    Mmm pie
    Ian M.

Ok, I'm not a massive fan of corporate Spinningfields, but I really enjoyed Dockyard because: - good company - good music; Bowie! - £5 offer of pie. This came with mash, peas and gravy. - Titanic Plumb Porter on. - Friendly & prompt service The pie wouldn't leave you stuffed, as was a middling size, but it was very tasty. So get down before the end of Jan, and take them up on their £5 pie offer. We were unsure if you actually needed the yellow Spinningfields card for this offer, so worth clarifying with them - they did not mention it on twitter. The ale was great, but was at the upper end of acceptable price wise. 40p off that, and it'd be 5*.

Love this place! So glad they have now opened in Manchester having been a frequent visitor to the Quays. Great selection of real ales and lovely food at really good prices. I've got a feeling I'll be seeing quite a lot of the Dockyard....

Love it in here! A replica of the one in Media City UK. I was here for a couple of drinks and a catch up with Victoria B. Its had a bustling atmosphere when we were there on a friday afternoon. They have a huge selection of craft beers including the Seven Brothers beer. The Dockyard also have there own beer which is pretty nice and refreshing. I loved the whole theme to the place as you just felt you was sat in a Dockyard, a really really cool place and a great new addition to Spinningfields. They also have a few benches out on the front but it was a bit chilly on the day.

The Dockyard is a good new addition to Spinningfields and very similar to the one in Media City ie.good. Huge selection of craft and local beers, so a great place to come for a lunchtime drink or a drink after work. Came in here on a Friday afternoon with Chris T. and it was pretty busy. Attracts quite a lot of good looking suit-types, which I'm not complaining about. Reminds me very much of some of the bars on Canary Wharf in London. There are benches outside so you can sit by the water on a sunny day. Inside it has a sort of industrial, boat/marina theme with high ceilings and plenty of seating-high tables with stools, sofas and ordinary tables. Just came in here for a beer- good vibes, not too formal, will visit again :)

This is very similar to the Dockyard which is in Media City - very industrial look but it is very pleasant at the same time. hey have the balance just right in my opinion as some places go OTT with he industrial look and it can make places feel unwelcoming. The beer selection is very good and I had a lovely pint of wheat beer. We shared a Spicy beef wrap which is great value considering you are in Spinningfields. The location is great for me as I work just across the water so can pop in if I feel like a good pin on my lunch breaks. Lets hope it continues to be as busy and doesn't fall fate to the oher businesses which have closed down in the area...

Post-Manchester Print Fair, we were looking for somewhere relaxed for a drink and some food; nothing too fancy and totally affordable, which can be difficult to find in this area of town. Despite my hesitation around them potentially showing the Manchester derby (no thanks!) it was actually a very calm atmosphere with not a hint of football. Although the sun had started to disappear, we're British and it was the first day of Spring, so we took our bottle of prosecco and sat outside. At just over £20, it's not the cheapest, but certainly what we were all in the mood for. There are heaters available outside but the position of the building means we missed most of the breeze. In the mood for some small plates, we shared the nachos with ginger chicken, truffle mac & cheese, and some skin on fried. The skin on fries were just fries, and I doubt anyone would complain about them having the skin on, and mac & cheese was a surprising favourite as it wasn't too saucy and had some real truffle flavour to it. The nachos were a marked improvement on my previous experience at the MediaCity location, though the chicken was slightly too sweet for my tastes. At roughly £4.50 a dish, it's a cheap meal when split between a few of you, and a relaxed way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

The Dockyard offers a good selection of beers and ales and hearty pub grub as well as a relaxing, laid back and welcoming atmosphere - it's certainly something a little different compared to some of the more upmarket places around Spinningfields. I really enjoyed the décor, with its modern twist on boating, there's ropes twisted within the roof and numerous other nautical themed items posted around the bar. I headed down for their bargain £5 pie offer and I cannot fault it one bit. The pie wasn't huge, but of course for £5 I wasn't expecting it to be. I opted for the beef and ale pie and the flavours were mouthwateringly good. The mash was creamy and the gravy was the perfect consistency. Absolutely delicious. I can see myself spending a lot more time here over the coming months - but afterall I am northern therefore I do love a good pie.

We were in Town for the Manchester Day Parade and needed a nice spot for food and in the shade. I've had drinks before at the one in Media City and thought we'd give it a go. We were not disappointed the food was lovely and great service. The menu is simple but everything we had was great. It's also not very busy which is surprising but great for us!

Great bar and restaurant on the bank of the river Irwell with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. This building used to be a Cafe Rouge and was always very quiet, but since its transformation into Dockyard they are getting something right as its almost always busy. Nice menu options including Ribs, Chicken and roast dinners on Sunday. A plethora of beer options, including the ability to have a 'flight' of beer which is three one third of a pint glasses which allows you to sample more of the delicious ales. Unfortunately this has recently increased in price from £4 to £5, which is a tad steep for a pint. Free wifi is available.

The menu was pretty standard, so I quickly have chosen what to have and went to take a seat. The breakfast was of the right temperature, no twists, does the job. If want a quick fix ( depending on how many people are already there) while waiting for your train or stuff at Mosi, than that's the place; otherwise might want to check out things nearby. The wait was a bit too long - but again, this is a pub, not a breakfast place, so not sure it's fair to expect fast service at this time of day.

Although it's traditional and there's nothing that makes you go wow like some nearby trendy bars, it's definitely this which appeals to me - in fact I found a lovely little table towards the back with a roaring fire which warmed me up on a day when the weather was starting to look rather autumnal. I was served by 3 different staff and all were friendly, polite and welcoming. For some bizarre reason I decided to go for their 2 for £12.95 lunch deal (why I needed 2 courses at lunch I'm not sure but it seemed good value - plus I'd been in meetings all day so needed a fair amount of comfort food) and I went for the ham hock terrine to start with (lovely piccalilli) followed by the steak and ale pie with chips and vege's (devine). The quality and taste was excellent and with a very full belly I felt my work here was done! Speaking of work, it was also a good little spot to work for an hour on my laptop afterwards - with free wifi. That's the right way to blend tradition and modern so as the customer has the best of both worlds :-)

Located in a part of the city that is clearly on the up (just off St Peters Square) it's a traditional boozer of the very old school variety - deceptively sized with a tiny front bar but loads of seating in the back! The drinks on offer are all a little bit stuck in the past for my beer tastes but this isn't a problem for most patrons - they just do lots of bitters, lagers and stouts. I have to say that their beer flights are great value at just over £3.00 where you can get a third of each beer of your choice up to a pint - really good idea and great to see it appearing in more and more pubs! City Arms is somewhere that's cool to pop into if you're after a quick pint or meeting with friends, I just can't see myself wanting to spend all night here - I think I'd get very bored, very quickly of the beers on offer - but this is my own overly pretentious beery opinion!
