Amazing is a word I would use to describe The Dolder Grand. Visiting, and staying here is special. Our first visit was in 2017. The rooms here are beautiful. Each decorated with the best furnishings, and each different. The service is excellent. When you make a request, the staff will always make sure your wish is fulfilled. The food here is excellent. The restaurant uses the best local ingredients and every single item is prepared fresh. The baked goods, and desserts are made fresh daily. The nightly rates here are what you would expect from a 5 star hotel. Our last visit was recent in late 2019. We will be back in 2020. read more

I stayed at The Dolder Grand for both business and travel, and it honestly blew me away. It's a bit outside the city centre, but the view is absolutely stunning. The room was beautiful and filled with amazing artwork. Even though I was there for work, it felt like a real getaway. I'd love to come back someday...next time just for vacation. read more

This was a really nice hotel; it's Grand. Located outside city center but with great views. It is more a place for large group tours and/or large scale business meetings. Room was very well appointed. Fantastic artwork all over the place. One can take a museum tour and at each piece is QR code display so you learn more about the item. Being on tour we didn't have a car but there was a nearby restaurant (Restaurant Degenried, Thomas Juon) which I wrote a separate review. A few minutes walk from hotel. On second day our tour guide took us to the funicular just outside the hotel and rode it down to city and later back up. Take the #3 or #8 tram to get into city. read more

Wow,wow, wow. What a magnificent hotel. The rooms were wonderful and the grounds were beautiful. The breakfast buffet was excellent although service was a little slow. We had drinks and light bites at the outdoor patio in the front of the hotel.......wonderful. The staff was very friendly and helpful when ordering. We went there two nights in a row and loved it. This hotel is so fabulous that I can only hope the next time I am in Zurich we will stay there. read more

I would give 10 stars or more if I could. Because of this hotel I would come back again to Zürich. The best place to stay here. The service is excellent, spa is spectacular and food was amazing. Every room has great and amazing views. Either on the woods behind the hotel or onto Zurich city / pool area in front. Great valet service, very attentive to detail and experts in driving high end manual sports cars. This is not Miami, where you are unfortunately forced to abandon your baby car to a teenager valet who looks like he barely knows how to use the clutch! Food is obviously over the top, but a little bit too much nouvelle cuisine in my opinion. A lot of appetizers and in betweens on the house / offered by the chef, which makes the whole experience a little uncomfortable. We ordered a meat and a vegetarian dish and the waiter kept bringing little hors d'oeuvre kind of tasting bites in between our appetizers, entrees and main courses. The o bites were mix of caviar, oysters and other types of fish items that we weren't really in the mood of tasting during our dinner. read more

Hotel fit for a princess!! Maybe a queen or two. Nothing screams adventure like following a stranger into a dark alley space in a foreign country. Oh wait~ there it is!! It's a hidden tram station. Only way is up! Not connected to anywhere! All you have to do is go up or wait for that bright light :) charming in my book! Or creepy? Kind of goes hand in hand! All the cobble stones, narrow roads and trams. Picture yourself away from all the hustle and bustle of busy central area of Zurich, which is about fifteen minutes drive. Not too far. You get dropped off here as instructed. And the only way up is to take the tram. But where is this tram!! It's not visible from the street trams. One can look around for a while. Or perhaps bump into a very nice local and he will take you there. Once you're inside, you'll be oohing over many little details. The place is as grand as you can imagine. Almost like a museum. You wouldn't want to be running around here. Never know what you might break! Service is good. Great even. But you definitely know you are in a luxury hotel. Soft jazz, piano bar, beautiful chandeliers, art, crystals, gold, views!! As usual in Zurich, it is quite expensive to stay here. But it is also quite a treat. Love the room!! Service isn't pushy or over the top. I didn't spend enough time in the hotel as I should but from what I saw, I enjoyed it. A must do~ the lunch!! The view!! And their Michelin start restaurant's tasting meal! End it all at the beautiful dim lit, chandelier filled piano bar. It can be quite lively even on a weekday! Our musician was quite charming and sang almost anything I wanted! Lovely indeed! I'm sure it is a fantastic place for events and such too. Definitely a fun and memorable stay! read more

A lot of hotels boast high star ratings, but none more deserving of all stars than Dolder Grand. Unique, unexpected, perfectly situated, more than enough room, finished to perfection. Cost is higher than other hotels I've stayed claiming high star ratings, yet this was understandable in price. You get what you pay for. The art collection around the facility is truly museum worthy and should be seen by the many. Overlooking the beautiful city perched over her shoulder serving as the good angel offering true harmony when choosing this path. Enjoyed the architecture woven into the hillside and then jeweled with beautiful sculptures and wall ornaments like a chandelier earring around ever corner. Nothing seemed excessive or I'll placed, but rather neat and prepared for the royalty staying in each well manicured space. Will return to spend more time in the near future. Switzerland has a heart and it seems to be living here. read more

