wanted to have communication with him without the email going straight to reception, a confidential matter. She angrily repeated that I could tell her the message or I could leave it on the website, put me on hold for 6 more minutes and then " the paralegal" picks up and repeats like a monkey three times that no one gets to communicate straight with Mr. Decker. Wow. Therefore, I hope that Mr. Decker will see this review before his helpful staff intercedes to prevent me from telling him about Mr. No Time. Frankly, my experience is in direct conflict with your TV commercial representing the firm's helpfulness. It has been my experience that, at the very least, a law firm would provide names of other lawyers, possibly from Martindale Hubbell, by way of referral if the firm could not assist. Mr. Decker, the actions taken by the receptionist and paralegal to prevent my contacting you were to say the least unprofessional. It is my suspicion that this was not their first rodeo. I had Jennifer Gebler as my attorney until I realized it wasn't the way to go when she completely, after sitting down with me in her office, mind you , I asked Mr. Neal if I could use another lawyer because I just had a bad vibe from her. Of course he said "no, we don't do that here. If you want representation elsewhere you can do that but we don't jump from lawyer to lawyer. She's the best we have and she only handles those type of cases". I was like, okkkkk. So in the middle of ya trying to figure out my case Mr. Neskis keeps calling her to leave me while talking to me about my case after I paid her more than 2 times on the phone. She told him she was busy and with a client. He still interrupted her and without further or due, without hearing all of my case at all, told me she had to go in the middle of my session and never got the full story at all and never called me back after which I called her paralegal a week or so later to tell her I wanted her to withdraw from my case. There was no positivity at all from the start with her, which is why I wanted to change my lawyer. You would think I stole something or did a heinous crime or something. So, she never calls me back about the case after I paid my initial down payment. Called her paralegal like I said to tell her that I just wanted my money back and I wanted to withdraw from her. 3 to 4 weeks go by, no call at all that her paralegal tells me should would do by telling her. I call yesterday to her paralegal again and as her paralegal is shocked that she didn't call me back at all I'm shocked that she's shocked. So we are both shocked on the phone. Then and only then, Mrs. Gebler calls back after those missing weeks. Gets on the phone and as I'm asking questions that I didn't understand and called back and did the same she tells me I'm arguing with her because I'm asking questions and my witness was like, what is wrong with her, you're not even yelling or calling her names, all you're doing is asking questions. Thus, made for her to recant her statement of if you want me to take your case call me back and let me know, while also saying, "I think it's best that we withdraw from your case, in which the beginning of this I stated clearly before yesterday even happened. Now it looks like she's trying to turn it on me and make me look like I'm causing mass hysteria. This is all while calling her Ma'am. Ha. She literally argued with me because I asked a simple question and it made no sense of her response. And I never even said," I'm not listening to you I'm going to do what I want to, I said, ok but it bothers me in what you said like the law is going to change for little ole me because I'm acting on my right for lose of wages and so forth. Then she says, we handle cases here like that but you will have to go elsewhere to take care of that because we won't be doing it. In nicer terms, I said, uhhh, ok. Duely notes and it's amazing how you sit here and tell me the court system does wrong things but that's how it is. I was like what in the......did you just really say that to me as a potential customer!? It was all bad, even from the jump. I had to call for her to call me, after 3 to 4 weeks. My friend was like she's the one that's arguing, you're asking her a question in light of that's what I said I did to, ask a question to my then attorney. And you know it had to be done, she quickly ran to Mr. Neskis and told him that I was going to do something lawfully that I never told that lady a day in my life and of course told the juicy parts and fabricated as much as I know to him for him to call me and tell me they think it's best they withdraw. I'm like, are y'all ok? I already explained that to her and I'm telling you that 3 to 4 weeks ago I told her paralegal to let her know I wanted to withdraw from her, as her paralegal tried to coax me into keeping her based off of their training statue. Told her no, I need her to call me back and then, she never did for 3 to 4 weeks until yesterday, this is only because I called her. She's rude beyond belief. I've never in my life said that about any lawyer ever that I had. They are suppose to help you and be positive, not with her. No no. Then Mr. neskis calls me and does the same exact thing. And then he proceeds to tell me , "I believe or side with her". I honestly said, "of course, I know you do". I'm thinking in my head are these people paying attention to me? I already said I called 4 weeks ago to withdraw from her and now you're telling me exactly what I already said?.....for me, she wasn't professional at all, maybe for you she may make your life as beautiful as a spring day. It was complete chaos for no reason. Ha e no idea what was wrong with her yesterday. Word to the wise, if a "lawyer" leaves out of the room on any charge while you're trying to make ends meet for the sake your case, you may want to find another lawyer because that's not going to end well. read more

I did not actually end up hiring an attorney. But I did call around and most tried to get $45 per 15 minute consult. The Decker Law Firm however had an actual attorney call me and speak to me about what I was inquiring about (bad deal with auto dealership). He not only took the time to listen to me, but he gave me consult advice which I found very helpful to point me in the right direction. I am writing to file a complaint about attorney Larry Cardon of Decker, Cardon, Thomas, Weintraub & Neskis, P.C. who recently represented me on a DUI charge in Virginia Beach. I am aware that he is a long night time lawyer that is suppose for have a good reputation but he failed me miserably. I retained his services to represent me on a DUI charge that I received in June 2016. Shortly after I paid the firm in full for his services he had his Aministrative Assistant call to ask me to write a "biography of events" of what happened the night of the arrest and have it to him a few weeks prior to the court date for his review, which I did within a few days of the request. A copy was also sent to the City of Virginia Beach Police department to file a complaint against the officer. Thete are are several things that the police officer did incorrectly during my so called arrest and in the biography I stated everything that happened but Mr. Cardon did not mention one word of it to the prosecuting attorney or the judge so I ended up getting severly penalized when I should have never even been arrested in the first place. Obviously first of all my complaint is that he never even mentioned any of what happened to the prosecuting attorney or the judge and a day or two after my court date in sent him an e mail asking why he did not mention any of it because I was contemplating filing an appeal but he never replied to it. Knowing that time was of the essencene for me to file an appeal he should have replied immediately, I have yet to even receive a reply. I have since spoke with a different attorney regarding an appeal since Mr. Cardon did not reply to my e mail but he wanted over $3,000 to file an appeal for me which I simply cannot afford nor should I have to. Since that time after I mailed the check for my fines to the court Mr. Cardon was able to find it in his interest to call me to inform me that I failed to pay court costs and processing fees along with my fine (another $221) which neither he nor the judge told me about. It sounds to me that he gets a piece of that, otherwise why we old he call? He didn't bother to call when I requested it after I had already paid him in full for his services. Bottom line is that I have not received proper representation from Mr. Cardon. I could have gotten the same severe penalties by hiring another attorney for much less or represented myself. read more