Dolder is located on the top of the hill and a little outside from the center. I heard there was a renovation recently and so it has quite modern ambiance. As other 5 star Swiss hotels, service is great. Very friendly and courteous. I visited a bar which is located in the lower level. Bartenders are very friendly but I wasn't impressed by the drinks. Most cocktails are average Zurich price around CHF 19.. I walked around the lobby, garden restaurant and the high end restaurant. I liked the garden restaurant better for being a bit casual restaurant) with nice outdoor sitting area. you can actually enjoy nice view from the top of the hill. The high-end restaurant has outdoor sitting but surrounded by tall bushes... so this one doesn't gives the view. Overall it's a nice place to get away from busy Zurich scene. read more

My amazing fiancé chose this hotel for our final two nights of our nine day vacation. We biked through Alsace for five days and by the time we arrived in Zurich, we were ready to chill. Why you'll love this hotel: 1. Service, service service. Outstanding. Anticipating everything. 2. The Restaurant - two star Michelin. July 4 - table overlooking the fireworks. Tasting menu. great bottle of wine. stellar service and food that makes your eyes roll back in your head. 3. Shower and tub and bath salts & soap. Need I say more? My eyes couldn't focus on all of the shower head sprays - eventually I figured it out. That's what a good education can do for you...wine helped too. 4. Outstanding breakfast - both days - fabulous buffet and staff. I do have to comment on a guest we observed though. Now I know we are not in the financial echelon that most of the guests are; however, we know how to treat people. This guest must have been a regular. How else would everyone jump through hoops as he listed off all his demands for breakfast? the worst...when he called them over and asked to have the LIGHTS TURNED DOWN FOR THE ENTIRE RESTAURANT!!! It was breakfast, not a nightclub. Then, he had the audacity to call them over and say " now, isn't that better to have the lights turned down?" "I'm sure the other 40 people eating breakfast really appreciated that one...sorry, had to show you that money doesn't always buy manners. 5 The Spa...the experience here will leave you wanting for more. There is nothing like this spa, pool and restaurant. I can't begin to describe it. Just go and stay there for hours. Based on reviews from several guide books and the sheer beauty of the building from the pictures, I had to visit the Dolder Grand! The hotel is beautiful and well kept. While I didn't stay in a guest room, I did enjoy a great (albeit expensive) lunch at Saltz. I had their goat cheese "snack" followed by the traditional chicken club sandwich. The goat cheese was topped with a small beet and was absolutely delicious!! I only wish it had been a bigger portion. The club was a pretty small portion as well, which was a bit disappointing given it was €34... But, it was a very fresh and tasty lunch entree. Service was prompt and courteous and the views are to die for (on a clear day you can see across Lake Zurich and the surrounding Alps). Overall a pricey and not terrible easy to get to lunch option, but worth the trek and expense. I will definitely return...but next time with my sweetheart! read more

Who say the Dolder Grand doesn't welcome kids? My boys (5&9 years old) were treated like princes! We stayed 3 nights at their suites with a connected room. My boys were greeted like an adult, got to choose 2 welcome gifts at the check in counter, and receive a cart full of goodies in the room! They offer private nanny service, you would assume she watch the kids in the room. Guess what? She took my boys to the Zoo next to the hotel! I had a quiet, romantic day with my husband, and I came back with 2 happy kids! Besides their nanny service, their spa and pool is the best we've been to! Food is always great, and service is best. I would only stay at the Dolder Grand when I visit Zurich. read more

There is two reasons why I come here, the Wasa Khaan and their rose cocktail. Worth the money.

Do yourself a favor and don't eat at the restaurant at the dolder hotel in Zurich. I have a fin fish allergy and have had multi-course meals in the US, London and Paris, and have had no issues. We informed the restaurant at the dolder of my allergy and they didn't seem to understand. I say they didn't seem to understand because I was served caviar, followed by a lobster soup that was made with a fish broth, followed by turbot(which I didn't eat). After having a reaction to the soup, and then being served turbot, I decided to ask to speak to the chef. I was told I could not, then the so called sommelier(who was an idiot) tried to argue with me that I only had a salmon allergy. I again asked to speak to the chef. After talking to the restaurant manager, I was still not able to speak to the chef to explain the issue I had, and to insure the exposure to fish did not happen again. At that time my wife and I decided to leave the restaurant. Even when we informed them of our plans, no effort was made to discuss our issue with the chef. As far as we where concerned, the chef's stance was, shut up, and eat the food we bring, and we are above talking to customers. We now sit in our hotel room eating room service, enjoying being alive. Avoid this place. read more

If you want to stay at the best hotel in the world, take a short drive up from the city center and stay at this fantasy hotel. I don't even know where to begin with this hotel. The views from anywhere on the property are incredible. The outside looks like a castle while your room is controlled with an iPad and is very tech savvy from the curtains to the lighting and all in between. I would like to give special praise to Markus. He not only recommended options for us to do, but gave us maps, a $130,000 BMW convertible at no cost to drive around, and was very kind. Just being able to stand and watch cars that look like the old James Bond movies and Ferraris, Maserati, bentleys, bmws, Mercedes, etc is any car persons thrill. We were also recommended the Kronenhalle restaurant which I still consider the best place we have eaten this entire vacation. I can't give this hotel enough praise. I would love to come back during the winter time and stay. The only thing that wasn't over the moon was the food in the restaurant. It was ok, but didn't measure up to the bar the rest of the hotel set. I'd like to also give praise to the guy in the hotel bar off from the check in desk. I think his name was Ernie. Super nice guy and very attentive. read more
